SUMMARY OF POSITION
Supervise the daily activities of the jobsite, ensuring that the work
is performed in a safe and organized manner, is in compliance with
the drawings and specifications, and is executed by the most
economical means.
Reports to the Project Manager/Construction Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Initiate project safety meetings for the on-site supervisors
and labor force.
2. Manage and coordinate the activities of subcontractors,
material vendors and direct labor forces via planning and scheduling.
3. Control the hiring and layoff of on-site labor through the
craft supervision.
4. Interface with the local union officials to resolve site-
specific labor disputes.
5. Maintain open communication and goodwill with the Owner's
representative, by coordinating pertinent work activities, attending
project progress/scheduling meetings, etc.
6. Maintain project schedule controls and report problems or
deficiencies to the Project Manager/Construction Manager.
7. Document on-site activities which may impede progress or
compliance to project/contract requirements.
8. Maintain strict control over the budget for each work
activity and assist on preparing monthly cost projections.
9. Identify, document and coordinate extra work.
10. Review and approve subcontractor and vendor invoices in
cooperation with the Project Manager.
11. Purchase miscellaneous materials and services necessary for
project execution.
12. Develop and submit data for progress billings.
13. Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the
provisions and requirements of all contract documents, including
plans, specifications, owner's contract, subcontracts and purchase
orders.
AUTHORITY
1. Exercise strict adherence to Company and Owner safety rules
and regulations. Properly train and monitor activity of jobsite
personnel with regard to safe practices.
2. Staff project with competent craft supervision, in
conjunction with project management and construction manager.
3. Authorize payment for materials/services covered under
purchase order/subcontract and materials under $1000 in value.
4. Negotiate prices related to contract scope changes with
subcontractors and material suppliers in cooperation with the Project
Manager.
5. Withhold payments to subcontractors and vendors when
justified.
