IS E.COM A BOMB?
Business Computing Tips
By Karen Fainges
There was a lot of press in the past telling
us that E-Commerce was dying. Now there is
just as much telling us it is the only way to
go. How can they both be right? Easy, it's
all in how you do it.
It is easy to throw money at the Internet.
There are any number of supporters out there
willing to help you succeed and all too
willing to charge. That is where businesses
go wrong. They pay someone to put their
product on the web and think 'that's it, I'm
a .com.'
Wrong. The Internet works best as a DYI
project. And it is ongoing. You can put any
product up on the web for as little as your
normal internet access. Then market it from
there. Visit newsgroups, send out press
releases all the things I have mentioned in
my previous articles.
Only put more money in once you are sure you
have it right. Get people to review your page
for you. Try asking others to market your
product for a percentage (associates). This
is the rage on the web because it works. And
it doesn't cost you a thing except time. This
is the golden rule for the web. Don't spend
money where you wouldn't spend time.
