Movie reviews The Indian

This is a very touching drama about the relationship between an estranged father
and his attempts to reconcile with his son.

It stars Sal Landi (24, Ugly Betty) as Skip, and his son Danny played by Matt
Dallas (Kyle XY).

We meet Skip in a limousine, having a drink, but after a few moments, we see him
stay still in apparent discomfort, while two of his companions wonder what is
wrong. He is next at the doctor's being told that his liver is failing after
years of substance and drug abuse, and at this stage he needs a partial liver
transplant from an immediate family member, the doctor asks if he has any
children, Skip doesn't answer, but later on Skip looks at a faded picture of
Danny, and we realise he does have a son.

We meet Danny who is being cared for by Skip's sister, Carrie played by Jane
Higginson (she has incredibly fascinating eyes), since his mother died when he
was two. He calls her mum, and treats her as his own mother, however Danny lacks
any direction and as Carrie's friend Mona played by Angela Lanza; is constantly
telling her, he needs some direction in his life from a father figure. It turns
out that Danny had been to a party a few days earlier where he was thrown out as
he was not invited, and was simply crashing the party, although to be fair he
was minding his own business, but the host realised she didn't know who he was,
and so he was subsequently thrown out. In his anger and frustration, he
vandalises a nearby shop, but left a vital clue, for the police to track him
down.

Prior to this Skip makes an attempt to see his sister and Danny, but his
attempts were dismissed by the both of them, as being too little too late. When
Danny gets arrested for the vandalism, his bail is set at $50,000. Carrie as a
nurse simply cannot afford the bail, and she calls on Skip to provide the bail,
as a last gasp opportunity to save Danny from jail, in exchange he gets to spend
some time with him as he wants while Carrie relocates to another nursing
vacancy. Danny makes a promise to Carrie as a condition of being bailed to agree
to go along with whoever is in the house while Carrie relocates for her new
nursing vacancy, but the relationship between Skip and Danny is no better than a
the beginning of the movie when they met after a long hiatus, with Danny eager
to avoid him at every opportunity and Skip desperately trying to find a way into
his son's heart. He happens to see in the garage, parts of an old worn out
Indian bike, and knowing that at least Danny likes bikes, he decides to to use
this as a way into his son's heart by enlisting the help of a father and
daughter team, to help him get the parts and fix the bike. The father and
daughter team of Ted and Shelby played by Corbin Timbrook and the gorgeous
Alison Haislip respectively, have their own issues, with Ted's wife having
walked out on him and Shelby. She spends most of the time fixing the parts of
the Indian, and inevitably takes a liking to Danny, all the while being watched
by Skip.

It is a poignant tale of a father's desperate attempt to save himself which may
at the same time be able to repair the fragile relationship with his son and
sister.

Your Marriage Can Be Saved, If You Are The Source Of The Communication Problems
Copyright (c) 2009 Donny Prentice
Divorce Think Tank
http://www.divorcethinktank.com/blog/

The leading cause of divorce in the United States today is
marriage - always has been, and always will be. But joking aside,
one of the leading causes of divorce is the unwillingness to
communicate or listen to one another.

After a tough day with the kids or a tight financial pay period,
people begin to get stressed out. Couples that are going to
survive are those who are willing to talk to their spouse and
console their fears and concerns.

Those who are unwilling to discuss the matters that stress out
the other party, often find their marriage on the road to ruin.

If you are the one who is unwilling to listen to your significant
other, the fact that you are reading this article indicates that
you still have a desire to repair what ails your marriage and to
save it from the perils of divorce.

If the other party is the one who has shut you out of the
communication cycle, there is not much you will be able to do, if
they remain steadfast in their resolve to shut you out of their
lives.

No marriage can survive a lack of communication - pure and
simple.

You and your significant other must be able to communicate with
one another, and you must be willing to console one another
during times of stress.

It is just human nature. Marriage is about more than just the
human touch, but also the human experience - to share our lives
with someone who is able to acknowledge our importance in their
lives. We need the human touch, but we also need the comfort of
another who cares about us, as much as we care about them.

People deal with stressful situations differently. Some strike
out in rage, while others metaphorically curl up into a ball, in
an effort to escape the troubles of the world.

Those are two extremes of the human condition, both of which are
unhealthy in a relationship.

If it is you that has cut off your spouse to the needed
communication to maintain a healthy relationship, then it is up
to you to fix your marriage, to open yourself up to being the
person your significant other needs you to be.

More valuable than money and jewels, open and committed
communication is the essential element that a marriage needs to
remain strong and healthy.

In fact, open communication is just one part of the scenario.
More than open communication, people need you to be willing and
able to listen to their worries and fears.

Sometimes the best form of communication will involve you keeping
your mouth shut, and being the "interested ear" that your
significant other needs to be able to feel consoled and important
to you.

The greatest gift you will be able to give others is the
willingness to "listen".

For most people on the planet, the most important sound they want
to hear is the sound of their own voice. If you open your mouth
to interject, then you are telling the other person that want to
be more important than they are, and it is often a sure way to
ruin the perfect experience.

If you can simply sit and listen to your significant other say
what is on his or her mind, without allowing yourself to
interrupt or interject your own opinion, then you will win the
heart and soul of the person sitting next to you or across the
table.

It is kind of funny, but sometimes when we sit to talk to
someone, they control the entire conversation, not allowing us to
add to the conversation. Yet, many of those people will leave the
experience convinced that you are the most interesting person
they had met in some time, although you never got a word in
edgewise.

If you look back to when you dated your spouse, if you think back
to the good times, you might just realize that what I say is
true. The only thing that has changed between when you fell in
love and now, is that now, one of you has stopped participating
in the discussion - the willingness to give the other what they
want and need in the conversation.

Movie Reviews Randy and The Mob

This is a well made comedy drama, starring Ray McKinnon in two roles as Randy
Pearson, a good natured happy go lucky "big shot" who owns a number of
businesses, but is currently in a financial mess, and Cecil his twin brother.

Randy happens to borrow money from a loan shark, which unbeknown to him is
connected with the Mob. Soon afterwards he starts getting phone calls from a Mob
guy, Franco played by Paul Ben-Victor (Tombstone) as to when and how he is going
to settle his debt, Randy tries to explain that as hard as he has tried he
cannot come up with the money for the debt as well as his increasing debt with
the IRS (Internal Revenue Service).

After asking around and finding out that he could be in some serious trouble
with the Mafia, Randy contemplates selling one of his businesses to Elmore
Culpepper where Burt Reynolds (Boogie Nights) does a short cameo.

Surprisingly Franco has a solution to his financial troubles, and that involves
sending Tino Armani played surprisingly well by Walton Goggins (unrecognisable
from his character in The Shield), to sort out his financial troubles, even so
much as to pay off the IRS. On their first meeting Randy is amazed to find out
that Tino has the same country dialect as he does, to which Tino responds he
never judges people by the pigment in their skin or their dialect. After a while
Randy is even more impressed by how seemingly good natured Tino is, and soon all
in the small community are besotted by Tino. He even manages to improve the menu
on one of Randy's restaurant businesses that had so many people queueing to get
in when Randy arrived he automatically assumed there was an incident and that
the police had been called. At this stage it should be mentioned Randy has an
on-going problem with one of the local law enforcement officers Griff Postell,
played by Brent Briscoe (Mulholland Drive) who seems to have it in for him at
every opportunity, since Griff blames him for a "whooping" he gave him in the
third grade, which many witnessed, but Griff subsequently gave Randy a
"whooping" in the sixth grade, but unfortunately no one witnessed it.

As well as trying to solve his financial troubles, Randy has to cope with his
wife Charlotte, played by the lovely Lisa Blount (The Accountant) newly acquired
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from dancing lessons she has been giving, which has left
her a little depressed, and trying to patch the relationship with his gay twin
brother and his partner Bill played by Tim DeKay (The Russell Girl). A
relationship Randy has never accepted, much to the annoyance of his twin and his
partner.

This is a surprisingly genial comedy drama, and it contains some classic scenes,
especially where Randy is on the phone to Franco while at a rubbish tip.

Ray McKinnon is effortlessly adept between the two roles, and it is an
entertaining movie many will enjoy.

Congratulations-It's A Business!

Imagine having a newborn dropped off on your doorstep wrapped only in a blanket
with a note attached that reads, "Take care of me."

For the sake of argument say you wanted a baby so this is like a windfall. You
bring the child in the house and it only takes a couple of moments to realize
that you have no diapers and no formula, so out you go (or you send your
husband) to buy the necessary items.

When he returns, you change and feed the infant and begin rocking her to sleep,
but once she drifts off you are at a loss as to where to put her. You don't
have a crib, a playpen or even a stroller.

You and your husband start making a list of the items you are going to require
in the coming days to properly care for this little life. The list grows longer
and longer. The cost of the items quickly exceeds your budget. You start
wondering if you can keep this baby.

While this story may seem crazy, this is how many people start their businesses.
They want a business, so one day they make some business cards and say, "Here I
am world, hire me."

As with the child, it doesn't take long for them to realize that they need some
essentials to do the bare minimum for their business' survival, so they rush out
and take care of those things.

Once those pressing needs are handled other things surface. As the list of
items they either need to buy or need to do grows, it becomes apparent that the
business requires more care and feeding than initially thought. When the cost
of everything is calculated it's likely more than they anticipated.

At this point, doubt around whether they should have started the business in the
first place and whether they can make it successful if they keep going creep in
smothering the initial passion for the idea.

But it doesn't have to play out like this.

Think about when you got pregnant or decided to adopt. If everything went as
planned, you had at least nine months to plan, prepare and line-up everything
you would need for the nurturing and care of your new baby.

In those nine months, you focused on getting ready. You did everything from
create a space, to buy items, to engage family and friends in contributing, to
read books to gain parenting knowledge, and to choose the professionals you
would rely on to assist you. If you were anything like most parents I know, you
spent hours and hours mulling over names and envisioning how it would be when
the baby came.

This is the mindset I recommend you adopt when starting a business.

For many momprenuers your business is both a way to make money and a way for you
to contribute. Make sure that you take the time to properly gestate your
business concept by taking the time to prepare. Depending on the type of
business, your family's current situation and the amount of time and resources
you have to commit, preparing to give birth to your new business can take from
one month to two years.

Remember that premature babies require more attention and often costly care to
nurture to health. A business opened prematurely will also require more of your
attention to fix and can drain your bank account and resources quickly.

Online Marketing for Local Businesses
http://onlinemarketinglocal.com/

As business owners and managers, we need to look at a variety of
numbers to gain a better understanding of our businesses. In this
article, we are going to consider two very important metrics in
business marketing - Cost Of Customer Acquisition and Advertising
ROI (Return On Investment).

One of the most important numbers we need to always be mindful of
is the "Cost of a New Customer" or "Cost of Customer
Acquisition".

Understanding Customer Acquisition Costs

If you are unfamiliar with this concept, let me give you a quick
tutorial on this advertising metric.

===============================================================>

Suppose you run an advertisement in your local newspaper for
your furniture store. Suppose for the sake of this example that
you paid $1000 for your display ad in the newspaper.

Now, suppose your advertising brought 4 new customers into your
store, who bought from you. Suppose also that the average spend
for each customer was $1500.

With the example I am drawing, your $1000 display advertisement
in the newspaper brought in 4 customers who spent a total of
$6000 in your store.

I am going to keep this example simple, so that more people can
keep up with the numbers.

On the basic premise of our example, you generated 4 customers
after an outlay of $1000 in advertising. So your basic Cost Of
Customer Acquisition was $250 per customer.

If your business received fewer customers, from your outlay of
$1000 in advertising, then your Cost Of Customer Acquisition is
more expensive.

But, if your business earned more customers who spent money,
then your Cost Of Customer Acquisition would be much smaller.

===============================================================>

In its simplest form, the Cost Of Customer Acquisition is the
money spent to get the customer to your store divided by the
number of new customers acquired. We will look at this in more
detail, later in this article.

The Best Way To Measure Sales And Marketing Performance

Entrepreneur Magazine in a 1999 article reflected on the Cost Of
Customer Acquisition in the dot com world. The article suggested,
"the cost of new customer acquisition is one of the best ways to
measure sales and marketing performance."

In 1999, the Cost Of Customer Acquisition for the following
companies were:

  * BarnesAndNoble.com - $42

  * Amazon.com - $27.60

  * Priceline - $32.30

  * Beyond.com - $29.30

On the surface, these numbers may seem small. But, Amazon's
Average Sale is in the $17-range! This makes the challenge that
Amazon and other major retailers face fairly transparent. If
these retailers could only count on one purchase from the newly
acquired customer, then these businesses would be losing money by
the truckload.

Fortunately, Amazon continues to perform well in Repeat Business
from a single customer. The following calculations reflect
additional numbers that we business people should also factor
into our Cost Of Acquisition metrics.

The Real Value Of A Customer

Amazon's first-sale may only be $17, but in 1999, Amazon's
Average Sales Per Customer was $116, up $10 from the previous
year. Unfortunately, Amazon isn't very forthcoming with these
numbers, so after two hours research, I was unable to come up
with more up-to-date numbers for you to consider.

The point of mentioning this is that it is important for business
owners and managers to recognize that the Value Of A Customer is
not how much sales revenue is derived from the initial purchase,
but more importantly, from the Lifetime Value Of A Customer.

If we looked at Amazon's Cost Of Customer Acquisition only in
terms of that first sale, then they will be losing money
hand-over-fist. With a Cost Of Acquisition of $27.60 and the
first sale of $17, Amazon could not stay in business long if they
were continuously producing numbers at that level. However, once
you factor in the Lifetime Value Of A Customer, then Amazon is
spending $27.60 to acquire a customer that is worth $116 in sales
for them. Therefore, by measuring the Lifetime Value of a
Customer, Amazon is spending only 24% of their revenue in order
to acquire one customer.

Few businesses invest 24% of their revenue in advertising, but
Amazon hopes that the Lifetime Value of a Customer will
eventually exceed the $116 value, known to have existed in
FY2000.

As the Lifetime Value of a Customer increases, the overall Cost
of Customer Acquisition will fall, as an overall percentage value
of Cost Of Acquisition divided by the Lifetime Value of the
customer.

The Compounding Lifetime Value Of A Customer

If you have a hair-cutting salon and your advertising budget for
one month is $1000, and you get 30 new customers through the
door, who will spend an average of $20 for a hair cut, then your
basic Cost of Customer Acquisition is roughly $33.34 to gain $20
in new sales.

But if only half of your 30 new customers become regular clients,
then you can anticipate 15 of those customers coming to your hair
salon at least once a month for the remainder of the year.
Therefore, the first 15 customers will be worth $20 each, and the
next 15 customers will be worth $240 each over the course of one
year ($20 x 12 months). All told, your first 15 customers will
put $300 in your cash register, and the next 15 customers will
put another $3600 in your cash register.

Thus, in the hair salon example, your $1000 in advertising could
generate new customers that will generate $3900 in new sales.
Once you start to consider the Lifetime Value of a Customer,
within the Cost of Customer Acquisition, then you will realize
that the Cost of Customer Acquisition - although it might be
higher than the initial sale - holds out the possibility and
promise reducing itself as the Lifetime Value of a Customer
increases over time.

As the end of the year winds down, you will be able to see that a
$1000 expenditure was turned into $3900 in new revenue. In
essence, for every dollar you spent on advertising that month,
your return value was $3.90 over the course of one year.

In the second year, if only half of the original 15 regular
customers or roughly 8 people stay with you for the full course
of the second year, then the $1920 in revenue (8 people X $20
each X 12 months) you can expect from those customers could
almost be considered free money. Of course, you will still have
service fulfillment costs, but that second year will give you
nearly $2000 in revenue that you will not have to chase.

Even if half of the customers drop off during the following
calendar years, then a 50% customer attrition rate will allow
you to have customers that could stay with you up to five years.
Calculated against a 50% decrease in customers over each calendar
year, your $1000 investment in advertising may translate into
$7500 in revenues over five years ($3900 + $1920 + $960 + $480 +
$240 = $7500), from the initial investment of $1000 in advertising.

The interesting thing about this scenario is that it is based on
an advertising budget of $1000 ONE TIME. But, most businesses
will continue the advertising process every month in every year.
Therefore, the above example could compound month-after-month.
Every month should bring the same or similar results to your
business for the month and year.

Advertising Is A Process, Not An Event

Many small business owners have a dire misunderstanding of the
nature of advertising and the value to be received from the
advertising.

When business owners or managers fail to track and measure the
new business generated from the advertising, then the business
owners and managers will fail to see that advertising is an
expense that can return huge dividends to the business.

When businesses fail to track and measure advertising successes,
people tend to only see the money leaving the business without
every seeing the reward coming back into the business. As a
result, many business managers will employ advertising for a
short time, then cancel the advertising, under the false belief
that the advertising was not returning value to the business.

When businesses fail to understand the Lifetime Value Of A
Customer, it is hard to appreciate any advertising method that
fails to pay for itself in its first cycle. If Amazon was to only
look at the initial sale generated by a new customer, they would
quickly cancel all of their advertising efforts. Fortunately for
Amazon, its management understands that the initial $17 sale is
not the measure to use to determine the value of Amazon's
advertising efforts. Amazon's management understands that the
true Cost of Customer Acquisition should not be measured by the
initial sale, but by the Lifetime Value of a Customer. In doing
so, Amazon has ensured that it will continue to be one of the
largest and most successful retail outlets on the planet.

When business managers fail to understand the Lifetime Value of a
Customer, it is hard for them to appreciate and understand the
compounding nature of the revenue stream for a business. It is
hard for them to understand that money invested into advertising
today, can deliver huge rewards over the next several years.

A Wake Up Call For Small Business Owners

According to Scott Shane, author of "Illusions of
Entrepreneurship: The Costly Myths that Entrepreneurs, Investors,
and Policy Makers Live By", only 29-in-100 businesses will
remain in business after ten years. That means that a full 71% of
businesses started in any calendar year will be out of business
in only ten years.

It is sad to say, but the reason most businesses fail is that
business owners and managers fail to understand the nature of
advertising, the importance of tracking and measuring advertising
results, the Lifetime Value of a Customer, and the compounding
nature of the revenue stream.

I don't want to see your business on the trash heap of
yesteryear. So, it is my hope that you will take this article as
a wake-up call, as to the importance of advertising and its
potential to lift your business into profits.

Movie review for Step Up 2 The Streets

This is a modern day re-telling of the age-old tale of the youth rebelling
against established authority, in this case a street dancer getting into a
prestigious schoo, Maryland School of the Arts (MSA) that doesn't recognise or
appreciate her street dancing techniques, and at the same time competing in the
much respected street dance tournament known as The Streets.

It stars the gorgeous Briana Evigan (a brilliant classically trained dancer) as
Andie, a member of the notorious 410 dance crew, who is staying with her
mother's best friend Sarah played by Sonja Sohn (the pregnant doctor in Brothers
and Sisters), but having some problems as inevitably teenagers go through,
especially since her mother is no longer around.

She is given an ultimatum to either start working hard at school and avoid
trouble, or move in with her aunt. Channing Tatum (Fighting, as well as in the
prequel Step Up) does a cameo as Tyler Gage, he helps her get a dance audition
at the prestigious MSA which is the only way her guardian would allow her to
stay if she is at such a prestigious school.

It turns out the 410 crew have been winning the Street Dancing tournaments
consecutively for a few years now, and Andie has missed a few practice sessions
on account of her enrolment at the prestigious MSA, which she has kept a secret
to the rest of the 410 crew, apart from her close friend Felica played by
Telisha Shaw.

She faces being thrown out of the 410 crew if the leader Tuck played by Black
Thomas finds out that she is putting anything over the 410 crew. She regards the
410 crew as the only family she has ever known, but she also would like to
succeed at the prestigious MSA, one of the star pupils Chase Collins played by
Robert Hoffman, the brother of the principal Blake Collins (played stoically by
another classically trained actor Will Kemp), takes a liking to Andie, and
although she resists at first romance is on the cards, that puts her at odds
with the 410 crew.

She finds a whole new group of exceptional dancers at the school, but are they
all good enough to compete at The Streets?

The dancing is what makes this movie special, everyone is a phenomenal dancer,
and the audience can just sit back and enjoy the fantastic art form of street
dancing, some of the scenes are already ingrained in popular culture such as the
dancing in the rain and Chase placing his hand just over Andie's chest, moving
it up and down simulating a pulsating heartbeat. You can tell from the out takes
at the end credits, that it was a great deal of fun making such a movie.

Movie reviews for Christmas Town

This is a charming-magical movie about the age-old topic of believing in Santa
Claus and the magic of Christmas.

It stars the lovely Nicole De Boer (Cube, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) as Liz
McCann a Real Estate agent who doesn't believe in Christmas but sees it just as
any other holiday, and would rather be working.

However she is a single mother to a young Mason played by Gig Morton who is
eagerly in the festive spirit. While at work Liz gets a phone call from her
father played by Gary Chalk (Stargate SG-1), inviting her and Mason to come
along and pay him a visit at Hollyville and celebrate Christmas with him, she
initially declines as she remembers her dad never celebrated Christmas.

It so happens that her dad phones again while they are at home, and asks her a
second time, Mason happens to be around, and not wanting to dash his hopes she
agrees.

On their trip they are unable to find Hollyville, until the car breaks down and
Mason spots a reindeer in the woods, Liz doesn't see the reindeer and dismisses
it, while she runs after Mason they both see Hollyville lighted up in the midst
of all the trees.

On arriving at the town Liz is extremely surprised to find her father working at
the local restaurant where everyone seems so happy, she has never seen her
father so happy and friendly, and at one point she asks him "Who are you and
what have you done to my dad"?

It so happens her father would like to make up for all the years he was never
any good at making her happy especially during Christmas, and he would like to
make this Christmas special not just for his grandson but for his daughter too.

Mason on the other hand has found some surprising discoveries, the quiet town is
home to N.P. Enterprises short for North Pole Enterprises, whose business seems
to be transport all over the globe.

There is also the case of a mysterious sleigh the local mechanic is fixing that
is considered top secret, and characters that could easily be ascribed to those
of elves. Of course Liz finds all this hard to believe, but Mason is eager to
prove his mother wrong and make her a believer, while there is potential for
some romance for Liz from Kevin (played by Paul Muldoon [Star Ship Troopers],
his mannerisms are a lot similar to Rob Lowe), the boss of the diner her father
works at.

It is a lovely magical movie the entire family will enjoy.

Movie reviews Inglourious Basterds

This is a very strange, often hilarious, alternate scenario of the Second World
War. Focusing on the events surrounding a few individuals who aim to bring down
the Third Reich, it is directed by Quentin Tarantino of Pulp Fiction notoriety,
so don't be surprised if our protagonists are a little sadistic.

It stars Brad Pitt as Lieutenant Aldo Raine, who leads a team of
Jewish-Americans, in occupied France launching hit and run missions, that have
managed to make them all legendary with the Nazis as the Inglourious Basterds.
Their antics have reached the ears of Hitler himself played by Martin Wuttke.
He particularly wants to meet one hapless soldier who was let go as an example
when his squad was unfortunate enough to encounter them.

We meet the main antagonist Colonel Hans Landa played superbly by Christopher
Waltz (Goldeneye) as a Nazi detective nicknamed "the Jew hunter" for his ability
to find stowaways.

He and his soldiers approach a farm run by Perrier LaPadite (played by Denis
Menochet) and his three daughters, as typical with Quentin Tarantino films, the
suspense builds up during the conversations, with a seemingly ordinary and
pleasant conversation that after a short while makes the audience realise the
stage is being set, and something ominous is about to happen; possibly to
Perrier or his family.

During his conversation Perrier eventually gives in and reveals to Hans that
there are Jews hidden under the basement, whereby he orders his men to shoot
into the basement, however one of the girls hidden in the basement, Shosanna
Dreyfus played by the lovely Melanie Laurent, escapes.

We meet her four years later, as she runs a cinema under an assumed name of
course, where much to her frustration she is being chased romantically by a
German officer Private Frederick Zoller played by Daniel Bruhl, who is instantly
recognised wherever he goes for killing several hundred Allied soldiers as a
sniper, the audience will no doubt feel a little sorry for the romantic soldier
as since we are privy to the secrets Shohannah carries, we can understand
immediately that he has a mountain to climb to stand a chance of any romance.
He has gotten so much praise that Hitler's number one in command Goebbels,
played by Sylvester Groth has made a film about him, starring Private Zoller as
himself, and Goebbels after meeting Shosannah wants the venue for their premiere
of this movie in her cinema, but not after she bumps into Colonel Hans,
responsible for executing her family some four years earlier, fortunately for
her he doesn't seem to recognise her, but she and the audience are in two minds
if this is a ploy, as when she ran away from the farm she assumed he didn't see
her face.

The Inglourious Basterds hear about the cinema event, as well as a British agent
Lieutenant Archie Hicox played magnificently by Michael Fassbander (300, Hex),
along with a double agent Bridget Von Hammersmark played by the gorgeous Diane
Kruger (National Treasure) intend on causing a large amount of casualties during
the premiere, that could possibly end the war.

The versatility of the actors in moving from German to English to French and
Italian is impressive.

It is a typical Quentin Tarantino movie, lots of blood, and gore that is amusing
but thoroughly enjoyable at the same time.

Movie review for 12 Monkeys

This is a very entertaining futuristic science fiction movie, that has one of
the best trailers out there purely for its suspense.

It stars Bruce Willis (Die Hard) as James Cole who has been placed in a
psychiatric ward, lead by Kathryn Railly played by the lovely Madeleine Stowe
(We were soldiers), in the same ward is Jeffrey Goines played charismatically by
Brad Pitt, he simply steals the show in every scene he is in.

Cole tells an unbelieving Kathryn that he is from the future where there are no
animals, and a plague has wiped out most of humanity, and his mission is to
prevent the first occurrence of the virus that lead to the plague.

However he is constantly taken back to the future for a progress report, which
disorientates his thoughts and mindset. It turns out he is a prisoner in the
future, and doing this mission will guarantee a pardon.

It seems there are problems sending him back to the correct time line to
continue his mission; after being debriefed on how progress on the mission is
going. When sent back, in some cases he is several years out of sync with the
proposed date he is supposed to be in, with one occurrence landing him in the
trenches of the First World War where he is unfortunately shot in the leg.

Of course Kathryn doesn't believe a word he says, and sees him as an advanced
delusional schizophrenic, until she happens to look through an archive book of
the First World War, and sees a clear picture of James in it, she also happens
to have the bullet from World War One in his leg removed and analysed, and she
confronts him as to how he came to have a bullet from World War One in his leg.

At this point she begins to believe him, and although James wishes for it not to
be true, and that he is still a psychiatric patient (since he prefers this
timeline) in a world without a plague, realises he must continue his mission of
preventing the plague that has wiped out most of humanity. It becomes a
desperate race against time for James and Kathryn to find who is responsible for
the plague, the only clue they have to go on is a sect called the Twelve Monkeys
that may or may not be responsible for setting off the first instance of the
plague.

Behind every man, there is a strong women.

After my recent split with my girlfriend of two years I have
found myself thinking how much I have changed. At first, I just
thought I was only different around her, but now I seem to be a
totally different person.

Does being in such a serious relationship make a man change?
Obviously spending a lengthy period of time with anyone will
change a certain aspect of your life, whether it be something
trivial, your fashion sense or in my case my masculinity.

I believe I was so infatuated with this woman, and I spent so
much time with her that I actually became "One of the girls".
At first I guess it sounds pretty bad, but really its not. The
easiest way to have an understanding of women is to spend time
with them, hang out with them. You pick up their habits and every
women wants a man to go watch a chick-flick with them, and not
with someone who is going to pretend to be interested.

Picking up a female's habits are really not that bad though, you
might find yourself talking to her about hair and clothes, but
the first thing you will notice is that you actually do take much
better care of yourself, and you have become a lot more polite.
These are the most obvious and the beginning signs that she is
starting to "mold" you.

Whether a women wants to admit it or not, when they are in a
relationship with a man, they see us for what we are and then
they see the potential. They like to change a man to make him
more attractive, for their pleasure and maybe their reputation...
I don't know, but its true.

You will find yourself dressing in clothes that she has picked
for you which "improve" your appearance, but do they? I doubt
that there is one guy out there who hasn't received a bad
present from a partner, the majority of these will be clothes,
matching jumpers, bright shirts, floral patterns and the dreaded
skinny jeans.

I used to be a long haired surfer dude, (who couldn't surf), and
now with the "guidance" of that special lady I have short neat
hair, and I guess you could say I dress preppy. Huge
transformation?

Well I can let you into a secret, most men can - but a lot of us
can't - learn how to say no! Tell her enough is enough, unless
you want to change.

Think of it this way, the A-list celebs we all see on TV don't
pick their own clothes, they have personal shoppers - women they
pay to tell them what to wear! And us the lucky guys have it
free.

I'm not just saying that women control what we wear, they also
control what we eat, our mannerisms and the way we look at other
women. Well done girls!

I can honestly say some women have such power to make a man look
at the floor when a hot women walks into the room! I know this
because I was with a very "powerful" woman.

But if you know how to control it you can avoid it, and another
secret women think we don't know is that they indirectly use sex
as a weapon. Think of that however you might, but it's true.
Women control us, and we let them, and we love them for doing it.
It does make us better people, and we love them for it.

One day women will rule the world, although at the moment it may
be from behind the scenes. Either way, no man will ever be more
powerful, than the woman who made him.

Most people love stories for entertainment-we go to the
movies to watch stories, we read novels before bed, and
we share our own stories with friends. But aside from the
entertainment value, storytelling is a powerful marketing
and selling technique that you can use for business-
related writing projects. And by understanding how
stories work, you can engage your readers and teach
them with examples that illustrate your ideas.

What Makes Stories so Effective?

Stories work well because they SHOW readers what you
want them to understand, rather than TELL them. That
means your readers will picture what's happening in their
minds. This can be quite powerful if you're trying to teach
them a new skill or make the case for an argument. Plus,
people remember stories for longer and if the story is
particularly memorable, they might share it with someone
they know and pass the word along about the solutions
you can offer.

How Do Stories Work?

If you consider movies, short stories, and novels, you will
probably notice some similarities in the way the story is
constructed. Every successful story includes some basic
elements, including a character/hero, a goal or journey,
an obstacle, a solution, and a resolution. You should
include these elements in your stories as well.

Start with the character or hero-who is your target
audience for the piece you're writing? Either imagine this
person in your mind, or pick a person who you've worked
with in the past, and make sure the person is someone
your target reader can empathize with.

That empathy might come from a common goal, or the
need that your product or service fills. For example, if
you're marketing a weight-loss program, your target
audience will most likely be someone who is overweight.
Therefore, your character should be overweight too.

The solution part is easy: whatever product or service
you're marketing is the solution you want your readers to
see. So this is what your character finds and uses to
reach his or her goal. Finally, the resolution. That's the
benefit your readers will experience from using your
product or service. Consider again the weight-loss
example. The benefit would be losing the weight.

How Can You Harness the Power of the Story?

To make your story work, you need to know what
conclusion you want your reader to draw from reading it.
So first, think about what you want your reader to learn.
If you're marketing a how-to book, for example, you
might use a story in your marketing materials that shows
how a person (very similar to someone in your target
market) was struggling with a particular problem, then
read your book and found the answer, and finally
resolved her issue and reaped the benefits of doing so.

Here's another example: When Ben bought his new
house, he couldn't wait to plant a vegetable garden out
back. He found the perfect place with plenty of sun, and
then started digging up the grass to expose the soil
underneath. As soon as the earth came into view, Ben
got worried. The soil in his yard was dry and spent with
big seams of clay running through it. My garden will never
grow in soil this poor, Ben thought. Then a neighbor
recommended 10 Steps to a Bountiful Harvest by Betty
Green. With a whole chapter devoted to soil preparation,
Ben knew exactly what he needed to do to get his
garden ready for planting. Three months later, Ben was
eating plump red tomatoes right off the vine.

Now, if you were a new gardener hungry for your first
harvest, wouldn't you be interested in Betty Green's new
book (which I completely made up, by the way)?

Now it's Your Turn . . .

Although we think of stories as entertainment, they can
also be powerful motivators in your marketing materials.
When you use stories in your articles, blog posts, and
other business projects, your audience will not only enjoy
reading what you have to say, they'll also better retain it
and be more likely to view the solution you present in the
story as something they can use too. Now that's a
powerful story!

Credit is one of the most fundamental aspects of the financial
structure we have built our society. In fact, a great credit
score can be one of the most valuable assets an individual will
ever have in his or her life.

A young person, just beginning to build a credit rating for his
or herself will often discover that their lack of proven credit
history will be disadvantageous to their goals. Having no
established credit is generally viewed in the same light as
having bad credit, because there is no way to foresee how well
the individual will pay their bills.

Establishing Good Credit

Credit scores are determined by a number of factors. How much
debt a person has, how regularly they pay their bills, and a
history over a seven-year period, are typically the main factors
used in determining a person's personal credit rating. For the
college student, a student credit card can be a great financial
product to help them begin the process of establishing their own
good credit down the road.

College student credit cards provide a variety of options that
can make them more suited for a beginner in the world of credit,
than credit cards designed for more experienced cardholders.

Credit cards, in general, are a very easy concept to understand.
They are like little loans that one will qualify for in advance
and can use whenever they wish. The student can request a student
credit card by filling out an online credit card application from
any major bank, or they can fill out a credit card application at
their local bank.

If a student ever needs to purchase something and they do not
have the cash on hand, they can use a credit card to pay for it
and then pay the credit card company the money back. Having a
college student credit card is like having a kind and
compassionate parent in their back pocket who will agree to any
request the student has for cash.

Most student credit card providers prefer that a responsible
cosigner be listed on the credit card application. In most cases,
this would be a parent or guardian. Having someone with a great
credit score, willing to vouch for the student's ability to
repay any credit balances, is an encouraging sign for any
lender.

The Dangers

A student credit card is obviously a good thing for many reasons.
Many students use their cards for specific purposes only. This
can be an essential item, or they could have it purely for
emergencies.

One classic example is a gas credit card. It is common for
students to use their credit card solely to purchase gas, so they
always have a way of paying for gas when they need it. Other
common choices include groceries and other basic necessities.

This is a very responsible way to handle a credit card. Problems
begin when negative spending habits begin to develop. First,
students begin spending more than they can immediately pay back.
Student credit cards typically offer lower interest rates than
traditional credit cards, but they still charge interest.

Most students are just starting out in life and they are not
quite as responsible as they should be with their credit cards.
They will get a student credit card for emergencies only, but
fail to thoroughly define what they consider to be an emergency.
As time goes by, they might become more inclined to consider a
night on the town with their friends to be an emergency that will
justify the use of a credit card.

Most credit cards have what they refer to as grace periods. This
is a period of time that allows the cardholder a time period
where interest charges do not apply. Grace periods are typically
30 days or until the end of the month of the original purchase.
Different companies have different policies regarding their
credit card grace periods.

Paying off the entire balance every month is the ideal situation,
but there are always situations that will arise that make it
difficult to do so. Paying off what you owe as quickly as
possible is the only way to avoid accruing interest charges that
can easily increase the consumers debt to double the amount of
the original purchase.

Potential Perks

A wise spender can easily manage their finances, so that upon
graduation, a college graduate could have established a solid
enough credit rating to be able to buy a home straight out of
college.

There are many aspects of student credit cards that are designed
to help young cardholders wisely manage their debt. The amount of
interest most people pay is considerable. College student credit
cards are generally low APR credit cards, which means that the
student will often pay a lower APR than someone ten years their
senior.

In addition to low credit card APR rates, there are many Internet
features available for someone with a student credit card. Online
bill pay makes it possible for a student to easily pay all of his
or her bills conveniently. Many companies also offer monthly
reminders to help young people adjust to paying their bills
regularly.

In Conclusion

A college student credit card can help prepare a young person for
the immense financial world that awaits them at the end of their
college careers. There are many potential pitfalls in the
economic world that an untrained eye might miss, but the student
credit card program will teach the attentive student how to spot
and correct these potential pitfalls. Student credit cards can
help prepare anyone for a life in the real world, and help a
student enter adulthood with the good financial sense to make
good financial decisions.

Years ago MySpace came out and everybody loved it because anybody with a MySpace
profile listed their interests and hobbies. A lot of businesses made a fortune
because of this feature because they could target prospects by their interest.
Unfortunately MySpace would do updates sometimes several times during a month
and because of this bot kept on having to be modified because of the new site
changes. Push ahead to the present, the only thing MySpace is good for is if you
want to meet a hooker or an escort.

MySpace had tools like Whore Trains, and Badder Adder but the only all in one
bot that I can remember was an app called BuddyPromoter.. This app would help
you get a targeted list of friends plus allow you to send scheduled messages to
all your MySpace friends. The only problem I ever remember about apps like
BadderAdder and BuddyPromoter was that MySpace was constantly incorporating new
updates to their site and a bot developer would have had to devote 24 hours a
day to the site in order to be able to update their apps.

A few years later the trend was Facebook. Facebook would not share their code
like MySpace so it was hard for these developers to create bots for Facebook. A
few tools have surfaced over the last couple of years though. The newest trend
is a microblogging platform that has almost none of the junk ads on it and
everything is now Twitter this and Twitter that.

If you want to build a list of followers on Twitter that are all targeted you
can do this right on the site but you will be limited as to how many followers
you can gain in a day. Remember the old TV Commercial "Where's The Beef"?
Nowadays the new one is "Where's The Tweet?" A lot of developers have created
Twitter bots but the unfortunate part is you will need a separate bot for each
thing you want to do on Twitter.

A Good example of this is Microsoft. You do not want a separate word processor,
a spreadsheet program, and maybe a database program. It is a lot easier to just
own an all in one program like either Microsoft Works or Microsoft Office.
Wouldn't it be nice if you had a Twitter bot that can help you get followers
plus also send tweets to your followers?

There are some great Twitter apps that will help you to get followers or to send
tweets to the followers that you do have but unfortunately you have to own a
separate bot for each thing you want to do on Twitter. A Short while ago I came
across a new bot for Twitter that is an all in one solution. Not only will it
help you get a targeted list of followers but you can also send scheduled tweets
to the followers that you have.. The new app is AddNewFollowers and they even
give you a free version to test it out.

Because of apps like AddNewFollowers I am now an advocate to their all in one
solution for marketing on Twitter. I'd much rather have an all in one app
instead having to have a dozen apps cluttering up my desktop and my hard drive.
Imagine only having to open just one application that did everything
automatically for you. I've always hated having to minimize applications so I
can look for a another application to do something.

After divorce, the word "dating" scares a lot of people.

If you've been married a long time you probably have lost track
of all the unwritten rules or even how to go about meeting new
eligible people. Many people immediately take off for the clubs
thinking that that is the place they are going to meet someone.
You may meet someone there, but it depends on what you are
looking for.

Assuming that the divorce has left you wondering what to do with
the rest of your life, a trip to the club may be what the doctor
ordered to see what is going on in the world. Don't think,
however, that this is where to find the woman or man of your
dreams, as this rarely happens at the clubs.

Look around you. Who are your friends? Is there someone you think
is attractive but are afraid to ask out on a date?

I have always found that an initial casual non-date is the best
way to break the ice. "Hey I'm taking off for lunch would you
like to join me?" That is a very simple way to break the ice
with someone, in my opinion, and it gives you a chance to see if
this person really is who you thought they were.

Their reaction, whether "Yes I would" or "No I can't" will
tell you something, and then you can take it from there. If the
answer is yes, and you hit it off at lunch - then that simply
no-strings-attached meal will have laid the groundwork for asking
her/him out for a date in the near future.

It's not rocket science. If you are like me, your friends always
have someone they'd like you to meet.

I took the opportunity to meet everyone I could after my husband
died. You never know when the right person might come along. It
often happens when you least expect it and not when you're out
looking for that special person.

The important thing to do when you start dating again is not to
immediately get yourself tied down. In the rare chance that you
do meet the girl/guy of your dreams, then just go for it. That is
a rare event, so take your time and explore your options and meet
a number of people and enjoy the diversity of personalities,
likes and dislikes.

I have been successful in maintaining a few good casual
relationships and enjoy the company of these friends from time to
time. I explore different vacation places, learn from their
experiences and share opinions, desires and goals.

You'd be surprised at how many people have things they'd like
to do, but never did because there was no one to do them with. By
exchanging ideas and dreams and those things in your bucket list,
you may find that you have a common desire to do something or
travel somewhere.

There's nothing better than visiting a place that you've never
been and sharing it with someone who is also seeing it for the
first time. I also enjoy seeing places I never knew I was
interested in but my friend was, and I ended up being pleasantly
surprised with the trip.

So the whole thing about dating again is to keep an open mind and
explore the world, because it is probably all new to you now,
especially after years of marriage.

How to Write Articles that Attract Ideal Clients
© Copyright 2009 Melinda Copp

Writing and publishing articles, as long as they relate
to your area of expertise, will always result in traffic to
your web site. However, not all those visitors will
become clients, or even prospects. Why? Because
oftentimes they don't find what they're looking for. But
this can be avoided.

Getting traffic is pointless if your visitors don't have a
need that your products and services can fill. If you're
just getting started in article marketing, or you're not
getting the results you want from your efforts, consider
the following tips for writing articles that will make your
ideal clients want to work with you.

1. Know Who You Want to Attract

The first step to attracting ideal clients is knowing who,
exactly, you want to attract. Every writer needs to
have their ideal reader in mind, and when you're
writing articles to grow your business, this ideal reader
is your ideal client. The people you like to help, who
get good results from working with you, and who can
afford your services. You might identify these people
based on their profession, hobbies, age, interests, sex,
income level, or even marital status.

If you're not sure who your ideal client is, consider the
solutions you provide and your own personality and
preferences, and then think about how you can tailor
them to fit a particular niche's needs, fears, and goals.
For example, if you are a financial planner who
specializes in college savings plans, and you're also a
mom with young kids in the house, then maybe your
ideal client is young moms who want to start saving
because you can easily relate to and build rapport with
people in that niche. Keep in mind that you can
segment your article marketing efforts to reach
different subgroups of clients. For the financial planner
example, another subgroup may be grandparents, and
you could tailor another article for them.

2. Use Keywords that Your Ideal Readers Will Search
Online

After you've identified your ideal client, think about
their online behaviors. When someone goes to Google
to search for something, it's usually because they have
a question or problem and they're looking for an
answer. With that in mind, think about what that
person might enter into the search field. What words
and phrases do they use to look for the information
you provide?

The most common search words and phrases may not
be what you think, which is why you shouldn't just
guess. Luckily, Google makes it easy to see what
people are searching for with their Keyword Tool (you
can access it here:
https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExtern
al). This should give you plenty of ideas for popular
keywords, and then you can use them in your article
title, introduction, and throughout the text.

3. Write about Your Products and Services

This may be a no-brainer, but when you're writing to
attract ideal clients you should focus your topics on the
specific programs and products you are selling. This
means you need to focus your article marketing efforts
around a particular service or program you offer. For
example, if you have a book about house-training
puppies, then you can write about all the different
aspects of getting a puppy to go outside. But you
wouldn't want to write about teaching a puppy to sit
and stay because that doesn't directly link to what you
have to offer.

Why is this so important? Well, let's say a person goes
to Google and searches for information on how to train
a dog to sit. When your article shows up in the search
results, then they click on the link and read your article.
All that is fine and good, but you've only attracted a
reader-not a client. You aren't selling information on
how to train dogs to sit. See the difference? If you
want a person to buy from you, you have to write
about what you have to sell.

4. Give Useful Information, Without Giving Away Too
Much

There's nothing more attractive to prospective clients
than useful information. If you really want to get
people excited about you, your expertise, and what
you offer, then you have to be knowledgeable and
helpful. And you have to give them some kind of
information that will bring them good results. At the
same time, you don't want to give away the milk if they
haven't bought the cow, right? And your cow's milk is
valuable.

The key is to make the information in your articles
useful, but incomplete. This is a good rule of thumb
that many experts and information marketers use for
their marketing content, including articles. The best
thing about this is that it's not hard to avoid giving
away too much information. It's nearly impossible to
put all your knowledge into one article-you'll always
have to leave something out.

Writing Content that Attracts Ideal Clients for Your
Business

Article marketing can be much more than simply a way
to get traffic to your web site-they can be compelling
marketing pieces designed to lead to a sale. Before
writing your next marketing article, take a few minutes
to get clear on who you want to work with and what
you provide them with. The clearer you can get about
who this person is and what keeps them up at night,
the easier it will be to attract them with your writing.
Knowing your ideal client and the keywords they
search for to find solutions and using that information
as you write means people will come to your article
ready to find an answer or information that relates to
their question. And when you provide content that is
useful and previews the services and products you
offer at the same time, then converting these readers
to clients will be much easier. Follow these tips to
ensure every article you write and publish helps fill
your business with people you're excited about having
as clients.

Ok the title is a bit over the top but in a round about way it is
true. Many swimming molds live in and swim through the thin film
of water on wet plant leaves and ruin many important crops during
extra wet growing seasons. These molds often have a very negative
effect on agriculture and are directly responsible for the deadly
Irish Potato Famine.

Some make their homes in moist frog skin and cause a deadly
disease that has been decimating frog populations around the
world for several decades now. While others cause a common fuzzy
white growth of mold on tropical fish.

These molds in at least some stages of their complex life cycles
propel themselves through water with the aid of tiny whip like
structures called flagella. Flagella are those long whip like
structures that are found on some cells such as sperm cells and
are one celled plant like Eugenia protozoans which push
themselves through water.

In his book, "The Fifth Kingdom", Dean Kendrick noted
mycologist (mold biologist) discusses three phyla (large
groupings) of swimming molds:

1) PHYLUM CHYTRIDIOMYCOTA

The first group is known as chytridiomycota these are true fungi
and they have a single flagellum at the rear of the cell, this
flagellum propels the mold cell through the water just like the
flagellum at the rear of a sperm cell propels sperm cells. Around
1998, Joyce Longcore determined that a type of chytridiomycete
mold was causing the death of many frogs around the world by
infecting their skin. You may not have heard of it but widespread
frog deaths have been a serious concern for decades now.

2) PHYLUM HYPHOCHYTRIOMYCOTA

The 2nd group that Dean goes on to discuss is the kingdom
Chromista phylum hyphochytriomycota. They have a single hairy
flagellum at the front. Though similar to the above molds, these
are not true molds.

3) PHYLUM OOMYCOTA

The Third group is the kingdom Chromista phylum oomycota, they
seem to be split and cannot make a clear decision on if it is
better to have one smooth flagellum at the rear or to have a
hairy one at the front, so the oomycetes have opted for two
flagella at the side, one of the two is a hairy flagellum that
points to the front and the other is a smooth one that points to
the rear.

Oomycetes make up the water molds that cause many common fungal
infections in fish including tropical aquarium fish, as well as
downy mildew that cause serious crop damage around the world
every year. Most importantly oomycetes caused the Irish Potato
Famine. This famine caused the death of one million Irish people
and caused millions to emigrate from Ireland including the
ancestors of Al McNamara of Abode Inspections, one of America's
first ASHI home inspectors. He was my mentor and introduced me to
the home inspection field in 1993.

Some of the above organisms have a flagellum during its
reproductive state only while a few exist as a single celled
flagellated mold its entire life. Most of the above live in
water, moist soil, or in the thin film of water on wet plant
leaves. A few even live on the surface of single grains of flower
pollen. Obviously, none of the above water molds are common in
moldy homes. However, it is interesting to understand that these
microscopic molds swim and cause serious negative impacts on
humans, plants, and animals around the world.

The Increasing Divorce Rate Is The Fault Of Our Throw-Away Society

Divorce Think Tank
http://www.divorcethinktank.com/blog/

Too many people feel that it is better to be in an unhappy
relationship than to be alone. We as a society put to much
emphasis on the joy a romantic relationship can bring and not
enough emphasis on being happy with one's self.

What people so often forget is that dating is a means to an end,
marriage.

Dating is not a substitute for true friendships. Relying on one
person for all of your emotional and sexual needs is setting
yourself up for failure. To hear some people tell the story,
dating and romantic relationships are supposed to prepare a
person for marriage - and yet people often begin dating at around
twelve and marry in their late twenties. This leaves far too much
time to date and not take the process seriously.

There is a fundamental problem here.

Relationships in the early teens to the early are treated as
disposable, in fact parents tend to demand that teen
relationships should be treated as disposable relationships. One
is expected to spend large quantities of time and invest many
emotions into a relationship that is never meant to last. This
teaches people that when things get too difficult, just throw it
all away and walk out on the problems that may exist in the
relationship. If it is to hard to stay in a relationship during
the difficulties of high school life, then what will happen
during adult relationships, when the rent is late and one party
loses a job?

Being in a series of one- to three-year relationships does not
prepare a person for real commitment.

Another flaw of the current dating system is the idea of
co-habitation. This is supposed to allow people to "test drive"
their future marriage partner. The problem here is that one
person's idea of the commitment level might differ vastly from
the other's.

Many couples in college decide to live together as a way to save
money and to get sex on a regular basis. This is a horrible idea.
One person might believe that they will marry and live happily
together after graduation while the other sees it as merely
convenient in the moment.

The less committed person is often forced into incredibly
difficult situations. For instance, the less committed party
falls in love with some one else. If he was not living with the
other person, he could simply break off the relationship and
pursue the other prospect, but since he co-habitats he cannot
easily leave. He is therefore more inclined to continue to live
with a person who he will begin to dislike progressively more.

The live-in girlfriend will become confused about why her once
somewhat loving boyfriend has become increasingly distant and the
new love interest might be tempted to forget about the boy purely
because it appears he cannot or will not leave his current
relationship. No one is the better because of this situation, and
it leaves everyone confused and heartbroken.

If the boy had simply been encouraged to not live with another
person until he was certain of his intentions then the whole
situation could have been avoided.

Recently, many people have come up with reasons as to why the
divorce rate is as high as it is. The explanation has nothing to
do with religious beliefs or anything else. It is simple. People
are trained from the time they are preteens and for 15 years
after that to treat their romantic partners as disposable sources
of emotional support and pleasure.

If marriage is to be taken seriously, then dating, the path to
marriage, must be treated with equal respect. If, as parents, you
seek to raise emotionally-stable children and emotionally-mature
adults, then you should encourage your children to take those
teen romances seriously. Teach your children that the childhood
romance should be treated with the utmost respect, just as you
would expect a marriage to be treated with the utmost respect.

Writing for print and online publication can generate
new business leads, drive traffic to your site, build
relationships with your clients and prospects, and
attract an audience. If you need to grow your
business, consider the following ways to get your
byline out there.

1. Online Article Directories

If you’ve never published an article before, article
directories—like SelfGrowth.com and
EzineArticles.com—are a great place to start. Basically,
you post articles to these directories and other web
publishers can read them and republish them on their
sites (don’t worry; you get credit and a link back to
your site in return). All you need to do is create a
profile and start uploading articles.

2. Trade Magazines

If you belong to professional associations, then you
probably get some of their publications in the mail. And
if you serve a market that belongs to an association,
then you SHOULD be getting that publication too.
When you flip through the pages, you may notice that
other members and experts often contribute articles to
these magazines and they get an about-the-author
box at the end that lists their business and web site. A
great way to establish expertise and get new leads is
to contribute your own articles to these publications.

3. Your Own E-zine

Everyone with a business can and should send an e-
zine or electronic newsletter to their clients and
prospects. It’s an inexpensive way to stay in front of
people on a regular basis and e-zines allow you to
build relationships and stimulate repeat business. So
start collecting e-mail addresses (the legal way) and
publish your own e-zine, even if it’s just plain text to
start.

4. Blogs (Your Own or Someone Else’s)

Blogs are another way to build relationships and
establish expertise. They’re easy to set up and update,
and you can post new material at a frequency that
suits your schedule (such as once or twice a week).
Blogs are also great for search engine optimization
because they’re usually updated more frequently than
a web site. If you’re not interested in maintaining your
own blog, try guest posting at blogs where your ideal
clients and readers are likely to see your material.

5. Your Own Print Newsletter

If you have a long list of past clients, a print newsletter
(like the e-zine) is a great medium for keeping in touch
and generating repeat business. Some experts
suggest incorporating both a print newsletter and e-
zine into your marketing plan. Printing and postage are
more expensive than doing everything electronically,
but if you include good content that your clients want,
they are probably more likely to read the print
newsletter.

6. Special Reports

Nothing gets people interested and builds a list of
prospects like giving away a freebie. I’ve used
downloadable special reports that appeal to my ideal
clients and their needs to generate new leads, and
people love it! An informative special report also gives
people a taste of what it’s like to work with you and
lets you answer some frequently asked questions up
front.

7. E-books

After you’ve written a few articles and reports, why not
repackage them into an e-book that you can sell from
your web site? This adds a passive income stream to
your existing business, and lets you help prospects in
a way that’s often less expensive than working with
you one-on-one. With an e-book for sale on your site,
you can literally get clients and make money while
you’re out doing something else!

8. Books

Although you may not be ready for it now, writing and
publishing a book is still one of the heaviest marketing
hitters out there. And with print-on-demand publishing
making it so easy, there’s no reason why you can’t
write a book that will allow you to raise your rates, get
more lucrative speaking engagements, and grow your
business dramatically.

Getting Started

If you’re a consultant, coach, speaker, small business,
or self-employed service provider, writing for
publication is one of the best ways to differentiate
yourself from your competition, attract new clients, and
make more money doing what you love. So pick a
publication from the list and get started. You’ll be
amazed at who might be reading your words!

Starting a business is always a tremendous undertaking. It is the
most stressful undertaking a person could ever attempt to do.
Most new business owners fail to understand that running a
business is a complex operation, which will require the business
owner/manager to pull many hat tricks to stay afloat.

As the stress of the business grows, many new small business
owners find themselves completely overwhelmed by all of the work
required to keep their new business afloat.

Much of the strain of establishing and running a business is
centered on successfully juggling the finances. When working as
the head of a corporation or as a sole proprietor, every decision
made will affect the future of the business. Having a means of
relief in place in the event that a wrong decision is made can
often mean the difference between success and failure of the
business. When a bad financial decision creates a situation where
payroll cannot be met on time, a business can quickly find itself
without staff to continue operations.

Business Credit Cards For New Businesses

In many cases, start-up companies seek out a loan at the
beginning of their business. For business owners who are not
comfortable taking out a large loan, there are other options that
can be considered as an alternative.

A credit card designed specifically for business is an option
many companies will choose to pursue. This is just like a
traditional credit card, but it also provides a variety of
business directed incentives.

Credit card companies generally offer low interest rates to
attract new business enterprises. While the credit history of the
owner of a small business is going to be considered in factoring
how much credit a company can receive, other factors are
considered to carry greater significance.

The business plan and financial projections of a new company are
going to be the most important categories available for banks to
examine. Lenders and credit givers are fundamentally interested
in learning about your projected financial expectations.

For companies that have been around for awhile, an in-depth look
at its financial history and business projections are going to be
the most vital pieces of information a credit card company will
want to know.

A business credit card provider is going to be most concerned
with the stability of the company. Some banks are so concerned
about the stability of a business that they will not risk the
investment of offering any type of credit to a start-up company,
even if that company has a checking account at their bank, until
the company has maintained their business checking account for at
least one year.

This is by no means meant to discourage a business owner from
pursuing business financing. Instead, it is simply an observation
of the difficulties that many business owners face when trying to
establish business credit. Each bank has their own policies on
business credit cards, and some banks will prefer to be more
cautious than other banks.

The Pitfalls and Advantages of Business Credit Cards

As with any credit card, the most common pitfall of owning a
credit card is the potential to overspend. It is always best to
limit the amount of money that is charged on a credit card,
whether in personal finances or business finances. Business
start-up costs can be astronomical. There are also times when a
company needs a few extra dollars to keep their utilities from
being disconnected. If someone is not careful, they can easily
charge their way into a deep pit of debt that could ultimately
destroy their business.

The truth is that cash flow is always a problem for new
businesses. Small business credit cards can make it possible for
a business owner to pay all of their bills on time. The danger,
of using credit cards to maintain a business' cash flow, is when
the owner is in a state of denial about the true health of his or
her company. Unfortunately, some business owners become dependant
on their line of credit and use it to prop up a business cycle
that cannot sustain itself, ultimately leading to financial
disaster.

On the other hand, acquiring a business credit card could also be
one of the best decisions an owner could make towards the
long-term stability of his or her business. When a business owner
has access to additional funds to float his or her business
during a short window of cash flow problems, that extra money
could be just enough to keep the business alive to continue
operations. An example of such a situation could be when the
company's bank intends to hold a deposited check until after the
next payroll date. It is one thing for an owner to decide they
can wait a few more days to be paid, but it is quite another
thing altogether to ask a company's employees to wait five days
to be paid their wages.

Being able to access the financial means to keep a business
steady and on sure footing can provide a terrific sense of
security to the business owner.

The time when a credit card becomes especially handy to the
business owner is when tax time comes; a business credit card can
be a true asset. No one is better at finding accounting flaws
than our federal government, and almost every new business is
going to be audited in their first year.

If a company's transactions are all done with a business credit
card, then the company will have a permanent record of all of
their business transactions. Having documentation of all of your
expenses is vital, when dealing with the IRS.

The most important thing that a small business credit card can do
is to provide you with the means to establish a reputable credit
history with banks and lending institutions, so the business can
gain access to higher credit lines than what the typical start-up
company is afforded.

Inspiring Examples

One of the most successful cases of a small business succeeding
by the use of a business credit card can be found with Google.
Some would argue that Google is the most successful search engine
on the Internet. It has become such a phenomenon that the company
name has morphed in to a verb for all online searches.

It is amazing to think that it all began in a dorm room. Its next
home was in a garage. Eventually the founders of Google, Brin and
Page, realized they needed larger equipment. They bought all of
their new equipment on credit cards, because banks were not
interested in lending money to a small dot-com company.

Over 380 million people in over 35 different languages regularly

Volatile Organic Compound Levels In The Home

Volatile organic compound also known as VOCs are common indoor
pollutants composed of organic chemicals that evaporate into the
air easily at room temperatures. VOCs often cause chemical odors,
respiratory irritation, headache, and other indoor air quality
related complaints. At certain high levels they can be dangerous.

These chemicals are released by paints, paint thinners, varnish,
new carpets, new cabinets and furniture that contains particle
board, household cleaners and air fresheners, gasoline,
improperly vented combustion devices, photocopier machines,
blueprint machines, and many other sources. All buildings contain
some level of volatile organic compounds, determining what are
normal levels and what are elevated levels is important in
diagnosing a buildings indoor air quality. The following
information gives some idea of what are normal and what are
elevated VOC levels.

Global consensus has resulted in the emergence of preliminary
guidelines or tVOC standards for IAQ (Australian NHMRC, 1993;
Finnish society of IAQ, 1995: Seifert, 1999: Hong Kong EPA, 1999;
Japan MoH, 2000).

Depending on Location (home, school, etc. ), recommended levels
range from 200 to 1300 ug/m3 or about 50 to 325 ppb or .05 to
.325 ppm (Toluene units) or approximately 100 to 650 ppb .1 to
.650 ppm isobutylene units.

By all accounts the IAQ tVOC threshold for normal environments
should not exceed 500 ppb (0.5 ppm) Toluene units, which is
equivalent to 1000 ppb (1ppm) isobutylene units.

Field experience suggests the following guide for the use of PIDs
to assess indoor environments:

Less than 100 ppb or (.1ppm) isobutylene units: normal outdoor
air

100-400 ppb or (.1-.4ppm) isobutylene units normal indoor air

500 + ppb or (.5ppm) + isobutylene units: indicates potential of
IAQ contaminants

Reference RAE Systems Application Note AP-212

In summary the above states that the general consensus among most
experts is that recommended indoor levels of total volatile
organic compounds is .1 to .6 ppm isobutylene units.

Indoor levels above .5ppm isobutylene units indicates potential
contamination and levels should not exceed 1ppm isobutylene
units.

Please keep in mind that the above applies to homes offices and
schools etc. Exposure limits allowed in industrial settings will
be much higher.

Movie review for The Open Road

This is a very enjoyable road trip movie starring the superb Jeff Bridges
(Starman) as Kyle Garrett, a baseball legend, who has chosen to live his life
away from his wife Katherine played by the lovely Mary Steenburgen (Back to the
future part 3) and son Carlton played by Justin Timberlake (Black snake moan).

Matters come to a head, when Katherine is diagnosed with a heart condition that
needs surgery, but she will not have the surgery unless her husband comes to pay
her a visit. It falls to Carlton to find his father and somehow convince him to
turn up so his mother can have the surgery.

He takes along his friend Lucy, played by the lovely Kate Mara (Transsiberian),
and together they find Kyle signing autographs, and being charming to all who
recognise him as the legendary baseball player he was.

It turns out Carlton has been trying to follow in his father's footsteps, but
things are not going so well with him at his team, his coach played by Ted
Danson (Friends) does a short cameo, and tells him if he doesn't sort his mind
out, someone else will take his place.

Along with trying to convince his absent father, to come along with him; so his
wife, and his mother can have the live saving surgery she needs, he also has
regrets over breaking off with Lucy, and inevitably Kyle notices the friction
between the two of them.

On meeting Kyle again after an approximate four year span, we get a little
insight into the relationship between father and son. Kyle is signing autographs
and introduces Carlton to a colleague as a fan, but the colleague does a
confused look when Carlton purposefully introduces himself as "Carlton...
Garrett".

On explaining to Kyle that his wife is sick, and has requested him at her
bedside, surprisingly for Carlton his father agrees, and he phones his mother at
the airport, telling her he is looking right at him, and that they are coming to
see her, much to her joy.

However it turns out things are not so straightforward as Kyle has apparently
lost his wallet, and he will not be allowed to board the flight without suitable
identification. Lucy suggests they drive instead, and hence the title.

It tells of the broken relationship between a father and a son, and their
journey together to fix this in more ways than one, during this road trip.

How to Grow Your Following of Ideal Clients and Readers
© Copyright 2009 Melinda Copp

Imagine having a following of people anticipating the
release of your book, awaiting your next seminar, or
planning on working with you in the future. And imagine
these people are your ideal clients, having self-selected
themselves to receive your marketing messages. These
are the people you write for, the people you want to
build relationships with, and the people who your
information can help. With a pool of readers waiting to
hear from you, making sales would be a whole lot easier
than scrambling to find the next person interested in
what you have to say.

Folks, this is the first secret of successful marketing: you
must have a list of people interested in what you have to
offer, whether you're selling services, books, or seminars.
And you should be constantly working to build a list of
people who are interested in what you have to offer.

Here are a few basics of building your list.

1. Add an Opt-In Box to Your Web Site and Blog
When an ideal client comes to your web site, but isn't
ready to take action immediately, you don't want that
person to get away. You want the ability to follow up and
keep in touch with them. To do this, create an opt-in box,
or web form where people who come to your web site
can enter their name and e-mail and be added to your
list. In a one-sentence, catchy sales blurb in the box,
describe the benefits you provide to your readers. Then
put the form in the upper right-hand corner of every page
of your web site and on your blog.

2. Send People to Your Site
To get people on your list, you first have to get them to
your site, which means you need to be generating a
steady flow of traffic. Writing and publishing articles
online, distributing press releases, blogging, and social
media are free or cheap ways to find new, ideal readers.
Make sure you link all your published materials to a place
where your readers can give you their contact
information, and make it easy for them by telling them
exactly what you want them to do. For example, "Click
here to sign up."

3. Give People an Incentive for Signing Up
Okay, they've read a little about you in your article or
press release, and they've clicked the link to go to your
web site. Now you want to do EVERYTHING you can to
make sure that person gives you their contact
information. The best way to do this is give away a free
special report or other offer that provides information
they want. Write your report so it introduces you and
your compelling story or "aha" moment, provides useful
information, and entices them to take action by calling
you or buying your products.

Building a list is one of the best, most efficient ways to
market and sell your services and expertise online. All
authors and experts can sell more by building a list of
followers and continually marketing to them. It's never
too early or late to start. Put a form on your web site,
generate traffic by writing and publishing marketing
materials online, and offer your ideal audience something
they want to get them on your list. This simple process
will have you collecting names of readers and potential
clients right away!

How to Market Your Book with Social Media
© Copyright 2009 Melinda Copp

Social media web sites, such as Facebook, YouTube,
Twitter, and even MySpace, can be perfect places to
market a book. If you are already connected to the
online networking and media world, stay there, and
start promoting your work. If you are not connected,
consider adding a few of the following strategies to
your book marketing tool kit.

Make Your Posts about Your Book

Do you regularly update your Twitter or Facebook
status? If so, make sure that, as much as possible,
your status updates relate to your book. Many users
will post things about their day or their families, but if
your goal for using social networking sites is to market
your book, keep your status updates professional in
nature and offer good information that will interest
your ideal readers. This will help keep your book at the
forefront of your followers' minds.

Create Fan Clubs

Many social networking sites allow users to build
groups or fan clubs. To spread the word about your
book, you can make your own groups and fan clubs
and encourage your friends to join. This can interest
others when they see your friends' notifications about
the group. In this way, your name and the name of
your book are getting out there and noticed.

Be sure to monitor these groups, however, as they
sometimes attract spam, and no one will spend time
discussing your book on a forum filled with spam posts.
Also, be sure to include information in these groups
about where your book can be purchased, including
links to Amazon and other online sellers if available.

Use Event Notification Options

If the social media site you are using has an event
notification capability, use it. If you know you are going
to hold a book signing or public reading, create an
event and invite people online. Encourage them to
invite their friends as well. This gets your name and
the name of your book noticed, even if it does not
increase the number of people at your book signing.

If You Haven't Already, Set Up a Blog

Your blog should be the hub of your social media
efforts. It gives you a place to post information about
upcoming events, learn what your readers liked and
did not like about your book, and stay connected with
your followers. You can post tidbits from your book or
elicit discussions about different sections of the work.
And link your blog to all your social media networks so
people can easily connect with you in other places.

Keep in mind that blogging must be done regularly to
work effectively as a marketing tool. People expect
blogs to be updated on a regular basis, and if not, they
will stop reading. Even if your posts are short, get in
the habit of regularly creating new content for your
blog. If people stop reading, your book and your
message may slip from their minds, which also means
that they are not telling people about your blog and
introducing more potential readers to your work.

Build an Online Persona

In all of your social media and networking work, keep
your online persona consistent. Whatever image you
want to portray about yourself and your book, keep it
in mind any time you post something or make a
comment on someone else's post. Always be looking
for new opportunities to introduce potential readers to
your work, but do so in a professional way that works
in conjunction with they type of writing you wish to be
known for.

Spreading the Word through Cyberspace

Social media and online networking are cheap and
easy ways to get the word out about your book, and
offer numerous opportunities to gain a following. You'll
see your readership expand as you market your book
through social media, and, as an added bonus, you will
have the chance to connect in a more personal way
with your readers.

Movie reviews $5 a day

This is a charming movie about a street smart con-man and the relationship with
his son.

It stars Christopher Walken (his performance in the Deer Hunter still remains
legendary) as Nat Parker, who is using the system for his benefit, trying to
patch his relationship with his son Ritchie played by Alessandro Nivola
(Jurassic Park III).

We meet Ritchie at his place of work and soon we find out he is let go after the
manager finds out he has a criminal past, he gets home only to find out his
girlfriend Maggie played by the lovely Amanda Peet (The Whole Nine Yards) is
leaving him, he happens to find a letter from his father that he had previously
put in the trash. We find out that the two are estranged as Ritchie went to
jail, taking the fall for a scam his father pulled, where he buys an automobile,
replaces the part with junk takes it back to the salesman and gets a replacement
saying the car he bought was nothing but junk. It turns out that one time the
institution caught on, but his son's name was what was used on the paperwork, so
Ritchie spends a considerable amount of time in jail for a crime his father
committed, and he is none too pleased with his father about this.

Nat would like to make it up to him, and added the incentive that he is dying of
a brain tumor, so Ritchie should come up and see him in an all expenses paid
trip to Mexico where there is a new age treatment, that may or may not work, but
after a while you realise, Nat simply wants to spend some time with his son.

The relationship between father and son is close, and you can tell immediately
whatever bad feelings Ritchie had with his father, you know he can forgive him
for anything, even when Ritchie finds out, it was his father who reported him to
his place of work, that he had a criminal record, so he can be fired, as an
impetus to get him to pay him a visit, as Nat puts it, the job was closing
Ritchie in; he was too good for it.

On their road trip, Nat is in his element, with his social awareness able to get
him into parties, and get many things for free, as he puts it you can survive on
5 dollars a day, hence the title. There is a brief cameo by Sharon Stone (Basic
Instinct) as Dolores Jones, who is eternally grateful to Nat for helping her get
her Rotary license. It turns out Dolores used to babysit for Ritchie, and
Ritchie remembers her fondly as she was his first infatuation, but it seems she
only has eyes for his father.

This is a very nice warm feeling of a movie, and Christopher Walken is his usual
quirky self.

Movie review for Surrogates

This is a dark futuristic view of how the world could possibly become, where
everyone has a surrogate, a robot with all the features of a human, that is
controlled remotely by the owner, with the owner having all their senses
interact with whatever the machine is encountering. The owner lives in a virtual
world, where the surrogate lives his or her life for him or her, the plausible
justification for it of course is that the owner is less at risk from disease
and infection, and indeed any harm to their real body, they can virtually go to
work, and play, with no worries about their real body, all the toll is taken on
the surrogate.

From the opening credits we get introduced to the justification for surrogates,
with first a machine where a monkey controls an arm containing a nut with just
its mind, to people who are paralysed, controlling robots to do their daily
tasks, and people in the army using surrogates for war without any fear of their
real bodies being in danger.

Soon Congress signs in to law surrogates for the use in every day lives, but as
usual there are objectors to this whole idea of surrogates, the main opponent of
this is The Prophet played by Ving Rhames (Pulp fiction), who has set up
communes where only humans are allowed. We meet our protagonist, a very young
looking Bruce Willis (12 Monkeys) as Tom Greer along with his partner Peters
played by the lovely Radha Mitchell (Pitch Black), who are investigating the
murder of a surrogate, but in this case, the owner of the surrogate died at the
same time the surrogate was destroyed. It turns out that the owner of the
surrogate is non other than the son of the inventor of surrogates, Canter played
by the dependable James Cromwell (L.A. Confidential).

It seems a weapon has been developed that not only can destroy surrogates, but
can at the same time end the life of the operator connected to the surrogate.
Tom has personally set himself the task of finding out who murdered Canter's son
and getting hold of this deadly weapon, but he has a mountain to climb to get to
the bottom of this, with the head of his department Stone played by Boris Kodjoe
(Starship Troopers 3 : Marauder), not happy with his tactics, and Tom himself
having doubts about the whole idea of surrogates, unlike his wife Maggie played
by the gorgeous Rosamund Pike (The Libertine), who prefers this new life than
any other, and looking at her surrogate and indeed virtually all of the
surrogates, you can see why, as they all look young and flawless, there is a
memorable scene where the real Tom comes into his police department and the
clerk surrogate looks at him and mutters "you look terrible".

This of course is a warning about how the current state of the Internet could
evolve, from people able to do many things online they previously had to do in
person, to being able to do their daily tasks from the comfort of their
computer.

Movie review for District 9

This is a very surreal futuristic suspense thriller produced by Peter Jackson
(Lord of the Rings Trilogy).

It stars an almost all South African cast, with Sharlto Copley in the lead role
as Wikus Van De Merwe an NMU (Multinational United) who is in charge of
relocating approximately 1 million aliens, whose spaceship has hovered to rest
above Johannesburg, the aliens on first contact were all found to be
malnourished, sick, and needing shelter.

The problem of course is housing over a million aliens, when the local populace
are frightened by their looks, demeanour, and mannerisms as a local indigen
paraphrased says "if there were from this planet we would understand but they
are not even from this planet", they also have a penchant for cat food, as well
as some sudden bursts of anger.

NMU has appointed the happy go lucky Wikus to for see the mass evacuation of
these aliens, who the humans have termed "prauns" because they look like prawns.

The story is told in flashback, with several interviews from people who knew
Wikus and the mass evacuation operation, you start to wonder what happened to
Wikus as they all speak of some ominous event.

It turns out during the mass evacuations NMU had to serve each of the aliens
with an evacuation order, where they had to sign, of course most of the aliens
do not understand what an evacuation means, and there are violent scuffles, as
Wikus accompanied with the mandatory NMU military personnel try to get the
aliens to sign the evacuation order, in some cases according to Wikus, the
aliens hitting the piece of paper away is counted as an agreement. The real
reason of course for the evacuation according to the flashback interviews was to
find alien weapons, it turns out the advanced weapons of the aliens are
biologically engineered to be operated by them only.

Wikus also takes the opportunity during these evacuation notices to ransack the
homes of the aliens looking for anything illegal, during the process he finds an
object, he thinks is some kind of gas canister that could be a weapon, so he
confiscates it, not before attempting to find out how it works, and getting
sprayed in the face by a dark fluid. It turns out the alien who had that object
was a little smarter than most of the "prauns" and the canister was needed to
operate his shuttle hidden underground, back to the mother ship.

Inevitably Wikus gets involved with a violent "praun", and needs a cast on his
left arm, but you notice soon after he is not looking well at all, culminating
to him passing out puking black blood at a party, he is rushed to the hospital,
and he wakes up alarmingly to find his left arm has adopted the features of a
"praun". NMU military whisk him away to their medical facilities, where despite
his protestions he is made to operate a series of alien weapons. He is regarded
as the very first human and alien hybrid and the military arm of NMU are eager
to harvest his organs for bioengineering. However Wikus just wants the alien arm
removed, and wants to get back to his wife. He manages to escape, but chances of
him going back home are made virtually impossible with all the media reporting
malicious rumors about him and the entire NMU military arm looking for him.

He is left with no choice but to go back to the "prauns" he despises, in a
desperate bid for help before the metamorphosis is complete.

It is mesmerising viewing, and Wikus captures the desperation of a man about to
lose everything to the point of his humanity brilliantly.

It is rare science-fiction film, as it is set in South Africa, but you realise
soon after the reasons why, as it parallels victimisation of the "prauns" with
apartheid.

Santa Claus is Dead -- But Internet Marketing Get Rich Scams Aren't
Copyright (c) 2009 Paul Marshall

Yes, Santa Claus IS really dead. Sorry for the news. And you
might want to keep the kids from looking over your shoulder here
for the next few minutes. :-)

As an Internet Marketing Coach, I hear all the time from new
clients how they've wasted hundreds to thousands on Internet
get-rich-quick schemes before coming to me.

Desperation and inexperience are the breading grounds that allow
these scammers to prey.

Just this last week, one of my colleagues replied to a guy on a
forum who wanted to start earning $5,000 each month -- oh, and
within the next 30 days. And he had $80.00 to invest, a whole
eighty dollars!

I'm sure the guy is nice, but he also sounds desperate. How is
anyone going to start earning literally thousands of dollars a
month within 30 days on just an $80.00 investment?

Isn't this scenario as realistic as saying ALL the employees at
your local fast food restaurant earn $100,000 per year?

Yes, Saint Nick is gone and did I mention that The Tooth Fairly
is on life support?

Let's get real.

Are You Real about Internet Earnings and the Business Costs
Required?

Back to my big spender above who has just $80.00 to
invest...where did he get the idea he could be a successful
Internet marketer on an $80.00 investment?

My guess is he probably got that idea from some forum.

And that may bring up a good point: are you likely to get good
advice going to forums?

Me personally, I'm too busy to participate in forums. Although
to be fair, I do have successful SEO (search engine optimization)
colleagues who do. But while you could encounter a talented
person to give you -- free advice -- on a forum, my best advice
to you is you are more likely to encounter people with -- free
time.

If they have so much free time to participate in forums, how busy
are they with paid work?

And about free advice...how many people do you personally know
who work for free? How would they pay their bills?

Do YOU work for free now?

Are you going to be working for free with your online enterprise?
If you're not, then why should someone else?

If you want to earn $100,000 per year form your Internet
business, do you want your advice coming from someone offering
free advice OR only charging $20.00 per hour?

OK, You've Got Some Money to Invest in Your Internet Business,
What's Your Next Step?

Well, protect it and spend it carefully! Watch out for "blue
sky" promises of anything that sounds too good to be true.

Compared to conventional advertising and marketing, you don't
need that much money to market online. But you do need some.

You need money for a Web site and you need some for marketing,
likely PPC (pay-per-click) and SEO.

The more cash you have to invest, the less time you have to
invest. You can hire an Internet Marketing Company to perform
much of the work for you.

OR, the less money you have, the more of your time that will be
required. This can be a very good time to considering hiring an
Internet Marketing Coach, to save you money and speed up the
timetable for you to earn income.

The problem is the people with no money to invest OR with
unrealistic expectations are the ones who fall prey to the
Internet marketing scammers. Often, these are the same people who
don't have the skills to do any of the work themselves or the
desire to develop the required skills (sigh).

An Example of what To Do...and what NOT To Do

Consider another one of my clients who paid $1,000 for a
well-known Internet marketing program. My client was told all
sorts of inconsistent things, including that the course was for
people new to online marketing, which that wasn't the case.

And he was told to market something online that he didn't know
anything about or have any particular interest in.

Huh??

How does THAT make any sense?

But at that moment, that was what he wanted to hear, because it
was easy and didn't require much effort or time from him.

Here's the real deal: there are dozens, hundreds or thousands of
people and companies marketing the same or similar product or
service to yours. You have to do it BETTER.

That requires time and effort. It requires making an effort and
using one's brain.

And this is where a qualified Marketing Coach or a Search Engine
Optimization Firm can help you.

If you select well, the money you spend you will more than save
in increased profits, much faster and avoiding the potholes and
pitfalls that come with Internet marketing. Those pitfalls can be
very expensive (and time consuming).

And there are actually Internet Marketing Coaches you can begin
with for only a few hundred dollars, which could be money very
well spent. :-)

With the increasing demand of high quality content on the web,
finding original articles and carefully stylized content is a
priority for companies to retain credibility. With today's
fierce search engine ranking competition, a steady supply of
original articles has become a necessity. Websites need to be
designed to increase traffic, and sites updated regularly with
fresh information are more likely to receive higher search engine
placement than those updated less frequently. As a result,
companies need to find sources of new and original content as
often as possible. The challenge is finding human writers who
can provide original articles with the right tone, voice, and
quality that the company needs, and also at the right price.

Before the emergence of computer programs that could 'create'
articles and pieces of web content, human writers were
responsible for developing all the original content for websites.
However, with the rise of blogs and websites for independent
publishers, several applications are now available that simply
churn out content made from a computer program. While these have
the potential to create several articles on a given topic, they
do have limitations. Semantics, sentence structure, meaning, and
even punctuation are often overlooked with these content spinners
and programs, and if they are caught by a search engine, the risk
of website blacklisting runs high.

Human writers provide reliable, authentic, and original content
on a regular basis. By making use of natural creative processes
to develop and present an idea, they can develop a series of
original articles for any website or company.

The Value of Authentic Content and Original Articles

All website and business owners know how valuable original
content is for search engine placement, website validity, and
credibility in their industry. Without a steady supply of
original articles, it is difficult to keep visitors returning to
the site and maintaining interest in the company. The increasing
popularity of blogs is just one example of why 'content is
king' still rings true on the web today. Human writers can
develop articles and unique ideas far better than any computer
software and application. Unfortunately, many companies choose
applications that lead to poor quality content and a decrease in
their credibility.

What Content Creating Software Does

Content creation software is designed to string words and
sentences based on a topic and basic article. These programs run
several variations of an article by substituting synonyms and
words throughout the page, and reconstructing sentences to
generate a 'new' or original article. Today's leading content
duplication and content creation software programs include:
Article Content Spinner, Jetspinner, SiteEqualizer, ArticlePro,
and Article Output.

While these article and content spinner programs offer many
promises of 'well-written' article and original content, they
are not always accurate enough to catch duplicate sentences, and
they often have trouble even putting together sentences that make
sense. In many cases, their processes are considered to be forms
of copyright theft, especially if the original article used as
the input was not generated by the owner. Search engines that
can find even one sentence duplicated from an article can bar the
website from being listed on the rankings, and a single sentence
'stolen' in this way is at risk for copyright infringement.

Why Companies Need to Pursue Quality Human Writers

Google is the leading search engine on the internet, and
specifically outlines its duplicate content policy in the user
terms. Article spinners that help generate 'original articles'
can create significant damage to a company's page ranking and
credibility online, putting them at risk for copyright
infringement and other penalties. Submitting just a single
article to an article directory can be shared across multiple web
pages and websites, but using a content spinner to create
'fresh' content from this very same article puts all of the
content at risk.

Article marketing has become an industry in itself, but finding
high quality human writers is the most efficient, and safe,
method of generating valid clicks and increasing visitors to the
site. Human writers can provide benefits beyond the limitations
of article content creation services. These include completely
original article batches, clear and consistent messages, an
author's voice, powerful words and phrases that are easy to read
by all visitors, and simply and efficiently provide unique and
creative ideas in an original format. Human writers can often
provide a fresh perspective on a topic or idea, something that
cannot be achieved with automated article writing software
packages.

Article Marketing Advice: Increasing the Readability of Your Articles
Copyright (c) 2008-2009 Hunter Waterhouse
Online Marketing for Local Businesses
http://onlinemarketinglocal.com/

When it comes to writing articles to promote your online
business, it's important to consider more than just your
marketing goals: it's essential that you also focus on writing
articles that people will want to read. In other words, you
don't just want to use words; and you don't want to market and
sell your business directly. Instead, you want to make an effort
to be engaging and influential.

The first tip that will help you to increase the readability of
your articles is to write with the reader's concerns in mind. If
you are unsure of exactly how to do that, you may want to look
into article ghostwriters who understand article marketing and
who only focus on writing articles for Internet audiences. When
you work with article ghostwriters, you can focus more on your
business and know that someone else is working hard on your
behalf to write articles that will be read.

Getting The Best Results From Your Article Marketing Campaigns

Still, if you want to keep article writing within your company,
rather than outsourcing it, here are some tips for getting more
out of your article marketing campaigns:

1. Hook your readers from the start. Article writing is a lot
more effective for marketing your business when people will
actually read the articles. The best thing that you can do is to
catch their interest right away. Your article title will
determine if people will open your article, and the first
paragraph will ensure that people keep reading the article.

2. Avoid the temptation to overwhelm your readers with a lot of
information. Article writing is not about telling the reader
everything that there is to know; it's about sticking with a
central focus and giving your reader an introduction or overview
of the information they want and need to solve their problems. In
an article that probably won't be much more than one thousand
words, you will never be able to tell the reader everything they
need to know to solve a problem, but you can help put your reader
on solid footing for moving forward towards a workable solution.

3. Break up information into digestible chunks. Writing articles
is about expressing some key points. When it comes to writing
articles for the internet, what you are going to find is that
many readers skim rather than read your articles. Using numbered
lists (like this one) will help you to present your information
clearly, and let readers find what they are looking for quickly.
Similarly, if you use bullet lists or break up your text with
subheadings that are in a larger font and bolded, you can be sure
that after reading your article, the article's key points will
be easily recalled.

4. When it comes to article writing, particularly when you are
working to establish yourself as an expert, it's important to
show that you know what you're talking about. A great way of
doing that - and to break up the text of your article - is to
include quotes from more established experts. If you are writing
articles and are more established, you too should quote other
sources, possible letting the readers know why you disagree with
another writer.

5. Focus on spelling and grammar. Just as someone who is hiring
article ghostwriters should take the time to find ghost writing
services that are well versed in your point of view, it's also
important to be sure that you're writing in the native language
of your target audience. American English is different from that
spoken and written in England and India. Paying attention to your
spelling and grammar shows that you care about what you are
saying and that you are a professional.

A good example of the difference between the usage rules in
British English and American English is the story of Paul
Marshall from Dallas, Texas. When Paul was running his mortgage
business, he had hired some Indian writers to develop content for
his website. When he received the copy from his ghostwriters, the
copy used the word "mortgage scheme" in the text eleven times.
Paul was pissed, as you might well imagine. In British English,
"scheme" does not carry any negative connotation. Yet, as you
may well realize, "scheme" in American English is one of the
most negative words that can be applied to any business model. It
denotes "dishonesty" and "fraud" in American English. His
Indian writers could not understand his anger with their choice
of words, but you can understand his anger.

Professionalism In The Article Writing Process

Professionalism, unfortunately, is frequently overlooked when it
comes to article writing. Great writing flows, not just for the
writer whose aim is to get the words and message out, but also
for the readers who are consuming the information.

Because of this, one key element of an effective article is not
the writing itself: it is the readability of that article. Take
the time to look at the articles that grab your attention and jot
a few notes about each of them. Specifically, focus on the
following:

  * How did the writer grab your attention (or, if you weren't
interested in the first paragraph, what turned you off?

  * What sort of spacing did the writer use in the article?

  * What did you come away with after reading the article? In
other words, what were the key points of the article?

Writing articles is neither purely science nor purely art – at
its best; it is a good combination of the two. A great article
focuses on a key issue, isn't stuffed with keywords (you do want
search engines to find the article, but too many keywords in an
article takes away from readability), and is as easy to skim, as
it is to read.

When all is said and done, an article that gets read in its
entirety will carry the reader to the Author's Bio at the end of
the article. Ideally, the reader will read the entire article and
feel a desire to visit the author's website to learn more about
the writer of the article. It is article marketing at its best,
when the reader likes the article enough to click on the link in
the Author's Bio and visit the author's website to learn more
about what the author is offering.

Honestly speaking, standard soccer coaching drills that do not
include free drills will not be sufficient to envisage something useful
coming up from the enthusiastic team members. As a coach, you
must sure that they are adequately included in the practice
sessions.

Be in charge of your body: This is the key thing to master in soccer.
When the player is moving about in the field with the ball trying to
make his way through the opponents, his control over his body is
instrumental in attacking the opposition. But how would you
guarantee this talent in each team member? Make them play a
very interesting game during soccer drills. What is required is that
the players use any of their articles or accessories to make a tail
and be a part of this amusing game. Then their mission is to catch
each others tails while protecting their own. What is interesting is
that the ball is not needed for this activity to take place initially.
Stop using the superficial tails and start using the ball after your
team has understood the message. As is evident, these soccer
coaching drills polish their skills in protecting the ball while at the
same time exercising greater control over the body.

Keeping the ball in the air: This drill will eventually help your team
grow into multifaceted professionals. Stand in the center and direct
your team members to make a circle around you. Then pass the
ball to players one by one and make them pass the same to each
other or to you in return. The objective is to keep the ball in the air
and not allow it to touch the ground at any time. This activity
restricts your players from using their hands at any point in time.
Involve only your head, feet or knees. At the beginning, you can
have them do this in big groups and eventually, introduce smaller
groups. There are several positive returns from these soccer
exercises such as the ability to focus, coordinate, and kick the ball.

Respond and react: One of the many useful soccer training drills to
teach the players to react immediately and with force. Tell the
players to make a circle and stand with their backs to each other.
Choose a player and tell him to stand in the center of the circle.
This player will take a player's name randomly and kick the ball at
him. The other player will react as fast as he can, turn around, and
control the approaching ball in the best possible way.

In conclusion, these soccer coaching drills help your players not
just learn new skills but also master themselves in controlling their
body and mind. Soccer demands a great deal of involvement from
the mind as well as body. Hence, help your players make the most
of these drills so that they can exercise great control over both.

coaching community. This will not just make you richer in
knowledge but also allow you to impart it to your kids in the best
possible way.
