Business Computing Tips

The web has just about everything you would ever want to find, but it
is huge. How do you find anything?
I recommend trying any search in a range of search engines to start
with. You would be amazed the different pages you can get.
Altavista http://au.altavista.com/,very good for finding images,
music etc. or just general info. http://au.altavista.com/babelfish
allows you to translate foreign sites as well.
Yahoo http://au.yahoo.com/ , still one of the places everyone goes.
Country specific searches can be valuable, but don't always work. Try
looking in Australia only first, then expand from there.
Google http://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=navclient, is becoming
the search engine for everyone. Very useful for searching newsgroups
without actually being on them. Just click on the group tag.
Ask Jeeves http://www.ask.com/ as the name implies, ask a question
and you shall receive. Often good for what is a 'babel fish' type
questions.
These sites should cover just about everything out there except
highly technical areas. For those I recommend seeking out industry
specific sites. These can normally be found in trade magazines, or on
big company sites.
Next hint is to mix the words up, property investment Australia,
gives a different answer to Australia, investment property. And be
specific, if you want Brisbane, put that into the search. You can
always take it out again if you don't find what you want. that is the
most important thing, start out as specific as you can and then
narrow it down.
