When interviewing for a copywriter position, is it unusual to be asked to
produce a 30-second TV commercial, a number of headlines and taglines, a
landing page plus other collateral? Is this copyrighted material or does the
potential employer have the right to use this material regardless of whether or
not they hire the candidate?
I once, for an "interview", was sent home with a "test" that included writing an
entire brochure! I didn't get the job and the company used my work without, of
course, paying me! If I submit materials for the "test", how can I protect
myself - i.e. make sure that the "test" isn't just a way for the company to get
my services for free?
Thanks in advance for all replies!
Laura
