was surfing the web today and found out that eTrex has a hidden
screen that Garmin uses to diagnose problems on an eTrex, TO do this
hold in the page and up button when you turn the gps on, it will
display a hidden page with temperature of the eTrex, this is only
accurate when first turned on you cant just turn it off and then do
it again, because when you first turn it on it is the temperature of
its surroundings DO NOT HOLD ANY OTHER BUTTONS IN WHILE STARTING THE
UNIT, IT WILL RESTORE FACTORY CONDITIONS OR IT WILL HAVE TO DO THE
AUTO LOCATE AND COLD START,
I also ran across tips people had for receiving better reception from
the satellite, one guy said that he was in a plane and got poor
reception when his eTrex wasnt close to the window, he claims he put
alluminum foil over the internal antenna and it helped, lol, i havent
tried it but i doubt it will work, does anyone know of anything that
will improve reception of satellite sigs.?
