Description

The Watauga Willing Workers Network primarily serves residents of Watauga County, NC. However, anyone is more than welcome to join.

The Watauga Willing Workers is open to all who want to post a need for a service performed. Initially, this might include small "handyman" type jobs that are too small for a contractor to bother with.

Possible needs include pet care, home repairs, landscaping needs, tutoring, lifting, hauling, moving, fixing. Over time, we'll see what happens. Nonprofit groups are also welcome to participate too!

Fees or barter is determined by the parties involved.
Folders on this group will allow folks to post resumes, qualifications, pictures of projects. Check the folders for a sample.

Reason: In our segmented society, it has become too easy for us to become isolated, and thus not know who to call when we need a small chore done. This group may be a means to connect a person with a need with a skilled person in need of supplemental income.

This is NOT a site for meeting "personal" needs, e.g., dates, hookups, or making friends. Do that somewhere else.

PRECAUTIONS: While most folks are honest, BEWARE!
Be sure the job you are having done complies with regional codes.

1. DEAL LOCALLY - follow this one rule and avoid 99% of scam attempts. Ask for references and verification of qualifications. Be smart.
2. NEVER WIRE FUNDS
3. FAKE CASHIER CHECKS & MONEY ORDERS ARE COMMON, and BANKS WILL CASH THEM AND THEN HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE when the fake is discovered weeks later.
4. WataugaWillingWorkers, or its owner/moderator IS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY TRANSACTION, and does not handle payments, guarantee transactions, provide escrow services, or offer "buyer protection" or "seller certification".
5. NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION
6. AVOID DEALS INVOLVING SHIPPING OR ESCROW SERVICES
7. Don't pay for a job before it is done.
8. Familiarize yourself with laws regarding checks that may bounce.
