Business Computing Tips

By Karen Fainges

How do you get free advertising for your business? By solving
problems. Think of a problem that a large section of your market may
have. Then work out a way your business can solve it. If you set out
the problem and answer in a press release, you may find yourself
blinking in the glare of TV lights sooner than you think.

Local TV, local radio, local papers, they are all looking for
stories. If you can solve a problem for their listeners, they will
love to hear from you and your product. Make sure you give them a
number of ways to contact you for more information. Include on all
your releases e-mail, phone, fax and mobile as well as your street
and postal address.

There are many companies that will dress the information up for you,
and get it to the right ears, but all you really need to do is phone
where you are sending the information and request the best name and
department to attention it. Ask them how will get it there the
easiest way, e-mail, phone, fax or mail it in. Many PR units even
have a template that lets you know how to lay your information out.
The most important thing is to not sell your product, sell your
solution.
