On the internet, instant messaging allows you to chat with your
friends and family anywhere in the world, real time. That means at the
same time with no delays. If you have a video camera and a mic, you
can even see them and hear them. The best bit of it all is that it is
free once you are online.

So which instant messenger is the best? Good question.

Just about all of them are free, and most offer the same thing. So,
personally, I use Trillian http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/.

The reason - it let's you use all the other ones at the same time and
take half the space on your system.

That way, no matter which one your friends signed up for, you can
still chat with them. It doesn't have all the wonderful features, but
it does let you message, which is the whole point really.
