I discovered another example of poor insurance coverage by at&t today.
*Everybody* recommends that us over 60ers get the shingles vaccine. I finally
decided I had better do it, especially since I had had chicken pox as a child.
So my doctor wrote me a script for Zostavax, and I went to my local drug store
(Sav-on in an Albertsons grocery). Turns out that Medicare Part D covers this
vaccination, but Caremark would *not* authorize payment. (I thought our at&t
prescription coverage was supposed to be "at least equal to" Medicare Part D.)
The pharmacist also tried billing my at&t-provided secondary insurance (Aetna),
but they wouldn't authorize payment either.
Has anyone found a way to get either Caremark or Aetna to authorize payment?
It's just plain stupid to me that neither Medicare nor at&t will pay for
preventative treatments, but they seem more than willing to authorize payment
when you are ill.
