Business Computing Tips

There are extras you can add to spice up your web pages. And most of
them can be gained free of charge or in exchange for a little
advertising.
Forms - these gather information from viewers of your page. Here you
can gather names, addresses, phone & e-mail as well as orders, and
opinions. Most forms also allow you to find out which kind of browser
they used & who their host is.
Hit counters - these register how often anyone accesses your page. If
you ever plan to sell advertising on your page, you will need these
figures.
Guest Books - an automatic way to gather testimonials, let people
have their say about your site.
Chat rooms - here you can talk in real time (you type & they read it
straight away, or with a microphone &/or video camera, you can
actually talk). An excellent way to show clients you are accessible,
that you know what you are talking about and to work up a
relationship with you. They are much more likely to support you if
they have "spoken" to you direct.
Many ISP's have these features available for you automatically when
you sign up. It is just a matter of pasting in the code (html code is
the way your page tells the other person's computer what you want
them to see.) Somewhere on your ISP's site will be an 'add on'
section. They will provide code there, you just COPY it and then
PASTE it into your own code. If you are using Word or Front Page, you
can VIEW SOURCE in order to see the code. The other way is to VIEW
SOURCE in your browser, which will bring up the code. Then you can
PASTE it in & upload the new page in the normal way.
The other way to gain these features is to type free chat room into a
search engine & look through until you find the one you want. There
are dozens out there.
