Business Computing Tips

This is the second section on the Word 'View' coomands. The first can
be read at http://www.users.bigpond.com/sagatech/view.html.
The next item in the VIEW list of commands is Ruler. Rulers allow you
to change your margins and tabs easily by clicking, holding and
dragging the markers. The pale thin line at the edges of the rules
are the margins, the little triangle on the right and the small
square on the left are the indents or tabs.
The triangles on the left are the first line indent (or how far do
you want the first line of every paragraph to go in before the typing
starts) and below that, the hanging indent, (do you want that whole
paragraph to be set in from the margin).
The main trick for dealing with indents is to remember to highlight
all the area you wish to effect before changing the indents, or it
will only change that one paragraph. Remember, to select the whole
document, type Ctrl A or clicking EDIT=> SELECT ALL.
Next is Document Map. Clicking on this brings up a side panel where
all the headings of your document are listed. You can then click on
the headings in this sidebar to go straight to that part of the
document. It is like having automatic bookmarks.
The next Ktips will cover the rest of VIEW commands such as Headers
and Footers and Zoom.
