Description

The Board of Trustees of the Radnor Memorial Library is seeking a
dynamic Library Director with enthusiasm, vision and a dedication to
superior library service that will lead our library as it enters an
exciting stage of expansion and development. The Director is responsible
for the implementation of the strategic plan, budget preparation,
fundraising and program development.

The Director reports to the Board of Trustees and is responsible for
overseeing the daily operations of the library. This position requires
the ability to collaborate with local officials within Radnor Township,
the Friends group, the Delaware County Library System, as well as, the
Board, staff and local community organizations. Knowledge and experience
with the planning and oversight of building projects is desirable.

The new Director will possess excellent communication skills, innovative
thinking, and knowledge of emerging technologies. The Director must have
a Master's Degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA
accredited institution, with a minimum of 7 years of decision-making
experience in a public, academic or business library.

System, the Radnor Memorial Library serves a population of 30,000+

Digital and Visual Resources Librarian



The Rohrbach Library invites applications for a permanent full-time,
tenure-track, 9-month position, with faculty status as a Digital and
Visual Resources Librarian, beginning in Fall 2008.



Requirements:  ALA accredited MLS. Demonstrated understanding of current
trends and issues regarding digital collections and services.
Excellent knowledge of digital image databases, Microsoft Office,
Photoshop, flatbed and slide scanning. Knowledge of metadata schemas
and digital capture standards/methodologies. Cataloging and instruction
experience.  Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects.
Effective communication, presentation and organizational skills.  Three
years relevant experience required.

Desired:  Working experience using library digital technologies and/or
digital collection software and web authoring tools.  Excellent
knowledge of MDID.  Familiarity with intellectual and copyright issues.
Experiences with diverse populations.

Responsibilities include:  Identifies, selects, builds, and sustains
digital collections in a team environment.  Cultivates vendor
relationships, develops marketing services, and pursues grant writing.
Assists with cataloging, reference, instruction, and collection
development.  Flexible hours which will include evening and weekend
work.  Reports to the Coordinator of Technical Services.

*Availability:* Currently hiring for one position to begin April 11,

Reporting to the Director of the Information Commons, Information
Consultants handle patron questions, provide guidance on policies and
procedures of the Commons, manage room scheduling needs and assist
patrons in accessing academic support services.

Commons

Electronic Acquisitions Internship

*Availability:* one position starting April 1, 2008

*Hours:* 20 hours per week, within 9am-5pm Monday-Friday time period
for one year

*Broad Functions:*
This internship offers a self-motivated a student in library and
information studies experience in the Electronic Acquisitions
Department for the University of Pennsylvania Libraries. This
department is responsible for e-resource licensing, purchasing and
management along the entire resource lifecycle -- for all units of the
Libraries. This internship will focus primarily on special and/or
ongoing projects; generally to include projects associated with
licensing and e-resource management tool development.

*Specific Duties:*

     * Analyzing current and historical licenses
     * Preparing and populating databases/spreadsheets with metadata for
ERM ingestion
     * Other special projects or duties as assigned


This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone contemplating
a career in the technical services and/or e-resources sector of
librarianship to become familiar with the acquisition, maintenance and
licensing of e-resources in both principles and practice. Since the
lifecycle of electronic materials at Penn involves close cooperation
among many departments (cataloging, acquisitions, collection
development, research and instructional services, departmental
libraries, and IT), the position would also benefit those considering
other career paths within librarianship.

*Qualifications:* Must be a current student in an ALA accredited
library/information science program.
