Sr. Resource Forester

Position Specifications
Primary Function:
Planning, preparation and contract administration of sale areas for timber harvesting, road construction and maintenance and silviculture activities. Ensure that contracts meet or exceed budgeted targets, meet agreed log delivery schedules and other commitments. Ensures compliance with environmental and SFI principles. Works with public and regulatory agencies.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or a related field.
Experience:
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of land management and forestry operations by selecting logging sites or sections for harvesting, and/or supervising site preparation, inventory and fertilization. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of log resources management by developing plans to ensure optimal value is realized from log harvesting, handling and merchandising activities. Takes into
consideration customer needs, log quality and market values of different log grades and existing tree species; ability to gain understanding of local and regional markets and pricing trends.
Specific Skills:
Effective communicator. Team-oriented. Strong negotiating skills. Strong personal computer skills. Ability to work well with co-workers, contractors and agencies. Basic understanding of forecasting and budgeting. Willingness to work in the field under adverse weather
conditions and difficult terrain.
