Sr. Systems Architect
Columbia Falls, Montana
 
Primary Function: .NET System Architect
 
Technical Team Supervision – Lead a team of 4 people comprised of senior and entry level developers.  Provide guidance, mentoring, education, and leadership on how to effectively create and support Plum Creek applications.  Responsible for direct supervision, management of annual performance goals and reviews, and collaborating with other IT team members to allocate resources.  This position will also have responsibility for effectively partnering with and managing the work produced by external consultant development teams.
 
Technical Systems Architecture – Lead systems architecture design discussions and documentation.  Familiarity with best practices for technology and business level technology implementation.  Conduct system architecture audits in conjunction with the Enterprise Architecture Committee to guarantee corporate alignment.  Conduct code level and other systems quality assurance tests and procedures. Experience with enterprise architecture tools such as UML, MS Visual Studio.Net, source control, defect tracking, integration, and workflow tools.  Work collaboratively with other architects and managers to refine and enhance systems development standards and best practices.
 
Technical Project Leadership – Develop a sound understanding of relevant business processes in order to most effectively create software applications.  Lead the Construction phase of the overall software development lifecycle, including the specific development activities and collaboration between internal and external development resources as well as work closely with the project manager.  Provide technical support to users when needed.
 
Technical Design – Work with business analysts and Senior Developers to apply structured analysis and design techniques to translate high-level design specifications into detailed design documents that utilize the most appropriate technology and design patterns available.  Work closely with customers and business analysts to ensure alignment between functional design and resulting software produced.
 
Application Delivery – Work closely with the infrastructure and software development teams to define and document development standards, perform code reviews, and prepare technical documentation.  Manage the overall application build and code promotion processes.  On certain occasions when needed, create and document structured code that is easily maintained by other programmers.
 
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or other degree plus relevant Information Technology experience.

Experience:
A minimum of 7 to 10 years professional Information Technology experience with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a lead developer or architect in a corporate environment.  This experience must include all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): requirements, analysis, design, construction, testing and deployment.  Must possess experience and desire in supervising and mentoring other internal and external technical developers. 
 
Role Specific Requirements:
Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to supervise, inspire, mentor, direct, and foster the abilities of technical software developers.  This candidate must also have the ability to effectively collaborate, educate, listen/learn, and schedule activities with the server/networking team, IT management, external consultants, and functional teams.  This person must be able to effectively document, cross train others, and actively support the career growth of technical resources. 
 
The successful candidate must possess a thorough technical understanding of the .NET Framework tools and concepts along with a deep history of development (traditional ASP, .NET or other).  Required skills include a history of creating end-to-end desktop or web applications utilizing: C#.NET, XML, ADO.NET, ASP.NET, SSRS, and SQL Server.
 
Candidate must have deep architecture design experience working on many enterprise-level integration projects.  He or she must have experience alone and in group settings documenting and white-boarding complex, multi-tiered technical solutions.  Candidate must have deep experience in analyzing, designing, constructing, testing, deploying and documenting similar solutions.
 
Other Requirements:
Must have excellent organizational abilities, written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills.   Must have a proven ability to operate and effectively communicate while under pressure; as well as the ability to manage a diverse workload and work under time constraints with minimal supervision.  Skills in the following areas would be preferred but are not necessary: data mart/warehouse experience, SharePoint, Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
 
Paid relocation for this position is available.
Salary Range:  $68,600 to $90,800.  Plus 28% bonus opportunity available.
