Ok first off go get yourself a scope or station monitor, distortion analyzer, a good power meter, a good dummy load, a spectrum analyzer, 2 audio signal generators, rf signal generator, good volt meter, when you have all that someone may tell you what to do after that.
If you mess with the radio without proper test gear you are going to turn a working radio into a splatter box that splash's 10 channels either side of the one you are on and god only knows what other channels, you can wipe out TV's and stuff so you can PO a lot of people.  Where I am we used to get people doing that and they got told and if they didn't rectify it we made sure they had no choice.

Ya sure crank'em all wide open, with a little luck the radio will let out some of that special blue smoke, but chances are that others in your area, including the ones without cb radios will track your base down and do something you don't want to happen.

If you don't know what you are doing and don't have the equipment you should leave well enough alone.

well no it dont either i went down the road just to see how far this thing would get out and after a mile i couldnt hear my friend that was on base radio and i have this antenna http://www.walcottcb.com/images/M104C.JPG and its wasy up in the air i have done all my swr tuning i get 1.5 on the swr meter when i key down its grounded right i used 2 gague wire for that and rg-11 for the wire going to my radio
so i figure i need more watts i have good modulation i pin the meter out on it thats whith out messing with any thing inside the radio know any thing else i can try to get this thing to get more then a mile away?

Cherokee CBS 100

Increase RF range (RX&TX 25.165 - 29.655)
1. Remove top cover.
2. On backside of front cirt.board.
3. Soldier jumper between two long pins. (labeled (SJ3))
4. Hold (EMG/9) button while turning unit on. (Hold for 3 seconds)
5. Press button again to change bands.
bands A-E & F-J will appear, CB has none.

Other mods are NOT recommended to this radio...

Yes, The power supply was the problem. I was running it on a 3 amp and i hooked it up to my 14 amp and it didnt have the feedback problem. Also i went to a 7 amp fuse in my car and that fixed the car problem. I want to thank everyone who replied to my problem. Have a good day.

It's obvious that you need a bigger power
supply or a buffer battery (car battery in
parallel between the power supply and the
radio). In the car you should run the DC
wires to the load side of the battery cables.
The load side is the side opposite the battery
(the starter solenoid and the engine block).

You can also try subbing in a dummy load in place
of the antenna. If the squealing stops, it's an RF
feedback problem. Make sure the antenna SWR is
low, and that the low side (that connects to the mast)
is grounded. Grounding the station equipment helps
to lower the level of stray RF (radio frequency energy)
that is where it shouldn't be. Connect the cases of
all of your equipment to a length of copper pipe.
Then connect the copper pipe to a ground rod (like the
one that the antenna mast is connected too (hint hint))
using the shortest possible length of heavy wire or
coax braid (the idea is to sink the ground rod as close
as possible to the operating position). If it's not practical
to ground the station equipment directly, run a tuned
counterpoise in place of the ground rod. A tuned
counterpoise is just a length of wire that is attached to
the copper pipe that you run along the floor away from
the station equipment. The tricky part is that it's
supposed to be tuned. Without some way of measuring
the RF current in the wire, tuning it is hit and miss.
Start with say 11 feet and trim it until you feel that the
performance of your station is the best it can be using
any tools at your disposal. The SWR may decrease,
which is a sign of improvment. The RX range may increase,
which is another sign of improvement. And most importantly
the squealing should go away. The counterpoise wire will
lower the RF voltage that is appearing on your equipment
cases and the microphone shield braid. That should
eliminate the squeal. Somewhere around 9 feet will
     be the critical length.

Something to keep in mind is that if the counterpoise
works it indicates an underlying antenna problem. CB
setups using commercially made antennas shouldn't
have a lot of RF on the outside of the coax shield braid
or the equipment cases. The fixes that I described
above are things hams do to make antennas that are
not band-specific work, or to make antennas work on
bands they weren't designed to work on. The fact that
the squealing stops when you sub in a dummy load
is an indicator that stray RF is the problem. Stray
RF is wasted and indicates a less than optimal
performance situation. So even if this works you may
want to try another antenna sometime in the future.

If the squealing doesn't stop with a dummy load, sub
in another mic like the stock mic. If the squealing
stops, the Astatic mic could be miswired in that the
shield braid isn't grounded. If the squealing does
not stop with a dummy load and a known good mic,
there's an internal radio problem like an open choke
     on the TX line.
