John,
In case there is interest in Community of Practice, here is a link where there
is a continuous flow of very potent information regarding CoP. Jean Lave and
Etienne Wenger's various sources of info comes around regularly as well as many
others. By browsing through, there is a huge wealth of info that offers CoP
ways and tools to link with one another: http://www.stratagility.com/aggregator
From what I understand so far, CoPs come about as a result of a need to
communicate amongst already existing companies and/or operations. They are
always attached to a box of a specific context and interests, no matter what the
subject being discussed is about. They all seem to become limited in time by
silo restrictions instead of managing distance elimination.
Here at Minciu Sodas, we communicate for the sake of eliminating the distance
that keeps humanity from the clarity of sanity and from the transparency of love
in one another's life practice. we do so by holding each other accountable to
ourselves. As a result, the community is not limited by "a" practice but on the
contrary, we eliminate the barriers between all practices to go on growing
organically The Faculty of Living, where all sciences, faculties and knowledge
come to find a common ground of natural nutrients and fertilizers, dipped in a
constant irrigation of pure currents of thoughts and imspiration. Perhaps are
we blazing the trail for all communities of practice to find the connectivity
into the community of living...

Whilst researching learning networks today I was reminded of the idea
of Communities of Practice, which was introduced in the early 90s and seems very
relevant to what we are attempting to do through <cyfranogi> and the other
thinking laboratories associated with Minciu Sodas.
Jean Lave and Etienne Wenger who pioneered the concept talk about a CoP
generating a "shared repertoire" of resources and talk about a range of key
attributes that characterise such a community. I think this is what we are
trying to do by building up a bank of stories together - to create a common
narrative about exchange and communities which can create a CoP for Community
Currencies.
