Re: [daltonlathes] Dalton 6 Series B-4

Hello,

Thank you for your message.

If it's in good original condition it may well reach those prices.

If you can send me some photographs of the machine and its accessories I will be pleased to tell you what it might fetch (the likely selling price will vary widely depending upon specification, condition and the accessories included) and, if you wish, write a suitably-worded advertisement for it that gives a correct technical description, emphasises its good points and identifies all the items with it correctly.

Good photographs really do help to sell a machine tool - so before taking them it's worth setting the camera at its highest resolution. Clear away any clutter on or around the machine and then (if necessary) clean it down and polish off any discoloured or rusty bits - they can look terrible in colour pictures.

To get the very best price - and the widest, most interested audience - you might like to take advantage of the popularity of my Web site, the world's largest devoted to lathes and milling machines, with 8,000 to 10,000 people per day logging on, and advertise it there. Around 60% of the readership is in North America - and lathes advertised from there have always sold.
http://www.lathes.co.uk/page3.html
As you will see, there are many special as well as ordinary lathes advertised and I know that many collectors follow the page closely for new arrivals.

Type "lathes for sale" or "millers for sale" into Google and the page always appears in the No. 1 spot at the top of the first page.
Each machine is linked to a separate photographic web site with a header designed to allow search engines to find it. The photographs are large and clear and the only machine to appear on that page is yours. Not only will the machine be located through the lathes.co.uk site but also from its own separate and unique location. A sample of this type of second entry is here: http://www.lathes.co.uk/advertphoto/sampleadvertisement

The cost is modest: £35 (GBP35 = 35 British pounds) for each significant machine tool (though simple items like drills, etc., can be grouped together in one advertisement), up to 150 words, 6 linked pictures and a duration of 6 months. A link can is also included to the relevant page on my web site to give potential buyers the chance to read a detailed technical description of the machine.

I take no commission, only offer advice, write the advertisement (if you wish), optimise the pictures and post the material on the various pages in the web site.

Do please phone if you would like to discuss: 001-441298-871633 from 09:00 to 23:00 GMT

Payment can be by credit, debit, switch or American Express card, PayPal, cheque or postal order.

My best wishes,

Tony.

Subject: [daltonlathes] Dalton 6 Series B-4

My husband has am antique Dalton Lathe for sale. It has been exceptionally well maintained and my husband still uses it. We had it looked at and were told that it is in such great condition, that it would be reasonable to ask between $1,200 and $2,000. Does this sound reasonable? Where should I advertise it? Anywhere we can post pictures?
Thanks for your help!
