I notice from the current edition of Steam Railway mag, that Barry Island
services are still being advertised - above the 'valeofglamrail' website.
It might be worth someone cotacting them to put the record straight!!

Hi, I am willing to give you a big surprise: www.koreadeal.com. I bought an Apple Mac book one week ago from this website. Now, I have received it. This product quality is very good. They also sell phones, TV, motors and so on. By the way, they mainly sell new and original products and they have many good feedback. Because china is holding their “National day” now, so many companies are promoting their products. Koreadeal website also have very competitive prices. If you need these products, you can have a look. It is a good chance that you should not lose. Greetings!

For those might be unaware, RSH 0-4-0ST 7705 moved to the Garw Valley Railway
last week. The boiler still remains at the Severn Valley but the restoration
will continue at Pontycymer shed overseen by the 7705 loco group. Once work to
the boiler is complete, the loco will be assembled at Pontycymer in readiness
for operations.
In addition, a flat wagon, coal shovel, Lister autotruck, trailer and an
electric platform tug have now arrived at Pontycymer. The shed is now almost
filled to bursting! The brakevan has moved to Quainton Road for temporary
storege.
It is hoped that in the spirit of supporting the local tourism strategy, the GVR
(with VGR members support) will be putting on a display at the Garw Carnival in
August, perhaps even a presence in the actual parade, followed a few weeks later
by an Open Day at the locomotive works.
Plans are progressing well for the works extension which will provide a larger
3-road facility with workshops, office and amenities. This week saw the track
sprayed by a weedkilling machine which has made a huge visual difference to the
line.
That's the latest folks!
Nick.
It took me a while to find the real reason, I was looking at the wood burning plant and Dad's Army articles!

Very interesting. I wonder how long it will take for someone to cotton on that a new operator has taken over but has done diddly squat.....?

Not available next weekend, either (though might be able to do the Monday.
What plans are there for this week?
Andy
I would like to thank all who come and help both during the week and on
weekends.
I understand how difficult it is, but we must finish clearing Barry before we
commit ourselves to Garw or elsewhere.
Work still to be completed at Barry:
- Box up small items and tools then Pallatise them for transport using a create
formed from 5 pallets.
- Burning of non-haz materials (e.g. wood, but not plastic)
- Collecting general rubbish together for disposal
- Collecting scrap from around site
- Move sleepers from end of Plat 4 to P. Rd
- Move cut rail from end of Plat 4 to P. Rd for scrapping
If you are available this Saturday please come and help. The less people we
have the longer it will take and the greater the chance we will get hit with a
fine.
regards,
Mike Fox
Vice Chairman

Current info is that Wayne is NOT available to drive the Duck until Saturday, and that has still to be confirmed on Friday. However, if he does come up, the proposal is to utilise both dumpers and make max effort to shift spoil ; clear the north end area, and clear the proposed site for the Barry containers. Vale volunteers are lilely to come up after lunch Sat to assist. Watch this space folks. (Further details will also appear on the "Applications" section below in due course).
Just a brief email to advise those who are not G-V-R yahoo group members that photos of May 4th's work party are now on the G-V-R site thanks to Peter, Mike and Andy.
A good day Chris and very enjoyable. Sorry for gettting grease over most of the valley...
Ta to Mike for the muffins! Apols to Gareth for wrecking his coat....
See you soon,
Nick.

If anyone is interested then please contact me so I can let relevant people know in order to arrange jobs. Times to be confirmed although previous work days have started by 10:00.
Had an email from Chris Adams yesterday saying that there was no heavy plant available at PontyC tomorrow, and implying that there was little point going up - in fact, he seemed to suggest that he had no idea that there was to be a session.
Can anyone clarify the situation? Would it better for me to be down in Barry?
Andy
PS - the fact that we have 2 different discussions going on, in 2 separate message boards may not help matters. Perhaps
we could organise it so that anything that pertains to work being done up at Pontycymmer is on the B-V-R message board, whilst anything to do with work being down in Barry is on here (cross-reference to the other board, by all means, but ...)

Hi Gareth
I wont be at Pontycymmer due to work commitments, but I understand that you might be at Barry Island on Sunday. If you or anybody else is down there I will try to attend.
