The Auto mode is usually more efficient. It records less often on
straight parts of your track and more often in curved or meandering
portions.

than I had hoped. I have made up a serial lead and installed MyGPS
which works well . By downloading the track memory and saving the
track log as a .txt file and then opening with notepad I can get an
idea of the sampling frequency. I will carry out a few evening walks
after work this week and investigate the settings. Maybe a good start
would be to use the "Distance" rather than "Auto mode" and set to
record at 10m intervals, that should cope with 100 km which is enough
range for the Sottish winter walk. I can understand the "Distance"
and "Time " modes but am unclear about the "Auto" so will avoid it.
