Our 5th
annual community event, “CELEBRATE HILLSBORO presented by Tuality Healthcare” will take place in
downtown Hillsboro
August 8th and 9th. Come join us for the FREE,
fun-packed, family friendly event. We will have live entertainment,
active children’s arts/crafts/inflatable games area, health and eye
screenings, Futsal (street soccer) tournaments, sustainability demonstrations

Regional Arts & Culture Council Project Grant
proposals are currently being collected for the 2010 grant cycle. These grants
can provide technical assistance to Washington
County artists and arts
organizations. Intent to Apply forms are due August 5, 2009 at 5:00pm. For more information about the grants,

Bag&Baggage productions will stage Hillsboro’s
first ever outdoor summer Shakespeare performance in the Tom Hughes Civic Center
Plaza. From July 17
–August 2, they will present a major adaptation of Shakespeare’s
greatest tragedy, Romeo & Juliet; for more information, show times and

On Saturday, July 18, 2009, the Walters
Cultural Arts
Center will host Hillsboro Plein Air: An Outdoor
Painting Event and competition sponsored by the Hillsboro Arts
and Culture Council. This year painters will again enjoy painting the sights of
Main Street
including the Saturday Market. Additionally there will be a series of
historically themed tableaux vivants
presented for those painters with an inclination for figurative and narrative
art. For

Showtime at Shute, Hillsboro's popular summer concert series, begins July 9
at the bandstand in historic Shute
Park, Southeast Eighth Avenue and Maple Street,
adjacent to the Shute Park Branch of the Hillsboro Public Library. Concerts
