Business/Computing Tips
By Karen Fainges
One of the mantras of the business world is fail to plan and you plan
to fail. It holds true no matter what your business. Every business
needs to know what they need to do to succeed But first you have to
define success. If you read the mission statements of big business,
they often have goals like 10% growth per annum for 3 years. In small
business, growth is good, but happiness is better.
Your business is where you will spend a lot of your time. It needs to
be something you will enjoy. It needs to cover the money that you
feel you need and it needs to give you some time off to have a life.
The balance between those two is up to you. Some people buy second
hand and spend most of their time with their families. Others want
limousines and don't have a family life. Both are valid lifestyles
for them. Don't be pressured by others to conform to what they think
is right.
If you are finding it hard to know where the balance should be, make
a list of all the things you can not possibly lose. Then make a list
of all the things you want. Compare the two. If something appears on
both lists, that is a must have. Everything else is nice but not
necessary. Then work out your business to cover the must haves and at
least some of the nice list. Life has to have some extras.
