Does anyone know of an up-to-date list of ticker symbols. I did a
database cleanup, which got rid of a lot of the symbols, but I know I am
missing some of the latest ETF's for sure, as well as any of the more
recent merger ticker symbol changes, IPO's, and spinoffs. Where might I
be able to acquire the list in a format which I can update or replace my
current database of stocks and or funds?
Thanks,
Lee
In case of certain tickers AmiQuote seems unable to pull the (Basic)
fundamentals in. For example here is my download file for two tickers
HTM and CPST:
"HTM","US GEOTHERMAL INC",2.71,-0.057,0.00,0.00,0.00,N/A,0.705,-
3.7M,N/A,0,N/A,"N/A","N/A",0.00,5.00,149.8M,43087000,55M
"CPST","CPST",0.00,N/A,N/A,N/A,N/A,N/A,N/A,N/A,N/A,N/A,N/A,"N/A","N/A"
,N/A,N/A,N/A,N/A,0M
HTM is OK, CPST refuses. However both fundamental CPST pages seem
fine:
http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=CPSThttp://finance.yahoo.com/q/ks?s=CPST
Surprisingly the CPST Extended fundamentals DO work well!
Can the reason for the Basic fundamentals failure be traced?
Thanks very much.

Hello,
http://www.amibroker.com/devlog/2008/04/23/amiquote-200-released/
A new version of AmiQuote 2.00 has been released.
Download link:
http://www.amibroker.com/bin/aq2000.exe
CHANGES (as compared to 1.95):
- Added new Google Finance EOD data source (finance.google.com), US and
International stocks (finance.google.com) - very fast
downloads, much faster than Yahoo
- Fixed some rare random crashes
- Fixed occassional crash on Vista
- Historical EOD downloads overwrite temporary files always to prevent
consuming too much hard disk space
- Livecharts/Quote.com by default is now disabled because vendor discontinued
the service. (Use Tools->Settings to re-enable if
needed)
NOTE: Backup your files inside "Formats" subfolder if you did any editing
because the setup program will install default ones.
Best regards,
Tomasz Janeczko

thank you for your reply tomasz. i cancelled my livechart subscription today.
so, may i ask a question to all you fellow amiquote/livecharts user out there: where do you go from here?
i am an active trader at interactive brokers and quite happy with them. for years i have been using livecharts/amiquote to build a historical 1-min database for all US stocks, downloading their delayed data on a daily automated basis. tradestation: i have been a user of ts for some time but only to download off their very good historical intraday data. since i am a rather active trader i do not want to switch from ib to ts because their commissions cannot compete with ib. opentick: i use the opentick/amibroker plugin to fill my occasional data holes. they seem to be getting better and bigger but you can only download data stock by stock. esignal: again, i am only looking for the data. as far as i know i would only get 6-month backfill for $99/month.
how do i keep my huge historical 1-min database alive and up-to-date?
thanks for your ideas, dirk schreiber

My scheduled downloads using LiveCharts began working again as of last
night. I had cancelled yesterday as well but it doesn't take effect
for a few weeks because of the billing cycle.
If it continues to work, I'll reverse the service cancel.

Well with this development, qcharts-esignal has finally outlived its
usefullness for me, after all these years. I was just hanging on
because of the intraday data I was able to download thanks to AmiQuote.
Tomasz, I hope you'll send a notice to your registered users if you
are able to access the data again.

tonight my quote.com setup stopped working - "The server name or
address could not be resolved"
i am a paying LiveCharts subscriber and i have been using AQ /
Quote.com to download 1-min data on a daily basis for more than a year
now. i can log on to htpp://new.quote.com without problems, but
amiquote cannot connect to the quote servers anymore. i tried all 3
servers, password encrypted/plain.
can anyone confirm this, maybe a change on their servers or is it just
me??

Hello,
1. Always FIRST running instance is updated. Second instance is not.
2. Data are downloaded and update is on per-symbol basis as soon as single
symbol data is downloaded.
So it is dynamic already.
"Auto-import" checkbox must be ticked.

I had some kind of problem starting AB. Two instances started, one was
the intraday default version and one used an incorrect default database
with nothing set. The chart settings were all wrong and when I closed
it it messed up my intraday charts and default database settings. I
fixed all that but another problem arose.
Before the error when I was downloading Yahoo EOD data AQ was updating
the AB database during the download so that when I hit save in AB there
was nothing to save because the database had been saved during the
download. That does not work now. When the download is complete and I
save the data in AB it takes a couple of minutes. Is there a setting in
AB or AQ that will allow AQ to dynamically update the AB database while
it is downloading data? That is a very nice feature.
I am using AB 4.9 and AQ 1.94. My system has an Intel core 2 duo.
I an not sure where the problem is, AB or AQ. Thanks for any help,
Barry
I bet you are right. I'll try to remember that next time. Anyway, for
now I am Ok again on both desk and laptop.
Love my Amibroker.

The clue that reminded me of this was that I changed database,
reopened AQ and told it to get tickers from Amibroker, and it did not
get the tickers from the newly opened database.

Based on what you said about the re-boot, I'll bet you had a second,
invisible copy of AB running. Next time this happens use the Windows Task
Master to see if you have 2 instances of Broker.exe running. This can
sometimes occur if a "glitch" happened while AB was running via OLE.

My apologies, the problem was corrected by rebooting my computer.
This has happened before, I have posted about having to do this
before, and yet I myself forgot about this.
I must get in the habit of rebooting regularly to "clean things up".

Example:
SNDK - Amibroker chart has no bars after 4/20/2007.
I just did a download with Amiquote.
SNDK.aqh has quotes for the days I requested. (4/9/07 to 4/27/07)
AQ indicated quotes had been imported, but they are not seen in chart,
and Quote editor does not show downloaded quotes.

The SNDK file in my database is dated 4/21/2007

Go to Tools->Settings and make sure that "Yahoo historical server" is set to ichart.yahoo.com.
Since AQ has been released Yahoo switched off certain servers that are listed in this drop down and specifically auto-rotate option may result in some quotes not being updated.

My previous message concerned a laptop pc I use at my office.
Tonight I came home and attempted to update my desktop pc at home. I am having a similar problem.
I am getting no quotes after 4/20/07.
I have been using AQ/AB for several years and it is a morning ritual for me to update my EOD quotes. It has always been pretty flawless, now suddenly, I can't MAKE it work.
It sounds like you are trying to download historical data that has data holes. I don't use AQ, but I think the all of the Yahoo downloader's work the same way. If so, then the historical download will only go back as far as the last historical data in the folder. So, delete the data at least up to the first data hole (might as well delete all data) and then do an historical download. That should work.

Using AQ 1.94
I am missing days in my Yahoo data.
When I check Yahoo web site, the days are listed in Histroical prices.
I Have treid chaging servers in Amiquote, some are worse than others,
missing symbols. But, none provide missing days.
Is this a Yahoo problem, or an Amiquote issue?
I switched to MSN, but that appears to no longer work.

Back working again for me. They did state that they had a problem on their site this morning

i have contacted eSignal, but they are not responding. i have been playing around with opentick a few months back, it is not really an alternative to a working livecharts account. as i have stated earlier, i am not interested in live feeds, i am looking for an alternative to livecharts/quote.com as a supplier of *unrestricted* delayed intraday data. i am an active trader, receiving live feed from IB, which works flawlessly for me. nevertheless IB (or any other live feed data provider) will not work to build a intraday data history of a huge number of US stocks. anyone know if eSignal will totally drop/discontinue quote.com? any alternative if so?
thanks, dirk

Damn! That was a reply message from them. Here's the original:
-----------------------------
Please be aware of the following important changes regarding the delayed
data you receive with your LiveCharts subscription.
In October 2006, eSignal removed access to delayed U.S. and Canadian stocks
and futures data and implemented a fee for delayed data for LiveCharts
subscribers. During a recent audit, we discovered that your account does not
reflect this subscription change.
Therefore, if you would like to continue receiving delayed data on your
LiveCharts subscription, as of May 15, 2007 (when your access will be
removed), you will need to add the following services to your account before
that date to avoid any interruption of data:
Delayed U.S. and Canadian Stocks Package: No Charge
Delayed U.S. and Canadian Futures Package: USD2.00 per month
Note: You must add the Delayed U.S. and Canadian Stocks Package even though
there is no charge at this time.
To add either one or both of these services, please go to Account
Maintenance (https://secure.esignal.com/maintenance.aspx) and click on
Add/Cancel Product Services. Please note: You will need your username and
password.
If you have any questions regarding this change, let us know. We appreciate
your continued business.
