A new discussion group - Automatic Trading Systems Forum

A discussion forum for developers and traders interested in
automatic trading systems.

All interested parties are invited to participate.

This group was created after the original group was taken
over by Spammers. This group is moderated to avoid that fate.

The group is focused on the use of custom development and
3rd party packages to automatically develop trading signals
and execute trades in the stock, futures and Forex markets.

This approach contrasts with the traditional method of
trading where the trader monitors the market using charts
or technical indicators and manually makes a trading decision
and executes that decision through either electronic or
manual communication with a broker.
While this is exciting for many, it has numerous limitations.

Among these:

1) Human bandwidth: a person can only follow a few
dozen markets at a time.

2) Human psychology: in many cases hope, fear and greed
tend to impact trading as mush as the objective
trading strategy.

3) Variations in human performance: a fight with the
spouse or a family illness can dramatically alter
human judgment and performance.

In contrast an Automatic Trading System can follow
thousands of market instruments, has no emotion and
doesn't react to family or heath issues. In addition
an ATS frees one to enjoy life while the system earns
a living, in contrast to the "work" of manual trading.
