Hello, everyone. If you've been thinking about it, your day of deciding is
almost here! Tomorrow, June 10, is the application deadline for applying to
serve on the NAC.
NAC--National Advisors to Chapters--is the volunteer committee that I serve on.
We provide support to chapter boards as peers who have walked in their shoes. I
have to say that being selected for and now serving as a "NAC-er" has been one
of the most rewarding and fulfilling volunteer services I have ever done.
Being a "NACer" is like being a chapter leader, but on steroids! My experience
has greatly enhanced the value of my ASTD membership and, I believe, enhanced my
ability to serve my clients in my consulting practice. I've had new
opportunities to practice leadership and team development skills, gained
insights into our profession, and greatly expanded my professional network
through my association with chapter leaders, the ASTD staff and board, as well
as my fellow NAC volunteers.
You need to be a former chapter president to serve on the NAC. There are other
National volunteer opportunities, as well, such as the Chapter Recognition
Committee and conference planning committees, and you don't have to have been a
former chapter president for these.
But the NAC has the earliest deadline. And it's tomorrow, June 10. Here's a link
to the committees page, where you'll find the application:
