Hey, it's a balmy 8 degrees here with a 15 Mph
wind from the north, bringing it down to -15
windchill.

I'll forward your note to Mark Verplatze, a Project
Manager type here at Candle Minneapolis.

Good
luck. Having been through 2 layoffs, it isn't fun but
it usually turn out with a better job in the end.

Merry Christmas.
Hi everyone. This is Wade Bauer. I was one of the
unfortunate ones who was hit by the recent re-disorganization
in South Carolina NCR. I start looking on January 5.
My wife has made the suggestion about looking both
in South Carolina and back in Minnesota. If any of
you Yankees have any ideas where there might be a
good fit for a PMP Project Manager with lots of
networking and engineering skills please let me know... And,
everyone have a good holiday season. I hear rumors it's
cold up north...
Lee! I have no plans to go to Montana - the
weather is too nice down here in Columbia! Of course, if
Connie has her way, we would be on a plane
tomorrow!

Hope you have a great holiday season! Merry Christmas
- you can drop me a line at richandconnied@...
For those watching these messages for information
about the latest from St.Paul.... Rick Curylo, Henry
Snyder, Dave Stewart, Brad Tauer and Bruce Tilton are no
longer with the company. Also, December 15th will be the
last day, following the latest RIF, for Gene Faul,
Rose Johnson, Paul Larson, Orlyn Lundborg, and Joe
Udvig, and Howard Volk. Please join us in wishing them
all the best of luck, as they venture forth into the
great unknown.
For all that look to this site to keep up with
what is going on with former employees I want to let
you know, that today 11/10/00 is the last day of
employment for Richard (Dick) DeFilippis and Leroy Moyer.
Lee,
I could not agree with you more. We
woould all be a lot financially better off at this point
in our lifes, had it not been for "poor vision".
Instead of Cisco running the internet, it would have been
Comten. Everything was there, except "direction".
Hi everyone! Just found out that this site
exists. Great idea! Comten was the greatest company I
ever worked for, until NCR and AT&T messed it up with
their stupid ideas and mismanagement.

The best
day of my life was when I walked out the door for the
last time. I said then and say now that upper
management was over 80% bumbling idiots.

I still
firmly believe if NCR had not taken us over Novell would
never have made it. We would be what Novell and Cisco
are today. Just goes to show what a few intelectual
idiots can do to destroy a company.

Have a great
day!

Lee
Approximately three weeks ago Rod Pinch suffered
a heart attack and was hospitalized for eight days.
His doctor released him, but while waiting to be
formally released, Rod went into cardiac arrest and had to
be revived. Luckily, he was still at the hospital
when this occured! He is now recovering at home, and
has a pacemaker implanted to help prevent future
occurences. Our best wishes, thoughts and prayers go out to
Rod.
Pete DeWit has reported that things are going
well in his recovery from cancer surgery. He thanks
everyone for their prayers and messages. I would also
appreciate updated email addresses from those who may not be
on the current Comten email list. Thanks.

There is a big article on Roger Weingarth (former
manufacturing director)at Comten, in the Sunday Star Tribune.
The article talks about Optical Solutions and Roger's
role in their IPO as COO and his possible elevation to
CEO.
Congratulations to Rich and Mary and to Pat and
Dave on their nuptials!!!! We hosted a shower for Pat
and Dave along with Michele and Casey Durnil a few
weeks ago and quite a few current and ex Comten folks
were in attendance. Hope that everyone is enjoying the
summer (I thinks its summer anyway) and let us know of
any other weddings or significant
events.

Brian B.
1984-1999
Pat (formerly Pat Peckels) and Dave are getting married on Friday, June 9, 2000.
We wish them all the best in their years to come, and hope they live happily
ever after!!
The 1950 Building was sold and will close at the
end of May. The remaining Comten people (The old CSD
Repair and Refurbishment group) were RIFed, assimilated,
or are retiring.

A Closing Party will take
place Friday night 5/12/2000 (See the Club Calendar for
time and place).
I am sorry to announce that Wade Franklin passed away on Saturday, April 22,
2000. Wade was visiting his family in Texas at the time. He will be missed by
all of us.
Pete had a 4-hr. surgery on Tuesday 4/18. It
went
very well, according to the surgeon. It was a very
large tumor in the right frontal area. The surgeon
thinks he got it all.

Still waiting for the
detailed biopsy, but the surgeon's guess is that the tumor
was malignant, and an aggressive form of cancer, but
a Primary (i.e., not metastasized from cancer in
some other organ). Next treatment steps will depend on
the detailed biopsy report.

Pete has no
paralysis or weakness on his left side - a very good sign.
He ate a full meal and was already walking in his
room. His doctors are very pleased at the pace of his
recovery.

Pete's family (wife, kids, and brothers) are pretty
scared because Pete's Dad died at the age of 53 eighteen
years ago of what they think was the same form of
cancer. They are asking for our continued prayers.
Hello Casey,

Welcome to the club!
My
hope is that ex-comten friends can find this "club
house" useful and fun, that old friends can find each
other, and that new friendships may be
fostered.

Stay in touch,
Dave
Finally a home in cyberspace for those of us that
worked there and some that still do! Thanks for the
effort put in on this!

Please feel free to e-mail
