u needn go by divisiblity rules . since number of the form 517xy just subs 00
for x&y and u get a reminder of 80 . so 51709 is div by 89 and 51709+89=51798
also divi by 89. so ans s two forms 51709 and 51798

2q) since when divided by three ermin is always 1 or 2 even if its a sqr of tat
num ans is either 1 or 2

1. As 'B' is 60% more efficient than 'A',
    we get,
                B = 1.6A

    As 'A' takes 12 days, 'B' takes 12/1.6 days
    = 7.5 days

2. L.C.M(12,18,35) is 1260
    Therefore, the number will be of the form 1260*n+5
    Substitute n=7,
    we get 8825

1-> The only possiblities for xy are 09 and 98

If u find out the remainder when 517 is divided by 9,its 72.The number would now take the form "72x" .now the closest multiple of 89 is 712. Lets take x to be 0 then y has to be 9 so that the number is perfectly divisible by 89.similarly if u try giving values to from 1 to 9,u would c that when x is 9,y has to be 8...for no other values of x the remaider would be 0

so only two such number exist

a) Work done by A in a day = 1/12
    Work done by B in a day = (1*1.6)/12

Days taken by B = 12/1.6 = 8

b) LCM of 12,18, 35 = 1260
    Largest 4 digit multiple of 1260 is 1260*7 = 8820
    So the number is 8825

c)LCM of 7,10,15,21 = 210
   Largest 4 digit multiple of 210 is 210 * 47 = 9870
   So the number is 9867

its 376.

First place should be take 1,2,3 in 3 ways.
second place can occupy any of 5 in 5 ways
third so on
fourth so on

hence 3*5*5*5 = 375
and the number which starts from 4 is 4000 itself, so 376.

Cheers!
Nishant

here take the value of X as follows

f(2)+2f(2009/2)=3*2
2[f(2009/2)+2f(2)=(3*2009)/2 ]

now solving these eq... you will get value of f(2) = 2007.

33.
Let
ABCD be a quadrilateral such that angle ABC = angle BCD = 120 , and AB
= 3 BC = 4 and CD = 5 , then area of quadrilateral ABCD is
a) 57
b) 67
c) 87
d) (47 )/4

I am getting a totally different answer.please correct me if I am wrong

Ans :

If a line segment parallel to side BC is drawn from vertex A to intersect side CD, then we would have an isoscelestrapezoid,
The two base angles then would measure 60 degrees each.

Solving for h (the height of this isosceles trapezoid):
h = (AB)sin60deg = 3cmsin60 deg = 2.6 cm
x = (AB)cos60deg = 3cmcos60 deg = 1.5 cm

Area of isosceles trapezoid = (1/2)(B + b)h
A = (1/2)[(1.5 + 1.5 + 4)+ 4](2.6)
A = 14.3 cm^2

Solving for the area of small triangle:
altitutde = 7sin60 deg = 6.06 cm
As = (1/2)(2)(6.06)
As = 6.06 cm^2

Area of ABCD = A + As = 14.3 + 6.06 = 20.36 cm^2 ANS

I can give this hint...

Extend AB and CD to meet at E. triangle BCE is equilateral ar its all 3 angles r
60 degrees.side is 4/3 each.
Now AE=4+(4/3)nd CD=5+4/3.angle AED=60degree.
Calculate area of triangle nd subtract it w/ area of BCD to get area of quadri.

All The Best,
Girish Hegde

3-4-5 is a Pythagorean triplet. What about others. Read on the following to understand how to develop more such triplets.

Pythagoras Theorem
For a right angled triangle
The square of the hypotenuse = sum of squares of the other two sides.
In the given figure AB2 + BC2 = AC2
Some Pythagorean Relation
Properties of Pythagorean Relation
Any integer 'n' can be multiplied with P to get other triplets Pythagorean relation. i.e. Pythagorean relation will be unaltered.
If n = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ...} therefore (nP)2 + (na)2 = {n(a + 1)}2 for example;
1. If triplet (3, 4, 5) multiply by 2 to get (6,8,10) 2. If triplet (5, 12, 13) multiply by 3 to get (15, 36, 39) and so on
Note: Every Pythagorean triplet can be found out by this relation.

hi.......
this is a simple question......consider a square with  s>0,s<=a,y>0,y<=a
the 2 semicirles will hv cetre at (a/2,0) and (0,a/2) with a/2 as radius
find their pt of intersection and use integration to calculate its area........it will be in terms of a^2
and the area of the square is a^2................the aswer comes out to be pi-2/8

there is no need to apply integration this problem can be solved by simple geometry. Draw a square and draw two semi circles taking a/2 as a radius along the adjacent sides. u will observe thatthe commonly grazed area can be found by area of semicircle - area of right angle triangle  taking a/2 as a radius. hence the answer will be (pi-2)/8

Hey,

Here is my interpretation:

When you say log x (base 10) = k
you are effectively saying that 10^k is x. See the log graph for more clarification.

Anyhow, if you take the negative base - not every positive number can be expressed as its power.
Therefore, negative base is not allowed.

Hope that helps.
Ashish.

we cant definitely say whether it's possible or not...
everything is conditional in logarithms...
negative bases are possible only under some conditions...

check out the attachment i've provided with in this mail...
that'll be useful in explaining that funda...
also,thanks for asking such a wonderful doubt...
take care...
