The list's purpose is to document and discuss the history and current events surrounding the railroads in Pennsylvania's Broad Top region as well as Blair and Bedford Counties. Primary focus is on the Huntingdon and Broad Top Mountain Railroad and Everett Railroad, as well as the Pennsylvania RR/Penn Central/Conrail Bedford Secondary and Mt. Dallas, Cove, New Portage and Hollidaysburg and Petersburg (H&P) Secondary Tracks. Discussion surrounding the East Broad Top, Allegheny Southern, Norfolk Southern, and other PRR, Penn Central and Conrail operations, regarding both currently active and abandoned lines in this region, are also encouraged.

While other groups may focus more on mainline PRR/PC/CR/NS operations in the area, we focus most of our attention on the region's lesser known shortlines and branches with the hopes that we can preserve and document what remains for future generations of railfans.
