I can give this hint...
Extend AB and CD to meet at E. triangle BCE is equilateral ar its all 3 angles r
60 degrees.side is 4/3 each.
Now AE=4+(4/3)nd CD=5+4/3.angle AED=60degree.
Calculate area of triangle nd subtract it w/ area of BCD to get area of quadri.

Hi, This question is a bit tuff.. please tell me how to solve this
Ques : There are a certain no of pages in a book, "A" tore a certain page out of the book and later found that the average of the remaining page numbers is 608/13. So what are teh page numbers that been torned?
33.
Let
ABCD be a quadrilateral such that angle ABC = angle BCD = 120 , and AB
= 3 BC = 4 and CD = 5 , then area of quadrilateral ABCD is
a) 57
b) 67
c) 87
d) (47 )/4
I am getting a totally different answer.please correct me if I am wrong
Ans :
If a line segment parallel to side BC is drawn from vertex A to intersect side CD, then we would have an isoscelestrapezoid,
The two base angles then would measure 60 degrees each.
Solving for h (the height of this isosceles trapezoid):
h = (AB)sin60deg = 3cmsin60 deg = 2.6 cm
x = (AB)cos60deg = 3cmcos60 deg = 1.5 cm
Area of isosceles trapezoid = (1/2)(B + b)h
A = (1/2)[(1.5 + 1.5 + 4)+ 4](2.6)
A = 14.3 cm^2
Solving for the area of small triangle:
altitutde = 7sin60 deg = 6.06 cm
As = (1/2)(2)(6.06)
As = 6.06 cm^2
Area of ABCD = A + As = 14.3 + 6.06 = 20.36 cm^2 ANS

If u find out the remainder when 517 is divided by 9,its 72.The number would now take the form "72x" .now the closest multiple of 89 is 712. Lets take x to be 0 then y has to be 9 so that the number is perfectly divisible by 89.similarly if u try giving values to from 1 to 9,u would c that when x is 9,y has to be 8...for no other values of x the remaider would be 0
so only two such number exist

Q What is the area of the triangle with base 10 cm & height 5 cm?
I. Area of a triangle = 1/2 * base * height
II. Half the height of the triangle is 2.5 cm.
Therefore, the number will be of the form 1260*n+5
Substitute n=7,
we get 8825

3-4-5 is a Pythagorean triplet. What about others. Read on the following to understand how to develop more such triplets.
Pythagoras Theorem
For a right angled triangle
The square of the hypotenuse = sum of squares of the other two sides.
In the given figure AB2 + BC2 = AC2
Some Pythagorean Relation
Properties of Pythagorean Relation
Any integer 'n' can be multiplied with P to get other triplets
Pythagorean relation. i.e. Pythagorean relation will be unaltered. If n = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ...} therefore (nP)2 + (na)2 = {n(a + 1)}2 for example;
1. If triplet (3, 4, 5) multiply by 2 to get (6,8,10) 2. If triplet (5, 12, 13) multiply by 3 to get (15, 36, 39) and so on
Note: Every Pythagorean triplet can be found out by this relation.
Suppose the number is 111110. It is divisible by 10,5, 2 but not with 4. We can try with other supposed number like 101010 it will give u the same result
Cheers

Q What is the area of the triangle with base 10 cm & height 5 cm?
I. Area of a triangle = 1/2 * base * height
II. Half the height of the triangle is 2.5 cm.
I came across these FAQ's for CAT 2009, thought it would be helpful for you all to read this, as I had few queries and it got answered by this writeup.
Q.What is the reporting time for the test?
2 hours prior to the test time. If the test begins at 10 AM, you are advised to reach the test centre by 8AM and no later than 8:30 AM.
Q.What is the duration and pattern of the test?
2 hours 30 minutes including 15 minutes tutorial. The actual test may contain about 60 to 70 questions.
Q. What identification documents are required to be carried to the test centre?
The candidate will need to bring their CAT 2009 Admit Card, voucher, a valid document as proof of SC/ST eligibility (if applicable) and also one photo-identification to the test centre. Candidates will not be permitted to take the test if photo identification and Admit Card is not presented.
Q. What are the permitted materials I can carry to the test centre?
None. You will not be permitted to carry any personal items to the test centre, including wrist-watch, pen, cellphones, calculators, etc.
Q. Do I have any test breaks?
No, you will not be given any breaks during the test.
Q. Will I be provided with any scratch paper for rough work and calculations during the test?
At the test venue, each candidate will be provided with a scratch paper for calculations. Rough work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet, as nothing will be allowed inside the testing room.
Results:
Q. Will I get to see my scores on the test day?
No.
Q.Within how many days can I expect the results?
CAT 2009 results will be declared from January 22, 2010.
Interesting way to solve the question but you made a calculation error in this step: ((5^9)^56)/11 -> (5*(3^4)^56)/11 It should have been: ((5^9)^56)/11 -> ((5*(125)^3)^56)/11 -> ((5*(4^3)^56)/11 ->.... ->5(ANS)
With that 5 is coming out as the answer which matches with other responses.
