JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY
The Environmental Coordinator will have the responsibility to coordinate the environmental activities of the Foundation, including the development and implementation of a regional agenda for the environment; the creation of a virtual meeting place for environmental interests; and a program to increase the capacity of environmental organizations in the area. This full time exempt position reports to the Vice President, Program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Coordinate the activities of the WNY Environmental Alliance (WNYEA) to carry out its mission, pursue the alliance’s objectives and develop responses to the opportunities and challenges that arise for the implementation of the regional agenda for the environment.
· Provide staff support to the WNYEA’s work to engage the community in the planning process for the regional agenda and to cultivate participation from public and private sources.
· Manage information/research pertaining to the plan, seek funding for regional priorities and provide technical assistance to members of the WNYEA.
· Engage environmental organizations, the community, and key partners in identifying essential components of a virtual meeting place for the environment called WNY GreenTable. Also assist in identifying appropriate contractors to develop this new website, and assist in the creation of related marketing efforts.
OTHER JOB DUTIES
· Respond to questions and concerns of Foundation Board, staff, and constituents about environmental issues.
· Help organize and participate in meetings and special events.
· Support the mission of the Foundation to connect people, ideas, and resources to improve WNY.
· Perform all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
· 5 years of progressively more responsible experience in the environment and/or program development
· BA in planning, public administration, environmental studies or related field
· Proven track record in program development
· Experience in the nonprofit sector and in community coalition building
· Experience with websites, social networking, and other digital tools
· Strong research and analytical skills
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Computer proficiency in all Microsoft components (Word, Excel, Power Point)
· Experience in working independently and as part of a team
· Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work under pressure
· Commitment to the team effort of the CFGB
