Business Computing Tips
By Karen Fainges
So many things on the internet are free, so should you offer
something free too? The answer will change depending on who you ask,
but I would say a definite yes. People love the word free, and it
gives you the chance to get your foot in the door.
So what sorts of things can you give free? Well the best for both you
and your clients is often the humble newsletter. If you send it out
as an ezine, it will cost you nothing but time, and it is the perfect
platform for you to offer your products as the solutions to problems.
Take a free monthly newsletter that offers solutions to problems with
business and computers. Write down problems that your customers have
told you about and offer a solution. Then show them how your solution
is the best around for the price/ease of application or tax benefits.
If you put enough content into the newsletter that you think you
really should charge for it, you have missed the point. These
freebies are meant to be lures, not products in their own right. If
you really can't stop yourself from writing too much, offer the first
three chapters as a freebie and then charge for the rest. That way
people can try before they buy. On the Internet, that is a very
important consideration when the client has no idea if you even
really exist.
