answer is E as the questios says diffrence... and diffrence is always absolute... so diffrence between 5 and three is always 2 ... so it is either 35 or 53 thus answer is E...

Hi,

    The Answer should be C

Since the difference between 5 and 3 is 2 where as the difference between 3 and 5 is -2. Since it stated in B the difference between the digits is 2 the number should be 53 and not 35.

true...but again, the question does not state that 5 is in the ten's position ....ie : difference is 2 , but "positions" of the digits is not specified...
if 5 is in units position, we can still take the 'diff of digits' as "5-3=2"...
the ambiguity remains..
hence the ans should be : E - cant be answered

@Ganesan

Difference between two numbers means ( greater number - smaller number ) and not ( first number - second number ).
So in both the cases the difference will be 2.( not -2 for 35).

Atfirst we have to put 10 balls in 10 urns.First think about 5 white balls which we have to put in 5 of the 10 urns.So we can choose the urns in 10C5 ways and as the balls are similar, no more arrangement is needed. As we choose these 5 urns automatically we gat the another 5 urns where 5 black balls have to be kept. Now we have 1 white ball and 1 black ball which we can distribute among these 10 urns in any way we like.

When we put both of them in same urn, number of possible ways= 10c1

and when we put them on seperate urns it becomes =10p2

So total number of possible ways= 10c5*( 10+ 10p2) = (10*9*8*7*6)/(5*4*3*2)*( 10+ 10*9 ) = 252 * 100 = 25200

POINTS TO REMEMBER:

1.      The general form of an even number is 2n, n Î W.

2.      The general form of an odd number is 2n + 1, n Î W.

3.      If a number `x' divides another number `y' exactly, then we say `x' is a factor of `y' and `y' is a multiple of `x'.

4.      A pair of primes are said to be twin primes if they differ by 2. For example   3 and 5; 11 and 13; 17 and 19 etc.,

5.      Two numbers are said to be co-prime or relatively prime if their gcd is 1. For example 4 and 15; 11 and 16; 17 and 19 etc.,

6.       To say any number `N' is a prime, if that number does not divisible by all those primes which are less than root N.

7.      A number for which the sum of all its factors is twice the number itself is called a perfect number. The numbers 6, 28 etc., are perfect numbers.

8.      If 2k –1 is a prime number, then 2k - 1(2k –1) is a perfect number, where k > 1.

9.      Every number greater than one can be expressed as product of prime factors is known as prime factorization.

10.    If the GCD of any two numbers `a' and `b' is `k', then the GCD of `ma' and `mb' is `mk', where `m' Î N.

11.    Product of two numbers = LCM ´ GCD

12.    LCM of numbers is always a multiple of GCD of those numbers.

13.    If `x' is a common factor of `a' and `b', then it is also a factor of (a – b).

14.    Squares of natural numbers end with the digits 0, 1, 4, 5, 6, and 9 only and numbers ending with the digits 2, 3, 7 or 8 are never perfect squares.

15.    The number of zero's in the end of a perfect square is never odd.

16.    Any square of a number can be expressed as either 3k or 3k+1 or 4k or 4k+1, where k Î W.

17.    Difference of two consecutive square numbers is an odd number and conversely every odd number can be expressed as difference of two consecutive squares.

18.    (an – bn) is always divisible by (a – b), where n Î N.

19.    (an – bn) is divisible by (a + b), when `n' is even.

20.    (an – bn) is never divisible by (a + b), when `n' is odd.

21.    (an + bn) is divisible by (a + b), when `n' is odd.

22.    (an + bn) is not divisible by (a + b), when `n' is even.

23.    (an + bn) is never divisible by (a – b).

I had a doubt regarding the XAT 2009 Essay Test.

I wanted to know whether the essay is to be
written in pencil or pen.

Also, kindly let me know if performance in the
essay test is included for calling candidates for
GD/PI or if the essay test performance is counted

Dear AV,

After XAT exam 15 min will be given to you for the essay writing. that time you can write it on pen. basically in the essay writing, your way or writing, verbal ability and grammar. no one can predicted abt u r performance at that time. in GD/PI, you may asked to explain about your essay....

25!=2^22 x 3^10 x 5^6 x 7^3 x 11^2 x 13 x 17 x 19 x 23

2^6 x 5^6 will be used to produce zeros.

25! =2^16 x 3^10 x 7^3 x 11^2 x 13 x 17 x 19 x 23 x(2^6x5^6)
unit digit:6x  9     x 3   x   1    x  3  x  7  x  9  x 3= 4 ans.
