Description

The EDrive PHEV group is a place for
all discussions related to plug-in hybrid
vehicle technologies in general and EDrive
PHEV products such as for the Toyota Prius
and Ford Escape in particular.

The EDrive retrofit for the Toyota Prius
(coming soon to Southern California and
eventually nationwide) allows the Prius
to get over 100 miles per gallon by
replacing half of the gasoline normally
used with electricity. The EDrive retrofit
replaces the normal hybrid battery with a
larger advanced lithium-ion system. When
the built in charger is plugged into a
standard home outlet at night, a full
charge can take up to 8 hours and use
about a dollars worth of electricity.

With a full charge, an EDrive equipped
Prius can get over 100 miles per gallon
for up to the first 50 miles of the day.
After approximately 50 miles, the car
will gradually revert back to normal
Prius operation (ie 50mpg). 100+ MPG
is acheived by driving in all-electric
mode at low speeds (below 34mph) and
at low power levels at higher speeds.
Even when the gasoline engine is running,
the EDrive equipped Prius can inject
substantial electricity into the hybrids
electric motor further reducing loads
on the gasoline engine.

Before posting questions to this discussion
group, please check to see that your question
is not already covered in the F.A.Q. on the
edrivesystems web site.
