In mathematics, the integers a and b are said to be coprime or relatively prime if they have no common positive factor other than 1 or, equivalently, if their greatest common divisor is 1.[1] The notation a  \perp  b is sometimes used to indicate that a and b are relatively prime.[2]

For example, 6 and 35 are coprime, but 6 and 27 are not coprime because they are both divisible by 3. The number 1 is coprime to every inte

Hi,

1) 24700 = 247*100 = 13 x 19 x 2^2 x 5^2 (expressed in prime numbers)

Number of ways of obtaining m x n such that they are coprime and also mx n = 24700 is
4C1+ 4C2 = 4 + 6 = 10.

Hopefully this is right.

Hi Friends,

 Can any one help in sloving the following problems

1) Find the Number of ways in which 24700 can be expressed as a product of two co-primes?
2) Find the smalles number which when divided by 13 leaves 9 as the remainder and when divided by 17 leaves 2 as the remainder?

Thanks & Regards,

The answer is 8. Any number subtracted by the sum of its digits will be a multiple of 9.  The total of the remaining digits is 46 and hence the closest multiple of 9 greater than 46 is 54. So ,54-46 is 8.

Yes It has a small Formula. Don't you know that?
      First we write like this   7+14 +21+ ...........+994
 ( this is the Numbers divisible by 7 within 1000).
      Then we takeout the common value from the above form like this
                                    =   7(1+2+3+.........+142)
        Here is a formula to calculate the value (1+2+3+.........+142). The Formula is n(n+1)/2. Where n=142.

dear friend

as ramu has added the pages from 1 to n so n*(n+1)/2 must be greater than 1023 as he had left one page..

so n * (n+1)/2 >1023

i.e. n>45
if we take n=45
n * (n+1)/2 = 1035 i.e he has forgotten 12 n. page ..
but the question asked for maximum

so we have to check for n = 46 also so n*(n+1)/2 = 1081.
i.e he has forgotten the no. 1081 - 1023 = 58 which is not possible as total no. of pages is 46.
so answer is 45 total pages n he has left 12 no. page...
enjoy....... .....

the number 17x + 5 where x is a whole number, is when divided by 17, will always give a remainder 5. when this number is divided by 357 for x = 21, remainder is 5. but for some other value of x, say 22 remainder is 22, for x = 23 remainder is 39 and so on. so, according to me, answer is indeterminable.

here addition of digits is referred and not the each page number.
please see to it.

Correct solution to the answer given by you:

when we add 119 nos. its total comes to 1023.

it is said that one number is missed out.
1) to find max. no. of pages in the book, missed out number should be such that sum of digit is maximum, so it should be 99. and 9+9=18.

and when we add sum of digits of 120,121,122,123. it comes to exact 18.
so ans. is 123.

2) 99 could be the page number that ramu missed.

For any futher clarification please feel free to contact.

The maximum no that is possible is 45.
As sum of a series is n*(n+1)/2
Also the missing no =27 as sum of the first 45 digit is 1050.

answer(145)
                                 let the number is x

as we know that number- 13x+2 or x=13-2=11 so that,number=

hi,
answer for 1 question is 8
Number of ways a number can be expressed as a product of two co-primes is 2^(n-1) (^ - power, n - different prime factors of d number).
here 24700=13*19* 5*5*2*2
n=4
so 2^3 = 8

hi maha lakshmi

as vimlesh said answer 87 is right method to get is...

Number ca be written as 13d1+9 = 17d2+2

or 13d1+7 = 17*d2......
so we have to find a smallest value of d1 such that 13d1+7 ..is copletly
divisible by 17...
we get this value for d1=6...that is 13*6+7==85
but this 85 == 13d1+7..and our number was 13d1+9....so the required smallest
no. is 87....

The correct answer is 741. You need to remove all the points on the
hypotenuse so formed, and the other two sides also.
Its forms a triangle with a total of [(1/2 * 41*41)] = 840.5 area or approx
841 points. Now, the hypotenuse is of length = sqrt(41^2 + 41^2) . Then
subtract the other sides and you get the final answer as 741 :)

SOLUTION-

as u know minimum no. of multiple is 1 and maximum multiple is 1000/7=142 then 7(1+2+3+4+.. .....142) = 142/2[2*1+(142- 1)1]=10153, answer

multiples of seven
are 7,14,21,.... ......... 994
sum is 7*(1+2+3+4+5+ ......... ..+142)
= 7*142*143/2

= 71071

Hi kapil,

a+b+c+d do 1/20th of the work in a day.

1/4th work takes 5 days.

After A left, additional 6 days required. Hence b+c+d take (15+6) = 21 days for 3/4th work
b+c+d do 3/4*1/21 of the work in a day ==> b+c+d will complete the whole of work in 28 days

1/2 work now takes 5 + 7 = 12 days

B left,additional 4 days required. Hence c+d take (14 + 4) = 18 days for 1/2 work
c+d do 1/2*1/18 of the work in a day ==> c+d will complete the whole work in 36 days.

3/4 work now takes 5+7+9 = 21days

C left. addtional 2 days required. Hence d takes 9+2 = 11days to do 1/4th work
d will take 1 / (1/4 *1/11) = 44 days to complete whole work.

1/c + 1/d = 1/36
1/c + 1/44 = 1/36

c= 198 days

If the sum of the digits is equal to 9, the number is a multiple of 9. Now
find the first multiple of 9 that comes after 1000. It would be 1008. Now
count the last one ending before 10000 and that has to be 9999.
The respective quotients are 112 and 1111. Hence, the total numbers having
sum of digits as 9 is (1111-112+1) = 1000. The method by Narayana Reddy can
be flawed at times wen the number just starts with a multiple of 9 and ends
with one, but the above method is full proof. :)
Cheers:)

This is an incomplete question. Lets take the number as 22. It satisfies the condition of leaving remainder as 5 when divided by 17 but no answer matches when we divide it by 357. Similarly other numbers which do not match the criteria are 56, 73 etc,,,,

see in these kind of questions you actually need to find the no. of 5s in the expression...you must be knowing how to find no. of 5s in any factorial......

like

4! has no 5
5! to 9! each  has one five
10! to 14! each has 2 five etc

25! has 5+1= 6 etc

inthis way u can make series

4*0+ 5(1+2+3+4+6+7+8+9+10+12+13+14+15+16+18+19+20+21+22+24)

== 5*(sum(1 to 24 ) - 5 -11 - 17 - 23)

== 5*(24*25/2  - 56)

== 5*(300-56)

== 1220.................number of zeros.....

The answer is 8. Any number subtracted by the sum of its digits will be a multiple of 9.  The total of the remaining digits is 46 and hence the closest multiple of 9 greater than 46 is 54. So ,54-46 is 8.

Hi,

Please give solution to the following prob--

A teacher wrote a 10 digit number on the board and asked her students to subtract the sum of digits of  the number from the
number. Raju performed the subtraction but accidently erased one of the digits in the result. The remaining digits were 1, 2, 3, 3, 6,
6, 8, 8, 9( not necessarily in that order) which digit did Raju erase?

1)    9        2)    8
3)    4        4)     Cannot be determined

i think we get 1023 some of digits from adding the digits of numbers from 1 - 120 .

 as sum of digits from 1-9 is =45 it repeats 10 times so 450 for unit digits ok.
 now for the ten's digits 1 - 9 digits each repeats 10 times so sum is 450 here too.

hence total sum of digits upto 99 is 900.

now 100 sum of digits =1
now from 101 - 119 sum fo digits at unit place 90.
from 110 -119.

for ten's digit it is 10
and for hundred's digit it is
from 101 - 119th sum of digits is = 19

so total sum is 900+90+10+19+1=1020 so the digit 120 must be include
because it gives us correct sum 1023. right

now as to make pages maximum we can think that atleast one of digits is 9 so we have to take  next numbers 121, 122. but it does not make it the maximum because there is one more solution that is 123 whose some of digit is 6 so the missed out number can be 96 or 69.

plz give me ur explanation if i m wrong

1. Let the total distance be x km.
    x-(21x/50 + 4x/50)=2
    x/2 = 2
    x=4 km.

2. speed = distance/time
    s=420/t
    s+10 = 420/(t-1)
    substituting value of s in 2nd equation, we get quadratic equation in t.
    t=7
    Therefore, s=420/7=60km/hr

Time & Distance problems...pls discuss the method.

1] A man performs 2/25 of his journey by bus, 21/50 by car    and the remaining 2 km on foot. find the total journey

2] A car covers 420 km with constant speed. if its speed were 10km/h more it would have taken 1 hr less to cover the distance. find the speed of the car.

It is of the format:

(1/3) [ {(1/5 - 1/8)} + {(1/8) - (1/11)} + ....... + {(1/242) - (1/245)}]

= 1/3 * [1/5 - 1/245]

= 1/3 * [(240)/(5*245)]

= 16/245 ---> Ans.

2] As we know tht for a constant distance speed is inversely proportional to
time, hence for the ques
s/(s+10) = (t-1)/t
where s and t are original speed and time resp.
also s*t=420
on solving both equation we get s=60 kmph and t=7 hrs

Alternative method..
Two equations are..
s*t = 420           .....(1)
(s+10)*(t-1) = 420   ....(2)
Taking factors of 420
420 = 1*420
     = 2*210
     = 3*140
     = 4*105
     = 5*84
     = 6*70
     = 7*60
.
.
.
.
On seeing the last two factors and the equations we can easily tell the answer.
i.e speed = 60kmph and time = 7hrs

Please kindly let me know if there is any other method.

1] Total journey travelled by bus and car= 2/25 + 21/50 = 25/50 = 1/2
This implies tht half of the journey was travelled by car and bus.
The remaining half is given = 2km
Hence total jorney = 2+2 = 2kms (Ans.)

 This is simple school mathematics in the fractions chapter

1. add the fractions - 25/50 covered by bus & car.
    So remaining 25/50 or 1/2 (2km) was covered by foot. hence journey is 2km * 2/1 = 4km

2. let the speed be x km/hr..
    420/x = 420/(x+10) + 1
=> 420(x+10) = 420x + x(x+10)
=> x^2 + 10x - 4200 = 0

Solve for x. Ans = 60km/hr
