Sr. Technical Consultant – Job Summary

newScale, Inc. is looking for high-caliber technical consultants who
will deliver product technical consulting services in the
implementation and integration of the newScale suite of products
within the customer's IT framework. Responsibilities include, among
others, developing technical requirements, designing and prototyping
customizations, installing software, testing, training, defining
support procedures and supporting deployment. The ideal candidate
will have deep software consulting experience in customer facing
development roles.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate to join the
Professional Services team in a rapidly growing pre-IPO company that
is a distinct leader in its market space. As a consultant, you will
be involved in the design and implementation of custom, technology-
enabled solutions for Service Demand and Delivery.

Key Role and Responsibilities
 Assist in scoping of projects and work with the Project
Manager and team members to manage on-time and on-budget delivery of
solutions.
 As a hands-on developer, implement and deploy software
solutions that meet the customer requirements.
 Specific development responsibilities include
o Install and deploy the newScale products and solution
components
o Develop solutions for LDAP and SSO integrations
o Customize form and GUI behaviour
o Integrate to external applications like Remedy, Tivoli
Identity Manager, and other enterprise applications
o Test and debug these solutions
o Perform systems administration activities such as
performance tuning, data management, advanced troubleshooting, etc.
 Use structured methodology, professional and technical
concepts to solve a wide range of difficult problems.
 Transfer knowledge of implemented software and processes to
customer in hands-on sessions, and by creating customer-facing
documentation
 Identify opportunities to modify processes or adapt
technologies to reach the desired outcome more efficiently with
improved results.
 Comprehend and explain complex technical issues and present
information in a concise manner to both technical and non-technical
personnel.
 Adhere to company established implementation methodologies,
best practices and quality standards.

Other Responsibilities
 Work with project managers to develop an implementation plan
and update them on status.
 Communicate proactively with other groups within newScale
regarding product and program information, supportability issues,
and strategic product plans where appropriate.
 Maintain effective working relationships with assigned
customers.
 Work with management to manage politically sensitive issues
impacting either the customer's business or newScale's relationship
with the customer.
 Work independently to define scope and implement solutions
for clients.
 Facilitate meetings with clients to identify user
requirements, resolve issues and define dynamic action plans.
 Mentor and coach other team members.

Key Qualifications:
The candidate will have:
• B.S or equivalent degree (C.S. / E.E. preferred) and
• More than 5 years of demonstrated experience in managing and
deploying applications within large IT operational infrastructures,
preferably as a consultant.
• Experience with full lifecycle development including source
control, iterative development, and rapid prototyping.

The candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of programming
concepts and technical competence in MOST of the following areas:
• HTML, XML, JavaScript, Java, Perl
• RDBMS experience with Oracle and SQL Server
• Application servers (WebSphere, WebLogic, JBoss)
• WINDOWS and UNIX operating systems
• Familiar with Web Server configuration (IIS, Apache, HTTP
Server)
• Experience with LDAP (Active Directory, Sune One)
This position requires approximately 50% travel.

Other skills
 Ability to work as part of a team, yet work independently on
complex problems.
 Leadership skills including experience with scope
management, work planning and work delegation.
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
