This group details efforts to preserve the second oldest railroad station in the United States. Duffields Station (or Depot) is located in Jefferson County, WV along the B&O (now CSX)Railroad . Duffields Station was built in 1839 and was opened to transport both freight and passengers eastward and westward in 1842. At the time, Duffields was one of 5 stops on the line between Harpers Ferry, VA (now WV) and Martinsburg, VA (now WV). Duffields was used by the B&O Railroad until 1884 when the B&O built a new brick station just West of the original station. Duffields Station played a significant roll during the Civil War.
