Business Computing Tips

I was asking a friend what to write for my marketing/computer
newsletter this week and
he said, 'What is marketing?'
Good question really, not a lot of people really know.
You ask most people and they tend to just think about advertising but
there is so much more. Marketing is all about making the most of your
business by considering the four P's; product, place, price and promotion.
With the advent of the internet, almost every one of the 4p's becomes
advertising anyway. The lines have really blurred. We will cover each
one in more detail in later newsletters, but for now, lets give an
example.
Think of a website. If it has an easy name to type in, and good
placement on the search engines, then more people visit it (place).
If the product has links back to other products, then you can sell
more of your products to the same person (product).
If the price is right, especially if it offers free bonuses or
samples, then more people will pass it on to their friends, (price).
And all this is promotion without one bit of what people normally
think of as advertising.

Please feel free to pass it on to your friends, just let them know I
wrote it.
