"Diversity in Collaboration"
This group is for Artists and Photographers that wish to build a co-operative with the intent of setting up and running a co-operative art gallery. The aim will be for each member to invest in obtaining a share of The Co-Op Artists and Photographers Gallery for the purposes of exhibition and sale of their artwork to the general public through that gallery.
The idea is due to the prohibitive cost of setting up such a gallery on one's own. By doing this co-operatively, the individual cost is proportionally reduced, while each members investment (and obviously return) would be proportional within the gallery to sell artwork.
I think this could have substantial appeal to many artists and photographers who struggle to find an affordable outlet for their artwork and often find they have to pay high commission charges to galleries that do accept their artwork. The aim here is to keep the cost to a minimum and maximise the public exposure to each members artwork. Art sales would be 100% returned to the artist/photographer producing the artwork.
The aim is to create a co-operative based upon diversity. Indeed, the very diversity within the group is what I believe will make it work. It won't just be watercolour artists selling watercolours etc. It will be a diverse collaboration of artists and photographers collectively advertising their artwork through The Gallery.
I am a photographer based in the South East (Kent) with my partner who is an artist. We would initially be looking to develop a core group of interested individuals within the Kent region.
