Yahoo and DMOZ, while tremendously useful (they build flow almost as well as
search engines) have been built around centralized editorial systems.

We've conceived a directory system that is not centralized and can grow as
the Web itself grew. There is no single home page to the Web, why should
there be a centralized home for the directory structures of the Web?

What's been missing so far are tools and an "inclusion" architecture.

We now have both, working well.

The "linkrot" is a big problem in general not just for the decentralized directories. Since no one can discipline web host owners to keep the old links alive...

This is just one of the limits of the Web. As I said on the About page, before TBL came along all the hypertext designers were locked up over how to keep...
