For many young people, prom is the crowning event of their

Among the most popular, tried, and true methods of
preserving flowers is pressing them. This is an easy and
effective method if you wish to place the flowers in a frame
or scrapbook. To press flowers, you'll need:

  * Two pieces of corrugated cardboard.
  * Several sheets of newspaper or white paper towels.
  * A flat board.
  * A heavy weight (bricks work nicely).

Once you've gathered the necessary materials, follow these
easy steps:

1. Place one sheet of cardboard on your work surface.
2. Lay several sheets of newspaper on top of the cardboard.
3. Arrange the flowers on top of the newspaper.
4. Place several more sheets of newspaper over the flowers.
5. Set the cardboard on top of the newspaper.
6. Place the board on top of the newspaper.
7. Put the weight on top of the board.

Place the flower press in a warm dry room and allow two to
three weeks. Check the flowers every two to three days and
change the papers to prevent molding and help the flowers to
dry more quickly.

Pressing works very well if you wish to yield
one-dimensional flowers in the end. However, if you'd like
your flowers to retain their shape, you'll need to try
another method, such as simple air-drying. To air dry your
flowers:

1. Secure the corsage to a hanger or hook so that it can
    hang loosely upside down.
2. Hang the flowers in a warm, dark, dry room.
3. Allow one to three weeks for complete drying.

These two methods are the most commonly used at-home methods
for preserving flowers, but there are several more. Other
methods include chemical drying, preserving with glycerin,
sand drying, and preserving with shellac. Some methods are
certainly more difficult and costly than others, so you
should do your research before embarking on this task. Ask
your florist if he or she has any other ideas, tips, or
services for flower preservation. With a little time and
effort, you can keep prom memories fresh forever.

Accepting credit cards is becoming a must for entrepreneurs and
small businesses in today's business environment. There are
numerous social, demographic and technological factors combining

to make plastic the payment form of choice for increasing numbers

of people.

By the Numbers

The average American cardholder has roughly four bank credit
cards. Credit card purchase volume has been expanding about 15
percent per year for the last five years, or three times faster
than the increase in overall U.S. purchases. Debit card purchases

are growing even faster, at more than 50 percent per year. Credit

and debit cards are expected to account for 33 percent of all
purchases by next year and for 43 percent by 2005. According to
one estimate, businesses forfeit up to 80 percent of consumer
impulse buys if they don't accept credit cards.

Why People Use Credit Cards

To understand the growth in credit card use, it's important to
grasp the reasons for their popularity. Consumers typically use
cards because:

  * They don't want to carry cash
  * They want to save cash in hand
  * They want to gain loyalty points (such as airline miles)
  * They are making a large purchase
  * They are looking to float money in a bank account
  * They are making a reimbursable purchase for a company

Plastic on the Internet

Even as credit card use grows in the real world, plastic already

dominates the world of Web shopping. This breakdown of how people

pay for online purchases demonstrates that credit cards are the
key to e-commerce:

  * Credit card online - 85%
  * Check mailed - 10%
  * Credit card via phone - 2%
  * Credit card via mail - 1%

The Business-to-Business Opportunity

It's becoming increasingly clear that credit cards are also
playing a greater and greater role in business-to-business
transactions. For example, visa is bundling credit and cash
management products for small businesses under the umbrella of
the Visa Business Card.

Larger companies are also streamlining their buying processes
using so-called business cards for indirect purchasing. Each
business card transaction shaves a reported $50 to $100 in
purchasing costs. That's something to keep in mind if your
company works with large companies.

The Future of Plastic

Market research indicates that consumers view credit cards as
lifestyle enhancers that contribute to other areas of interest in

their lives. And credit card products now in development, such as

the "electronic purse" and online debit cards, promise to
further
extend the use of credit cards.

It all adds up to bad news for checks. Paying with plastic is
becoming increasingly popular for even routine bills such as gas

and electricity. And younger customers' preference for plastic
cards is even more pronounced. These trends are projected to
cause check and paper credit use to fall from 32 percent of all
non-cash transactions in 1997 to just 14 percent by 2007.

Flowers To Fit Pamela Anderson's Personality

Article Description:
====================

If Pamela Anderson were to buy flowers for herself, what kind of
arrangement would she choose? Would she pick bold, bright colors
arranged in a linear design? Or, would she choose soft pastels in
a loose bouquet? Regardless of the kinds of flowers and designs
she chose, the resulting arrangement would say a lot about her
personality. That's because people with certain personality
traits are generally drawn to certain styles of flowers.

If Pamela Anderson were to buy flowers for herself, what kind of

arrangement would she choose? Would she pick bold, bright colors

arranged in a linear design? Or, would she choose soft pastels in

a loose bouquet? Regardless of the kinds of flowers and designs
she chose, the resulting arrangement would say a lot about her
personality. That's because people with certain personality
traits are generally drawn to certain styles of flowers.

One of the best things about flowers is that they can become very

personalized gifts if you just take into consideration the
personality of the individual who will receive them. Everyone
enjoys getting gifts, but the truth is that some gifts mean so
much more than others. The gifts we remember the most are the
ones that really "wow" us with their thoughtfulness and
reflection of how well the giver knows us. That doesn't seem to

be any mystery to any of us. In fact, a recent survey
commissioned by the Society of American Florists indicates that
when most Americans buy gifts, they place a high priority on
picking gifts that are specific to the personality of the
recipient.

When choosing a gift of flowers, think about what the person who

will receive them is like. Consider his or her favorite colors,
flowers, and hobbies. Think, too, about what you want the flowers

to say. Discuss this information with your florist who will help

you choose just the right flowers to match the recipient's
"floral signature."

A floral signature is, simply, the types of floral arrangements a

person might choose for him or herself. The signature takes into

consideration color, style, flower choices, and accents. Floral
signatures include:

* Natural: People with a casual lifestyle who like the outdoors
and tend to be more earthy fall under this signature. They are
often drawn to flowering or green plants, but also enjoy meadow
flowers or arrangements using woodsy accents, like twigs or
leaves.

* Romantic: The romantic signature is best suited to spontaneous

people with a generous nature who are prone to extravagance.
Floral arrangements for this signature use soft colors with a bit

of fragrance. Accents include lace and ribbons.

* Expressive: People with an expressive floral signature spend
time looking to better themselves and tend to like unconventional

things. Flowers used here are exotic and have unusual coloring.
They are arranged in unique shapes with an artistic feel.

* Traditional: Those with a traditional floral signature are
trustworthy and hold their families in high regard. They like
things with a classical style. They like flower arrangements that

use many different kinds of flowers and are very lush.

* Contemporary: The contemporary floral signature is perfect for

people who like to set the pace. They are often responsible for
starting new trends and like to live in the now. Contemporary
flower arrangements often use just one color or use large
brightly colored blooms.

If you have difficulty deciding which of these floral signatures

suits someone in your life, ask your florist for help. He or she

will be able to ask you some specific questions that will help
you to make that determination.

Q. Sometimes I feel like life at home is like being on a
treadmill. Any ideas for breaking that cycle?

A. While "home is where the heart is," it is mom who is the
"heart of the matter." Although the major part of your mom job is
care of the children, it is care of you that is at the root of it
all.

Mom Time

All work and no play make mom a dull girl. As you start off the
New Year, the key is to strive for balance. As you plan your day,
week, month, and year, be sure to inlude outings that you like
for yourself like coffee with a friend, workouts of different
types, hobby events, or a stroll in the park. Movies, theater,
museums and unique restaurants are also great places to go. In
addition, home endeavors are important. Make as much time as you
can to put your feet up with a magazine, read a book in a
favorite spot, watch a new and exciting DVD, work on your hobby,
or create with a craft. A fun-filled mom is at the "heart" of a
happy child.

Hands-on Interactive Play

In addition to planning time for the "new you," there are things
you can do to help life at home run more smoothly. One suggestion
is to provide your child with as many hands-on interactive play
activities as possible. Clay, play dough, building sets, bubbles,
simple dolls, pegs and pegboards, and the like all provide
opportunities for your child to experience hands-on interactive
play. Because of the free-form materials these all provide
open-ended experiences. They allow you to participate,
facilitate, or just observe. The least formed the toy, the most
value it has, and conversely, the most formed the toy, the least
value it has. This is because little form leaves the most room
for creativity. As the old saying goes, "The more you put into
it, the more you get out of it."

"Play is a Child's Work, and Toys are the Tools."

First the child wants to play. Then the child or makes whatever
toys he/she needs for playing. Finding or making the toys is part
of the process.

  * A child wants to play house... out comes the plastic dishes,
cutlery, cups, and napkins.
  * A child wants to play store... out comes the empty food boxes,
a play cash register, and play money.
  * A child wants to play doctor... out comes Dad's big white
shirt, cotton balls, and band aids.

Making Your Own Toys

Sometimes making the toys starts off the play process. Girls can
spend hours making doll clothes out of material scraps and doll
houses out of small cartons. They make carnations out of tissues.
Boys make their own toy cars out of boxes and wheels and all
kinds of intricate structures out of toothpicks, dowels, and
other household extras. Many children have hours of fun creating
with Popsicle® sticks. Even though we are so used to buying toys
to start play for our children, this is often a way of putting
the cart before the horse.

Lead Paint and Other Poisons

Worried about lead paint or other chemicals in your child's
toys? Easily accessible materials from around the house can help.
Check out your recycle bin for safe plastic containers. Get index
cards in all sizes and pastel colors. Collect markers, crayons,
child-sized scissors, and chalk. Use these and other supplies
like ribbon and yarn to make your own toys with and for your
child.

Play

Here are some guidelines that will help you and your child enjoy
the rewards of playtime balance:

  * Play has no rules. It grows from the ideas and imagination of
the players.
  * Play is like a dance to be enjoyed. It is not like a race to
be won.
  * Play is best with toys that have these four characteristics:
  * Interesting to see
  * Fun to touch
  * Designed for interaction
  * Have surprise!

Happy New Year to you and your family! The better you take care
of yourself, the better you will be able to care for your child.
Meaningful mom-time plus purposeful child-time is the formula for
a smooth-running family. As your child becomes more creative,
self-directed, and independent the end result will keep you
fun-filled.

Anna Kournikova may be able to serve up a tennis ball, but can
she throw a party that keeps people talking and waiting for the
next one? Well, maybe, especially if she's adding special
touches
to her parties using flowers.

Flowers are a simple and inexpensive way to make your parties
beautiful, exciting, and the talk of your neighborhood. Of course

there are the traditional ways to use flowers, like arrangements

in vases and baskets or floral centerpieces, but there are also
endless possibilities for other uses. Your florist can help you
create any of the following floral party decorations:

* Punch up your punch: An ice ring is always lovely in a punch
bowl, but imagine how much better it will be if there are
brightly colored blooms frozen into it. Make certain you use
washed, edible flowers; your florist can help you choose them.

* Make your napkin rings into party favors: You can either ask
your florist to make napkin rings from flowers, or you can buy a

few extra flowers to match your center pieces and tuck them into

folded napkins or napkin rings. You'll want to make certain you

keep the flowers in some water until just before your guests
arrive. You should also consult your florist to determine which
blooms will work the best.

* Make candles even brighter: Set your votive holders on a bed of

petals. If you're using candlesticks, tie ribbons around them
and
tuck in a few blooms. Or, place large blooms in bowls with
floating candles.

* Pretty place cards: Your place cards can double as party
favors. Place a small vase at each setting with a single bloom in

it. Attach the place card to the vase using a ribbon, glue it
directly to the vase, or tuck the card into the blossom.

To make certain your flower decorations are as fresh and
beautiful as possible, ask to have them delivered the day of the

party. If they must be delivered the day before, store them in a

cool place-but not one that will reach below 35 degrees. Avoid
drafts and direct sunlight. Make sure your flowers are not stored

near fruit. Fruit emits ethylene gas, which can make your flowers

wilt. Mist the flowers before storing them and cover them lightly

with a thin piece of plastic. A bag from your dry cleaner will
work perfectly for this purpose.

Your florist can be a real asset in planning your party. Make
sure you talk to him or her about what the occasion is and the
atmosphere you're going for. Your florist is certain to be full

of excellent ideas like the ones above, and may even have a few
more.

Detoxification is a fancy word for cleaning your blood. There are
many programs available to help, but your body actually has its
own way dealing with toxins. There are two major systems involved
with detoxification: anti-oxidation, and the detoxification
process in the liver.

Oxidation is best illustrated by looking at rust, which is a
reaction of metal to oxygen. When free radicals come in contact
with the body, oxidation can occur. Oxidation causes all kinds of
problems, such as allergies and certain types of sickness. The
body has a natural anti-oxidation system which includes vitamins
such as C, E, B2, bioflavonoid, beta-carotene and other
substances to prevent oxidation. Oxidation occurs at the cellular
level, so detox must occur there as well. Any deficiency of these
in the diet causes problems removing toxins.

What a good full body detox does is also remove impurities from
the blood through the liver. The liver is an important organ, and
is where toxins are processed. The body also uses other organs
such as kidneys, intestines, lungs, lymph nodes and skin to
remove toxins. Most toxins are not water-soluble. When toxins
enter the liver, two groups of enzymes break down the toxins into
water-soluble substances to be excreted via the kidneys and other
organs. When this system is not functioning properly, toxins can
go unfiltered and your whole body suffers.

There are several ways a body detox program boosts your body's
clearing of toxins. Fasting for a short period of time is usually
part of any full body detox. When you fast, your organs rest.
This gives them time to rejuvenate themselves and assist with the
cleansing. In addition to fasting, a good detox program will
stimulate the liver to eliminate common toxins from your body the
way it should have been doing all along. This also extends to
elimination through the skin, kidneys and intestines.

Circulation is always a big part of any natural body detox.
Boosting circulation of the blood through exercise, deep
breathing, and other means helps toxins be carried quickly out of
the bloodstream. The simple act of breathing deeply brings more
oxygen to your blood, thereby allowing for faster elimination of
toxins. Even though oxygen contributes to oxidation, lack of
oxygen can also cause serious problems. Blood flow helps push
more blood through the liver, allowing more toxin removal.

Diet is another major component of a body detox program. It is
important to get rid of any toxins in the diet. It is usually
necessary to cut out all sugar, caffeine, nicotine and other
harmful chemicals from your body. This is one of the most
important components, and it is helpful to continue giving your
body nutrients even after your program is complete.

Abstaining from using certain chemicals also aids in toxin
removal. Free radicals come from many household products.
Perfumes, shampoos, household cleaners, sunscreens, and much more
all contain toxins that get stuck in your body if there is no way
to eliminate it. This is why abstinence and diet are two
important ways to keep your body cleansed.

The word "stun" has a mysterious ring to it. It is synonymous
with words like "overwhelm," "stupefy," and "daze." What
do these words really mean? In other words, what would happen to
your victim if you touch him with your stun gun? What would
happen to you if you stunned yourself? Could someone be
permanently injured, or worse, die? To sum it up: What are the
effects of a stun gun shock? These are all important questions -
questions with solid answers.

What Is A Stun Gun?

As stun gun is a small hand held weapon that must be touched to
the attacker's body in order to be effective - you don't
"shoot" anyone." Immediately upon making contact, the stun
gun delivers a high-voltage (generally 85,000 volts to 625,000
volts), low-amperage electrical charge. The electricity emitted
travels through clothing and penetrates the skin. This means
that you don't need to be all that coordinated to be able to use
a stun gun - the effects of a stun gun will be the same whether
you touch a heavy sweatshirt, a muscular leg, the back of the
hand, or anywhere else on your attacker.

And what about those results? You can expect the attacker to
immediately lose control of his nervous system and his muscular
system, causing him to hit the ground hard. Your attacker will
not be able to sort out the thoughts racing wildly through his
mind, reeling in confusion and the inability to control his
movement. As excruciating as the attacker's situation might
be, he is temporarily disabled, not dying. Your attacker will be
in this condition from five to fifteen minutes depending on how
long you held the stun gun in place.

How Long Will The Shock Last?

According to the experts, a shock of less than a second will stop
an attacker in his tracks. Three seconds will keep an attacker
immobilized for up to twenty minutes or more. This gives you an
opportunity to run or fight back, seeking law enforcement as
quickly as possible.

What If You Stun Yourself?

Because of the deliberate nature of putting your hands on the
stun gun and pressing in very specific places to get the shock
going, it is highly unlikely that you will ever stun yourself.
And you can't get shocked by touching an individual who has been
shocked - the charge will not transfer to you. But if you do
happen to shock yourself, you may be able to focus on only one
thought. That thought should be, "This is temporary." Since
the length of temporary disability is directly related to how
long you receive the shock, odds are in your favor that your
immobility will last only seconds. This is because you will
immediately drop the stun gun at the first recognition of being
zapped. The effects of a stun gun can range from a "quick but
effective scare" to a full on "drop them to the ground"
shock.

The Sleep Cycle

When we deprive ourselves of sleep, there is a delicate cycle
that we disrupt. Let us now share with you that cycle:

Phase one begins as soon as the sun sets, when the pineal gland
starts to release melatonin, a hormone released in the absence of
light and responsible for making us sleepy. When you lay down in
your bed at this time, your muscles relax, heart rate and
breathing slow down, and body temperature drops. The brain also
relaxes but still remains alert. If you could look at the wave
patterns being generated by the brain, you would see a change
from the rapid beta waves of daytime to slower alpha waves. When
the alpha waves disappear, replaced by theta waves, the sleeper
has tumbled into the sensory void called stage one sleep. In this
stage, the sleeper is unable to sense anything.

Phase Two: Phase two occurs a moment after phase one and in this
stage the sleeper lays still for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Phase Three: After Phase two is over, the sleeper falls into a
deeper sleep. During this stage, the sleeper falls deeper into
phase three which lasts about 5 to 15 minutes.

Phase Four: With a maximum of 15 minutes spent within the phase
three cycle, the sleeper then falls into yet another relaxed
stage called phase four, lasting a half hour or so. In stage
four, the eyes move back and forth very quickly in what's called
rapid eye movement, or REM. This is the point at which the first
dream occurs. After this dream has ended, the sleeper then goes
right back to phase two and starts the whole process over again.
These processes repeat themselves about five times during the
night.

Sleep research indicates through studies that the average sleeper
will sleep approximately 8 hours and fifteen minutes when
uninterrupted. During this research, there were no alarm clocks
or disturbing noises to interrupt normal sleep patterns. 8 hours
and fifteen minutes is believed to be the ideal physiological
amount of time that the body requires for proper sleep time.

Maladies Caused By Sleep Deprivation

The following are the maladies that according to research can be
the result of consistent sleep deprivation: Impaired glucose
tolerance: Without sleep, the central nervous system becomes more
active, something that inhibits the pancreas from producing
adequate insulin, the hormone the body needs to digest glucose.
"In healthy young men with no risk factor, in one week, we had
them in a pre-diabetic state," says researcher Van Cauter when
referring to a study that he conducted on the effects of sleep
depravation.

Possible link to obesity: This is due to the fact that much of
people's growth hormone is secreted during the first round of
deep sleep. As both men and women age, they naturally spend less
time in deep sleep, which reduces growth hormone secretion. Lack
of sleep at a younger age, however, could drive down growth
hormone prematurely, accelerating as a result the fat-gaining
process. In addition, there is also research that indicates a
lowering of the hormone testosterone as well, something that
would also make the gaining of fat and the loss of muscle and
easy thing for the body to do.

Increased carbohydrate cravings: This is due to the fact that
sleep depravation negatively affects the production of a hormone
called Leptin. This hormone is responsible for telling the body
when it is full. However, with decreased production of this
hormone, your body will crave calories (especially in the forms
of carbs) even though its requirements have been met. Not a good
situation to be in for a dieter.

Weakened immune system: Research indicates that sleep deprivation
affects adversely the white blood cell count in humans as well as
the body's ability to fight infections.

Increased risk of getting breast cancer: Richard Stevens, a
cancer researcher at the University of Connecticut Health Center,
has speculated that there might be a connection between the
epidemic of breast cancer and hormone cycles disrupted by
late-night light. Melatonin, primarily secreted at night, may
trigger a reduction in the body's production of estrogen. But
light interferes with melatonin release (recall that the hormone
is secreted in response to a lack of light), allowing estrogen
levels to rise. Too much estrogen is known to promote the growth
of breast cancers.

Decreased alertness and ability to focus: A recent study showed
that people who were awake for up to 19 hours scored worse on
performance tests and alertness scales than those with a
blood-alcohol level of .08 percent-legally drunk in some states.

Hardening of the arteries: Some studies suggest that the stress
imposed on the body due to lack of sleep causes such a very sharp
rise in cortisol levels. Such an imbalance can lead to hardening
of the arteries, something that can cause a heart attack. In
addition, we also know that very high cortisol levels lead to
muscle loss, increased fat storage, loss of bone mass, cause
depression, cause hypertension, cause insulin resistance (the
cells in the body lose the ability to accept insulin), and lower
growth hormone and testosterone production.

Depression and irritability: Lack of sleep also causes depletion
of neurotransmitters in the brain that are in charge of
regulating mood. Because of this, sleep deprived people have a
"shorter fuse" and also tend to get depressed more easily.

Conclusion

So there you have it boys and girls, you need 7 - 9 hours of
sleep (8 being the ideal) each night in order for your body to
run efficiently. Deprive your body of sleep and you'll have
lousy fat loss. As a bonus, you also get muscle loss which lowers
your metabolism. The reason for this is because without enough
sleep the body stops producing anabolic hormones (Muscle
Producing/Fat Burning Hormones; e.g. Testosterone and Growth
hormone) and starts increasing the production of catabolic
hormones (Muscle Destroying/Fat Depositing Hormones e.g.
Cortisol). Also, you will lack the energy and focus to get
through your workouts and it will also lead to overtraining as
you won't be able to recover anymore. To top it off, there is
research that indicates that a lack of sleep creates cravings and
binges in addition to hardening of the arteries which leads to
heart attacks. If you don't think that you have enough time to
sleep, then turn off the TV and make the time!

Super Bowl Marketing: How To Market Your Business by the Month

Marketing your business can be as easy as looking at a 12-month
calendar. There is some kind of holiday or sporting event during
each month of the year. Even if the event has nothing to do with
your field of expertise, you can still take advantage of it by
using a little creativity. Below are some ideas to get you
started.

January

There are two major holidays in the month of January--New Year's
Day and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. A brand new year is always a
good time to advertise new products or to have a big sale on
them. If you are in the debt consolidation industry, this is a
great time to promote your services since many people go further
in to debt over the holidays. Not all businesses recognize MLK,
Jr. Day, but they should. This is a wonderful opportunity to show
that you are an equal-opportunity company that recognizes the
importance of honoring this civil rights leader. For sports
enthusiasts, the Superbowl is right around the corner. Find a way
to make connections between your business and this very popular
event. Customers always like to do business with people whom they
feel share a common interest.

February

Of course, the biggest event in February is Valentine's Day.
Flower shops and candy makers are all over this holiday. There is
no reason why a mortgage company couldn't put a little love into
their marketing. It should be pretty easy for any company to come
up with some clever advertising around this theme. This month
also showcases Groundhog's Day and President's Day. Offer
different discounts for customers based on what Punxsutawney Phil
predicts or special prizes for anyone who can guess how old the
Presidents would be.

March

This month is chocked full of reasons to celebrate. Daylight
Savings Time (for those of us not living in Arizona), St.
Patrick's Day, and the First Day of Spring are all good excuses
to market your product. Springtime brings to mind flowers and
shamrocks, so why not use this occasion to advertise the
spring-like qualities your industry has to offer? March is also a
huge month for college basketball. Use March Madness to lure
basketball fans to your store or website with bracket contests or
other basketball related scenarios.

April

April Fool's Day is probably the one holiday you should not use
in your advertising. No one likes to be fooled when it come to
their money. But if you decide to come up with a marketing idea
for this holiday, make sure the "surprise" is a good one. April
is also the month of Passover, Good Friday, and Easter. While
these are technically religious holidays, there should be no harm
in advertising products related to them, as long as they are
handled respectfully.

May

May is another great party month. Even though Cinco de Mayo is a
Mexican celebration, Americans are embracing it more and more
each year. This is one holiday that people of any race can
associate with, so get creative and use it to your advantage
before your competition does. May also gives us Mother's Day and
Memorial Day. Flowers tend to have a monopoly on these holidays
as well, but times are changing rapidly. People today are looking
for new ways to express their feelings. Perhaps your company has
a unique idea they could use. Let them know about it! May is also
the month for high school and college graduation ceremonies. This
is another huge advertising opportunity even if you don't
personally know a graduate.

June

The month of June leads us right into the First Day of Summer,
Flag Day, and Father's Day. Besides honoring Dear 'Ole Dad,
this is a great time of year to get patriotic. The Fourth of July
is right around the corner so start thinking Red, White, and
Blue. The last few years have put Americans through an emotional
ringer. Let your customers know you are proud to be an American
by offering free US flags with every purchase or by publishing
online articles about the importance of supporting our troops. If
there is any way at all to tie your company to patriotism, this
is the perfect time to do so.

July

Since Independence Day comes at the beginning of July,
advertising for this holiday should really begin in June.
However, there is no reason you cannot continue a patriotic theme
throughout July as well. Interestingly, there are a number of
"bizarre" holidays in July that could be great to use for
marketing purposes. For example, July 6th is National Fried
Chicken Day, July 14th is National Nude Day, and July 22nd is
National Ratcatcher's Day. How's that for a variety? Center a
marketing idea around one of these holidays and you will not only
educate the public, but possibly create a new tradition for your
company.

August

Everyone knows that August is the month that the kids go back to
school. Students and their parents are notorious for spending
lots of money at the beginning of the school year, so use this
opportunity offer discounts on everything from clothing to book
bags to inexpensive furniture and household goods. Almost any
company can create some kind of special deal for students or
their parents this month.

September

Come up with some way to honor the workingman this month and you
will be all set for Labor Day. If that doesn't work, there is
always Grandparents' Day or the First Day of Autumn. Anytime
there is a special day set-aside for a particular group of
people, companies should try to promote it through their
advertising. The recognized group will definitely appreciate your
efforts, and may reward you with new business.

October

Baseball is said to be America's favorite pastime, so in October
be prepared to do some World Series based marketing. Sporting
goods stores are obviously going to promote their baseball
products at this time, but other companies can get into the
spirit too. For instance, a company that sells insurance could
advertise travel insurance for fans that are going to the game.
Halloween is also a great theme to market around. This holiday
appeals to kids and parents alike so there are multitudes of ways
to approach this scheme.

November

Once again it is Daylight Savings Time for almost all of the
United States. Elections are held during this month, Veterans are
honored, and turkeys are carved. This month is split between
politics and thankfulness. This may be a prime time for showing
genuine customer appreciation in some way.

December

The last month of the calendar brings the most celebrations of
the year--Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Years Eve. People
are primed to spend money so make sure they know who you are and
what you do or sell. Online article marketing is a very effective
way to do this, but there are other options as well.

Final Thoughts...

If you use article marketing to promote your business, or if you
use any kind of print media, do keep lead-times in mind.

If you are looking to get an article into a print magazine, most
of those magazines run on a three- to six-month lead-time for
content. What that means to you is that the publisher must
approve your Thanksgiving article no later than August, in order
to make the deadline for the November issue of the magazine.

If you are trying to use article marketing to promote your online
business, lead-time is also a consideration to keep in mind.
While some online publications will use your article within just
a few days of having received it from you, most online
publications run on a 30- to 90-day lead-time for the articles
that they publish.

No matter how you choose to market your business, do not hesitate
to make use of that calendar on your desk. It could be the best
marketing tool you have ever used.

Flowers Even Inspire Barbie

The Barbie doll has inspired little girls for decades. Barbie has

been on or near the top of the most popular toy lists for a very

long time. Children are inspired by her pretty face and the
versatility of her character-Barbie can be anything! A doctor, a

model, a mother, a teacher, a veterinarian, or a mermaid. It's
no
wonder that with her beauty and versatility, she's even been a
flower; four of them, to be exact.

In 2001 and 2002 a collector's series of Barbie dolls was
inspired by the beauty of flowers. In the series, Barbie was
dressed in gowns resembling the blooms of some of the world's
favorite flowers. The four dolls in the set included, The Rose
Barbie, The Orchid Barbie, The Calla Lily Barbie, and The Iris
Barbie.

Flowers have not only inspired the artists who design Barbie,
they've inspired numerous artists in all mediums throughout the

ages. Poets have expounded on their beauty and painters have
created incredible works of art featuring flowers. In fact,
some of the most famous paintings in the world are of flowers.
For example, Van Gogh's Sunflowers painting and the numerous
paintings by Georgia O'Keefe, which typically show only a close

up view of a flower blossom.

Flowers don't just inspire artists, they have a similar effect
on
all who come in contact with them. In fact, a study has proven
that flowers have a powerful effect on people in an office
setting. The study took place at A&M University and showed that
flowers are capable of increasing the output and creativity of
employees who are exposed to them. The study was performed in
three environments: a workplace with flowers and plants, one with

sculptures, and one with no decorations. At the conclusion of the

study, data showed that both male and female participants were
more innovative, increased the number of ideas they had, and came

up with more inventive solutions to problems. In fact, among men

alone, ideas increased by 15%.

Another study showed that the appeal of flowers doesn't wane
even
as we age. A study conducted by Rutgers University, the State
University of New Jersey, indicated that flowers can help senior

citizens reduce depression, improve memory, and help them connect

with other people.

Inspire someone today-call your florist to order flowers. Your
gift of flowers can make your loved one's day a little brighter

and, who knows, you might even inspire the next great work of
art!

Several months ago, I shared with members of The Internet
Marketing Inner Circle what I considered THE key to a top-selling
Internet marketing product. That key is to make sure that the
product solves a HUGE, painful problem.

I also shared that one massive problem that I considered WORTH
tackling is the dismal email deliverability rates that many email
marketers are experiencing.

After all, what good does it do to build a list in the hundreds
of thousand (which is where my database is at), if much of the
email doesn't get through. This is a problem that I have
discussed with numerous top online marketers. Many of these
marketers, with lists in the hundreds of thousands, and even
millions, long for "the good old days" when a much higher
percentage of their email was delivered.

Many ezine publishers confide that they sometimes send out a
mailing and then wonder if ANYONE received it. Responses can
often be that low, and if it's a well-written email, the problem
HAS to be that it didn't get through.

Many marketers have started doctoring up individual words used in
their emails, thinking that this will partly solve the problem. I
find that words broken up with strange punctuation, or
deliberately misspelled, hurts overall response rates more than
it helps!

Many marketers have grown so frustrated that they've started
simply publishing their newsletters on their blogs, giving up on
the notion of delivering their full message right to subscribers
inboxes. They just send out a very short email inviting the
reader to the latest blog post. I don't consider that the best
solution.

However, setting up your email system so that more of your email
gets through isn't beyond the capability of the average email
marketer.

This is a topic that even those who don't use email marketing
need to understand because then they'll know exactly why they
often don't get emails that they WANT to receive.

The step-by-step instruction on how to remedy this problem are
beyond the scope of this article. It would take a book to explain
ALL of the intricacies. In-fact, there is an excellent primer on
the topic entitled, "Email Delivery Secret - EXPOSED." This
primer is brief yet thorough, and very inexpensive. You can get
it at: http://IncreasedEmailDelivery.org

Both this ebook, and experts that I've talked with on the topic,
explain that the key is how the server that the email is sent
from is configured.

Things that kill email deliverability, but are easy to correct
are:

1) Having open DNS server settings... allowing spammers to send
email through your server, and also causing many ISP's to block
all email from your server. I once had a host that had ALL email
from ALL customers blocked for this very reason. Hundreds of
screaming customers forced them to fix that oversight!

2) Having an improper DNS server configuration. This may be
beyond your control, but may also indicate that you need
different hosting.

3) Missing Sender Policy Framework (SPF) records, which other
servers use in deciding whether or not to accept email from you.
The SPF record is used to prevent or detect forged "from" email
addresses.

4) Missing key mailboxes on your server, such as
abuse@..., and others.

On the other side of the coin you need to understand that ISP's
such as Yahoo.com, Hotmail.com, and AOL, have fairly strict
guidelines on what email is allowed onto their servers.... and
into their customers' inboxes. The thing is, conditions that
cause these ISP's, used by million of your potential customers,
to block your emails are all published polices and procedures.

To get more of your email through to customers who receive email
at those ISP's, you really only need to make a few changes in
your email setup. These are things that make for logical, secure
email practices in the first place.

The bottom-line is that you CAN get a much higher percentage of
your emails delivered if you'll just set aside a little time to
discover why it's actually not getting through. Those reasons
aren't secrets that the ISP's hide from you! You just need to
learn them and then start working WITH the ISP's. As previously
pointed out, a good starting point is the ebook, "Email Delivery
Secret - EXPOSED." It will point you to a lot of tools and
resources to check things such as whether your domain (or IP
address) is blacklisted, and how to get it unblocked. That
inexpensive ebook, with some excellent screenshots for the
various server control panel setups, is at:
http://IncreasedEmailDelivery.org

Here's another thing... just taking the time to learn these few
good email practices will put you light-years ahead of your
competitors. Many of them just seem to prefer "sticking their
heads in the sand" and pretending that the problem doesn't
exist.

Low email deliverability rates are a real problem. Now, you know
how to do something about it.

What mother doesn't appreciate receiving a beautiful gift on
Mother's Day? But what do you get her? You're not sure of her
size and you're pretty sure that any clothing item you'd pick
out would be all wrong anyway. She's got plenty of bubble bath,

a library full of books, and her taste in music is beyond your
comprehension, so a CD is out. You're in luck, though. Your
florist has the perfect solution-flowers!

The fact is, Mother's Day is one of the busiest holidays for
florists because flowers are the perfect gift for any mom-yours,

your spouse's, or your own wife. In terms of flower and plant
purchases, Mother's Day is second only to the Christmas and
Chanukah season. Flower and plant purchases for Mother's Day
total a whopping 22 percent of total purchases throughout the
year. Of those flowers, 64 percent are purchased by men. And, of

course, 94 percent are bought as gifts with 6 percent being for
the purchaser herself. Here's where those floral gifts are
going:

* Mom is getting 56 percent of them.

* 23 percent of them are bought for a spouse or significant
other.

* 17 percent are for a relative.

* 4 percent go to friends.

Okay, so now you know that flowers are the way to go for
Mother's
Day, but that leaves a lot of questions still unanswered. Do you

get fresh flowers, a potted plant, or something for her garden?
If you choose a potted plant, should it be a flowering plant?
Here are a few statistics that might help you make those
decisions as well.

* Fresh flowers comprise 45 percent of floral and plant purchases

for Mother's Day. 41 percent are mixed flowers, 33 percent are
roses, 10 percent are carnations, 2 percent are orchids, 1
percent are chrysanthemums or daisies, 1 percent are lilies, and

12 percent are other types of single flowers.

* Bedding and garden plants are 37 percent of the purchases. 15
percent of those are geraniums, 15 percent are impatiens, and 12

percent are petunias. The remaining 58 percent are other
varieties.

* Flowering and green houseplants make up 18 percent of Mother's

Day purchases. Of the flowering houseplants, 12 percent are
azaleas, 5 percent are African violets, 5 percent are lilies, 3
percent are chrysanthemums, and the remaining 75 percent are a
variety of other plants.

If those statistics still leave you wondering what kind of
flowers to get, keep in mind that flowers are generally
universal. Almost everyone loves flowers, regardless of the kind

or color. And, your florist can help you choose the perfect
floral gift for the mom in your life-even if that mom is you!

Decorating Christina Aguilera's House With Flowers
Copyright (c) 2006-2008 Wesley Berry, AAF
Wesley Berry Flowers
http://www.800wesleys.com/

Having recently married, Christina Aguilera, like many newlyweds,

is probably working on setting up and decorating her house to
make it more of a home. Flowers are an excellent way to brighten

up any room in the house, and new trends in decorating with
flowers emerge every day.

When you or guests enter your home, you want the first space in
your home to bring a feeling of welcome and set the tone for the

rest of the house. Your entranceway gives the first impression of

your home. If you don't have an entryway space inside your front

door before you enter other rooms, use flowers outside the door.

Try hanging a wreath on your front door-grapevine or straw will
work well. Attach small vases to the wreath and place fresh cut
flowers in them. If you do have an entranceway space, you might
display a favorite piece of artwork and use flowers to help draw

eyes to it. If the piece is a sculpture placed on a pedestal,
you could drape the pedestal with flowers. Or, for a warmer,
friendlier feeling, set a basket of fresh flowers on a table.

In many homes, the kitchen is the gathering place. Flowers can be

used in any number of creative ways to brighten up your kitchen.

Try placing small clay pots in a windowsill and fill them with
plant varieties that love the sun. You might even grow your own
herbs, which can be a delightful decoration while being useful as

well. If your kitchen is the cozy, old-fashioned kind, flowers
will look great in antique water pitchers or teapots.

Keep your bedroom and guest bedroom smelling deliciously fresh
using fragrant flowers like lilacs, tea roses, lilies, peonies,
or freesias. If you happen to grow them in your own yard, snip a

few and place them in a bud vase on the dresser or bedside table.

These flower varieties are also available from your local
florist. If you prefer to use a less fragrant flower variety, you

can still keep the room smelling fresh by placing a bud vase down

inside a clear glass bowl filled with potpourri.

Your living room or family room can be made either warmer or
brighter, depending on the colors and styles of flowers you use.

If you'd like to brighten up your living room during the summer

and you have a fireplace, consider placing a large arrangement in

the hearth. You can carry that feeling to other areas of the room

by using the same flower varieties in smaller vases placed on end

tables or shelves. For a warming effect, float a few large
blooms, such as those from a gardenia or gerbera daisy, in a
crystal bowl with floating candles.

Regardless of the room, flowers can be used to achieve any look
you like. If you're at a loss for how you can use flowers in
your
home, take photographs of the spaces in your home where you'd
like
to add flowers and ask your florist for help. Your home can be
even
more beautiful than it is now-even if you don't live in a
mansion
the likes of Christina Aguilera's.

You've done everything right to grab targeted visitors to your
website. Finally! You sit there basking in the glow of
satisfaction when you check out your web logs. Your eyes roll to
the back of your head... you're not thinking lots of traffic.
You're thinking hordes of it with plastic in hand. And you
can't wait to check your orders and optins. Then?

Awful, gut-wrenching reality sinks in.

Nothing. No orders. No optins. You double check your traffic
logs. And it looks a lot like your visitors cannot wait to get
outta town! It's like your site is coated with Teflon instead of
super glue. Ever heard the saying... slicker 'n a mouse's lip?

But wait... don't throw your self into the oncoming rush hour
traffic. Here's what you can do today to remove the slippery
stuff and send the mouse packing.

Every visitor arrives at your website wondering just one thing:
How will this place benefit ME! It's me, me, me. "I hope this
place has what I'm looking for." So?

Tell them. Be upfront about it. This is no time to be shy... to
be the staid marketer. Let them know the reason for your
website's existence. Maybe you're thinking... 'well, my domain
has keywords in it. It's at the top blazoned in size 26
cool-looking font. They can see all the product pics
everywhere.'

Ok. So are you telling me you're just like everyone else selling
the same stuff you do? There's nothing utterly unique about your
business, your offer, your terms, your customer service, your
customer retention or appreciation programs?

Nothing?

Better find something fast because if not, then you're just like
everyone else and so it really doesn't matter if they do
business with you.

Be very clear about what you're selling. Try not to think about
you or how cool your graphics and soft-focused pics are. That's
all nice. But you want the truth? They don't really care half a
wit about it. You're right...

Appropriate amounts Do help create a professional image. But try
to add a dose of moderation. Be tasteful about it. Not
overwhelming.

If you have a serious business with serious content, then don't
hide behind the curtains. Peeking around to see who's there.

Remember, among other things, you're trying to build trust. And
people will trust you a whole lot more if they know who the heck
is running the place. "Who OWNS this place?" So let them see your
lovely mug... your face. Make it easy to contact you. Give 'em a
number to call, an email or warm and friendly form to fill out...
the best you can. How about letting them know where on the planet
your business calls home? Stuff like that. It'll go a long way
to help build credibility and trust. If you're not hiding, then
people will naturally think you have nothing to hide. Makes sense
to me. So they'll start thinking maybe you can be trusted with
their money or optin info.

I remember being at a software site. And I really, really wanted
this software. And this is the absolute truth: I spent almost 10
minutes finding the order link. It was maddening! But I wanted
that software so much I became obsessed with finding the order
link.

It was on the second page in the middle of the page. I was
floored. I actually wondered if it was some very unwise joke or
the guy was just totally bereft of any marketing clue.

I bought the software. Great software. Dumbest site navigation I
ever witnessed.

Moral of the story? Don't be like that, please.

Related to that has to do with giving your eager buyers as many
ways to part with their hard-earned cash as possible. Ordering
options. You've used them before. Right? An 800 number, order
form, credit cards, paypal, how about... snail mail.

Options are cool. Be cool and you'll get more orders.

How about leveraging your customers? Have strategically placed
comments from your legions of happy and satisfied buyers. Social
pudding with heavy doses of proof in it! That's a winning
recipe, for sure.

There it is, pals. Those are but a smattering from my personal
bag of tricks. But they're really not tricks. Just what works.

There are those that walk amongst us who have followed all the
advice, diligently dieted and exercised with genuine effort
for long periods of time, yet still fail to lose their excess
weight.

Even more heartbreaking for those of us who genuinely struggle
with obesity are the accusations of sloth and laziness from
those thin people who eat junk all day long and show no physical

sign of their own gluttony. "Why can't you just be like
everyone
else?", they demand. "It must be all your own fault."

"After all," they say in derisory voice, "Losing weight is
easy.
Just eat less and exercise more. If you don't lose weight, you
are just weak willed."

Every person who has never had a real problem thinks they
know all the easy answers. All those underlying unwarranted
generalisations we face from others just about every day of
our lives is a little recognised yet very real and severe form
of discrimination, based on the same types of wrong thinking
as prejudice against race, skin color, creed, gender, and
other well recognised forms of hatred.

In fact, life experience has taught me that the less a person
*actually* knows about obesity and weight loss, the more they
*think* they know.

I spent time a few years ago under the care of some of the
most distinguished and knowledgable internationally renowned
Professors researching weight loss and obesity from the
University of Sydney and the Royal Prince Albert Hospital's
Obesity Clinic in Sydney, Australia. I will always remember
what Professor Ian Caterson told me one day:

"The more we learn about obesity, the more we realise
how little we really understand and how much more
     there is to discover."

Would any of those permanently thin critics care to explain a
man with whom I shared many physiotherapy and hydrotherapy
sessions during my time on the program at the Obesity Clinic?
He was normal down the left side of his body, though obese
down the right side of his body only.

Next time someone verbally berates you for carrying excess body
weight and tries to tell you how easy it is to be lean & trim,
try asking them what they would recommend to that man that some
of the top obesity researchers in the world don't yet know.

Then, while your critic is looking dumbfounded and fumbling for
some feeble explanation, hit them with a few more questions,
such as:

1. - Why do large birth weight babies have a dramatically
higher rate of obesity than normal birth weight babies?

2. - And, given the above, just what control do you think I've
      got over my birth weight?

3. - Do you know what your metabolic rate is? If not, why do
you presume to think you know mine?

4. - Do you think everyone has identical norepinephrine levels?
Oh, you don't even know what norepinephrine is, huh?

5. - Why do some people gain weight during stressful times
while other people lose weight, irrespective of their
      eating patterns?

6. - How do you expect an overweight person to even be capable
of greater physical activity than a normal weight person?

7. - Name me five minerals (not vitamins) that are vital for
hormonal function, and explain which of these hormones
has a different effect on brain signals related to
      appetite and metabolism.

8. - Tell me what you know about Insulin Resistance Syndrome,
what causes it, what its symptoms are, and how to treat it.

9. - What has the least nutrient value to the human body - (a)
100 calories of pure fat, (b) 100 calories of pure protein,

or (c) 100 calories of pure carbohydrate? (By the way -
Your critic will probably answer Fat. The correct answer
is C. The human body actually requires fats and proteins
for various metabolic and physiological functions. Pure
carbohydrate has no known unique use in the human body as
the body can convert either fats or proteins as required
into blood glucose, as it does with carbohydrate.)

10. - Some of the most successful business people, scientists,
philosophers and artists in the course of human history
have struggled with obesity. Why do you think such
successful and influential people who have changed the
course of the world as we know it today are "weak
willed"?

When you see the jaw of your critic drop to the floor, as they
turn pale and look like they've been hit by a runaway train,
when their silence shows that their ignorance and prejudice
has been thoroughly exposed, just calmly walk away.

At this point, both of you now know that, even though you may
be carrying excessive body weight, it is your critic who has
the bigger problem.

"Out of clutter, find Simplicity.
From discord, find Harmony.
In the middle of difficulty lies Opportunity."
-- Albert Einstein

Many who come to me for help feel their lives (or some parts of
them) are difficult, cluttered, and discordant. Worse, they feel
guilty because they can't "balance" all the parts of their
lives.

Don't feel bad. You can balance a clock, car wheels, and
sometimes a seesaw, but it's hard to balance a life. And if you
could, would you really want to?

A second definition of "balance" is "to cancel out."

In nature, balance often means death. Experts tell us that
living systems exist "far from equilibrium." In frigid Artic
air, for example, your body maintains a temperature far from
balance.

So why do people seek balance?

Because they have competing desires.

Career or Family? Simplicity or Success? Being or Becoming?
Trying to achieve both can lead to much back and forthing between
desires. So people try for balance.

But most such attempts lead to seesaw behavior. Balance is
precarious. A slight pressure on one side of a seesaw tips it
into imbalance. And seesaws balance just 2 things!

So, what's the alternative? All work and no family? Simplicity
but no success? No. The alternative is integration.

Integrate means, "combine (parts) into a whole."

When you combine parts of your life into an integrated whole,
things become simpler. Discord and difficulty give way to
opportunity. Life becomes coherent. Harmony increases.

Take an Olympic athlete, for example. By organizing her life
around what matters most, she lives a far from balanced life.
Sport predominates. But it doesn't drive out the other parts of
her life.

She still has friends, does yoga, goes to church, maintains a
special relationship, often works at a day job, and may even go
to school. But because she integrates those things so they
support her predominant athletic goal, her life is whole and
harmonious.

You can do the same thing.

Rather than force parts of your life to balance, your life will
be simpler, more successful, and harmonious if you arrange less
important parts to support predominant parts.

Instead of making yourself "jog 30 minutes a day," and hating
it, envision the fit, healthy, and vital body you would love to
have. Then organize as many parts of your life as you can to
support that vision.

Start walking. As you get fitter, start jogging or cycling,
until you can do 30 minutes a day. Use your increased fitness to
ski, dance, do Pilates, or other physical things with friends.

Bring eating habits in line with your vision of vitality. Become
a non-smoker. Instead of hanging out with drinkers at a bar or
bon-bon eaters in cafÈs, hang out with like-minded friends at the
Y, Curves, or running clubs.

Read about exercise, health, and spirit. Go to events that
inspire you to stretch your capacity. As getting fit gradually
becomes something you love, it engages your whole self. It
enables your head, hands, and heart to come together.

The confidence that comes from physical success enables you to
stretch in other areas of life. Take on challenges, develop new
capacities, and integrate those into a life lived from your
deepest values and highest aspirations.

As your whole life becomes integrated, it becomes simpler, more
successful, harmonious, and joyful. Wordsworth put it
beautifully: "With an eye made quiet by the power/ Of harmony,
and the deep power of joy,/ We see into the life of things."

To create joy and harmony in your life, focus on what matters
most. Put first things first and organize your time and actions
so they support what truly matters.

If you do this well, your life will flow. You'll feel more
relaxed, even as you get more done. Instead of being a sad
lament, your life will sing like a sweet sounding whole.

So, forget balance. Think integration, and create harmony.

The Business Planning Process: Launch Your Small Business Startup With Success

Business planning is one of the most important steps towards
building a successful startup business, and you can use some
specific strategies to create a comprehensive outline. An
effective business plan will help you determine your goals and
help you organize all of your small business ideas with ease.

If you've ever been stuck with too many ideas and not knowing
where to start, business planning will help take the pressure
off. Understanding the business planning process is important
for creating something that works, and something that will help
you reach your goals. Launching your small business startup is
much easier with a clear, step-by-step outline; here's what you
need to know:

Step 1: Organize your table of contents. This will help you
outline each area of your business to include your mission
statement, products and services, number of employees, and any
basic market research information.

Step 2: Collect attachments and appendix materials. These are
especially important if your business plan will be reviewed by
potential investors or business partners, and can also help with
your online business planning strategy.

Step 3: Create a list of key topics and sections. Not only will
this create a cohesive document, but you'll also be able to
jumpstart your business planning process with a clear 'map' or
guide of all your strategies. This list is especially helpful if
you're not sure where to begin, since you can just put each item
down on paper and organize it accordingly.

Step 4: Assign projects and tasks for each area. This is an
effective business planning strategy as it helps you break down
each goal into actions steps. Assigning tasks and objectives in
this way makes it much easier to stay on track during each step.

Step 5: Check for grammar, spelling, and even factual errors.
Making sure your plan and notes are clear of mistakes is
especially important if you'll be presenting it to others.
Doing a quick check will also help you determine if you missed
any pieces of critical information and help you fine-tune the
final-draft.

Step 6: Write up an executive summary for your small business
startup. This is an important step for all business owners, and
can help you pull together the entire plan in a few short pages.
Many business owners turn to this summary when they need a
briefing on objectives during the course of business, and you can
include basic points and topics as if you were presenting it to a
board or audience.

Step 7: Get an outsider's perspective. While you need to keep
your business planning strategy and ideas as confidential as
possible, sharing your plan with a trustworthy person can help
you catch a few key elements of your project. Get an objective
view of your plan and notes so you have everything in well
organized and presented in a logical way.

Business planning doesn't have to be difficult, but the process
intimidates many startup business owners. Take the time to
organize the critical areas of your business and put them in a
logical order. Then, break them down into specific objectives
and tasks so you have a strong idea of how you can be successful
in each area. The time and effort you put into business planning
will pay off for the long run, and help you launch your small
business startup with success.

This article is about involvement and commitment, two of the
things we need to be successful. This applies to our jobs or
businesses, relationships, and even recreational pursuits.

Any type of success, whether it is personal, professional,
academic, or athletic, will usually require a combination of
involvement and commitment.

I hope the headline stirred your interest. Here is how
chickens, pigs, and even cows, can help define involvement
and commitment.

Think about a meal consisting of eggs and ham and consider
the contributions made by a chicken and a pig. A chicken
provided the eggs and a pig provided the ham. It can be said
the chicken was involved, because the chicken continues to
live as it lays more eggs. It can be said the pig was
committed, because the pig gave its all to provide the ham
and other pork products.

The same principle can be applied to two cows and a
cheeseburger. The cow that provided the milk to be processed
into cheese was involved, while the cow that provided the
beef for the hamburger patty was committed.
It is not my intention to make light of animals that lose
their life to provide food for humans, nor to offend anyone
that does not eat beef or pork for religious or dietary
reasons. These examples simply illustrate that being
involved may mean being a participant with little or no
effort, while being committed takes time and energy, and
means much more than just being involved.

Consider a recreational activity, such as a game of chess,
or a softball game. You can be involved by just playing the
game, no matter how good you are. However, to really be
successful, to win more than you lose, you must have made a
commitment at some point in your life. For chess, it means
taking the time to understand the game and study winning
strategies. For softball, it means at some point you
practiced hitting and throwing a ball. There are a few
fortunate people with a large degree of natural ability to
do certain things, but most of us need to work at it.

Most of us have made some commitments for which we put forth
a small effort on a regular basis. For example, things like
taking a bath/shower and brushing our teeth are often taken
for granted. However, those things can be thought of as a
commitment to good grooming and proper hygiene.

Marriage definitely takes involvement and commitment. You
can be involved just by signing a marriage license and
saying some vows. For the marriage to be a lasting success,
it takes a commitment from both people. It means working
together toward shared goals, communicating with each other,
and resolving the occasional conflicts that may happen. It
may take a little effort, but the personal rewards are well
worth it.

A commitment isn't something to fear, nor does it mean that
your entire life must revolve around the commitment. You
simply direct some time and effort toward accomplishing your
goal. You may have several goals in your personal and
professional life. Things such as striving for a promotion,
improving your golf game, losing that extra twenty pounds,
and being a better spouse or parent are examples of worthy
goals. It takes a commitment of both time and effort to
reach each milestone.

Involvement and commitment are also important when it comes
to business opportunities; especially network marketing. You
need to put forth some effort to really make things happen,
no matter how much hype you hear about your downline being
built for you. When you look at an opportunity, try to find
out the level of commitment that's needed to reach a desired
level of success.

People who are successful in their chosen endeavors agree
that we can all get more out of life when a little bit of
involvement and commitment is applied to the things we
consider to be important.

Start making improvements today by deciding which things are
most important and make a commitment to do them better.
Often, a little more effort will produce tremendous results.

You're sitting in the doctor's office awaiting your test
results. The doctor comes through the door wearing a polite,
uneasy smile. She sits and faces you squarely. And with a deep
breath, she tells you that you have cancer. You blink back
confusion as the doctor talks about surgery, chemo and radiation.
Soon you don't hear her anymore. Your thoughts consume you.
Where did the cancer come from? How bad is it?

Scientists state that genetics account for about 30% of our
cancer risk. Other factors that contribute to the development of
cancer and other degenerative diseases include diet, smoking,
alcohol consumption, environmental pollutants, radiation from the
sun as well as x-rays and stress.

Crops are grown in soil where chemical fertilizers are used. Now
having nutrient-inferior crops, this produce is then subjected to
further depletion of nutrients by cooking and many storage
methods.

The three major killers today, heart disease, cancer and
stroke-as well as other degenerative diseases--likely have a
common beginning. This beginning may have had its roots in
childhood. Children, and adults alike, don't often get enough
exercise, are often overweight, and have diets consisting of
sugary drinks, processed foods and cereals that are depleted of
vitamins and minerals. At fast-food restaurants, we consume
high-fat, calorie-laden meals.

Because of our nutrient-deficient diet (made even worse by frying
foods in oil), and our lifestyles and environment, high levels of
free radicals attack healthy cells in our bodies. These healthy
cells weaken and become more susceptible to disease. Methodically
and covertly, cells are subjected to repeated damage often over a
period of many years.

However, not all free radicals are bad news. Some help destroy
viruses and bacteria while others are involved in the production
of hormones and the turning on of enzymes.

Here are some interesting scientific findings about the three
major killers:

  * Flavonoids, an antioxidant found in fruits and vegetables,
protect the heart by preventing blood clots, lowering blood
pressure and protecting against the bad cholesterol.

  * A stroke occurs when blood flow-usually from a clot-to a
portion of the brain is cut off. Scientists report that there is
a strong correlation between high fruit and vegetable consumption
and a reduction in the risk of stroke. Again, the flavonoids are
attributed to lowering blood pressure and preventing clot
formation.

  * Although scientists report that genetics account for about 30%
of our cancer risk, they state that 35% of cancer deaths,
especially breast, prostate and colon cancers are related to
diet.

If we don't eat enough fruits and vegetables, and if those that
we do eat are nutritionally-deficient, we are sitting ducks for
heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis,
premature aging, arthritis and other degenerative diseases. We
often don't know we are ill until the disease is well advanced.
And many of these diseases kill us softly. Sometimes we go to our
graves never knowing what put us there.

Preventing, halting or reversing this process should be our
number one health concern, and it begins with awareness. Start an
exercise program under your doctor's guidance, eat organic foods
since they are free of pesticides, hormones, antibiotics,
preservatives, artificial flavorings and colorings and are not
genetically modified.

Besides eating organic, eat three to five servings each of raw
fruits and vegetables daily. (If not raw, then lightly steamed
since cooking destroys many valuable enzymes and vitamins.) A
simple way to get our daily quota of vegetables is by juicing
them.

Daily supplementation with quality nutritionals is a must for
optimal health. But not all vitamins and minerals are created
equal. Many on the market are adulterated and downright unsafe.
Choose only the best supplements.

Lyle MacWilliam, in his book, Nutrisearch Comparative Guide To
Nutritional Supplements, states: "If you value your health, it
only makes sense to take that extra step-begin supplementing your
diet with a high-quality broad-spectrum nutritional supplement,
then stay on it every day for the rest of your life.
Supplementation is your personal health insurance plan that will
help you age gracefully. It is not just there to assist you when
you fall ill; it is there to keep you healthy in the first
place."

is a lifetime process.

1. Nicotine: If you're a smoker, don't even bother with a body
detox program unless you are committed to quit. Besides being
deadly, there are hundreds of carcinogens and tons of other
chemicals that will hinder your ability to follow a body detox
program. Slowly wean yourself off of smoking or go to your doctor
for help.

2. Stress: Even if you think you are doing everything right, your
whole body detox will never work if you're constantly stressed
out. Stress triggers hormones that slow the process, and can keep
a full body detox form working. Be sure you deal with stress as
soon as it comes up through meditation, exercise or whatever
works.

3. UV Rays: Frying on a tanning bed wreaks havoc on any body
detox diet, so does spending hours in the sun leaving your skin
unprotected. UV damages your body and piles the toxins on. Be
sure to wear a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15, and reapply
after a couple of hours in the sun.

4. Not getting enough nutrients in your diet: Certain B-vitamins,
beta-carotene, and other nutrients are vital to any body detox
diet. Be sure to eat plenty of leafy greens, including seaweed.
Bulk up on fiber and eat plenty of brown rice. Take a
multivitamin daily. Omega 3s and/or fish oil is also a good thing
to add.

5. Ingesting chemicals: A total body detox includes shunning all
toxins. Try to eat as many organic foods as possible, keeping
away from foods that may have pesticides, BGH, and other
chemicals. Try shopping at farmer's market or your local produce
stand to avoid paying the higher prices in specialty markets.

6. Staying dehydrated: Eight glasses a day is no longer the
recommended amount of water you should drink. Divide by your
weight in lbs by two, and drink that many ounces of water daily.
Hydration will help you feel refreshed and move those toxins out
of your pores.

7. Cut back on prescriptions: While some medications are
necessary, cut back on any painkillers or other medications that
are not for chronic or life threatening conditions. Some of
these medications are actually bad for your liver and will hinder
the whole body detox.

Remember that there is no way you can cut all this out at once.
Easy does it. Gradually cut back on the harmful things and work
in the good stuff. Don't think of this as punishment or some
kind of restriction. These are lifestyle changes, an essential to
making any body detox program work.

Several Ways And Means To Buy Expired Domain

Expired Domain Secret
http://www.expireddomainsecret.com

One of the best reasons for indulging in expire domain business
is its ability to provide you very lucrative profits for the
money invested into the business. Expired domain market is a busy
place where everyone would jostle and rush out to find their own
expire domains with sense of deep conviction. In reality, buying
an expired domain is not as easy as you feel it will be! There
are several reasons and causes that motivate people like you and
me to buy expired domain. Here are some established tips and
suggestions that will teach you how you can buy expired domain in
an ever-busy market place.

Generally, all soon to get expired domains go through three
phases of life:

  * Expired status, when the owner of the domain in question will
have 40 days of grace period, when he or she can renew the domain
again by paying a standard fee
  * Redemption period, when the domain enters its decisive period
of shut-down and the owner of the domain may need to cough up
renewal fee, along with additional penalty.
  * Locked period, when the domain name in question enters the
deletion phase, which is usually 5 days long. And, on the last
day, the name will be officially dropped from the database
between 11AM and 2PM Pacific time. Soon after this time, anyone
can register for the expired domain.

With these phases of expiration cycle, how does one buy expired
domain? In fact, a simple search and buy method may not work in
the real sense. There are smart entrepreneurs, who use better and
quicker methods to grab the domains, before you actually do. It
means that you may need to use methods similar to those used by
these entrepreneurs.

Experienced people who are well versed in snatching expired
domains always use smart methods. One such method is the "Drop
Method" that promises you good expired domains. The Drop is that
unpredictable three hour time period, in which the domain gets
deleted from the registrar's database and released back into the
pool. If you feel that you can buy expired domain during the
dropping process is very easy, you are sadly mistaken and
confused. There are no fewer than three or four major services
that specialize in snatching away all the good names that become
available for sale.

To buy expired domain from a large pool of domains, you may wish
to enlist the services on three major domain trading firms, so
that you can hope that they will grab a domain name on your
behalf. Three main expired domain name trading firms are:

  * Snapnames.com,
  * Enom.com, and
  * Pool.com

All these three forms act and operate in a similar manner. They
always use a network of registrars to aim at the ICAAN servers at
frequent intervals and grab as many names as possible. As a
normal rule, if you do not get your desired name, you will not
pay a cent to them. All the three forms operate in slightly
different ways and manner.

Another common way to buy expired domain is to approach the
soon-to-expire domain owner and ask, if they can transfer the
domain name to your name. Yet, another way is to participate in a
regular domain auction and buy an expired domain at a very high
price. Whatever the way you chose, your main goal should be
picking a good and decent domain at an affordable price; to buy
expired domain name from the open market, you will also need to
know how domain trading business works and operates in the real
sense.

While The Cat's Away... What Do The Mice Do?

Article Description:
====================

This current article deals with how to begin to learn the basics
of heightened awareness to surveillance situations we all
encounter on a fairly regular basis. We have all been sometimes
unsure of what is happening to our home when we are at work or
whom is rifling through our desk and filing cabinets at the
office. In this article I describe some easy methods that we can
all use to begin to protect our assets at home and work and even
our cars. This can even be done using the Internet from a remote
location in real time.

While The Cat's Away... What Do The Mice Do?

Veale Safety

Our lives are busy. We work hard for the things we want and need
for our family. Often times there are people around us who we
trust a lot. Yet we have never really investigated who and what
they are. We need to become significantly more vigilant in our
efforts to protect ourselves by utilizing some simple techniques
that are available to all of us. This article will describe easy
methods to achieve this goal. All of us can and should do this.

The Most Important Tips To Determine How Safe Your Environment
Is

  * You and your loved ones - are you all properly safeguarded?
There are many ways to do this in today's electronic world but I
am specifically speaking about yourself and family while in your
own home. You need to really give this some serious
consideration. Even if you pay for a monthly security service
many municipalities may not respond because of excessive false
alarms and lack of police personnel.

  * Are your locks and entry points adequate to deter home
invasion (the most popular new sport amongst thieves)? Several
new, non-lethal, technical innovations are now affordable and
easily obtained that will provide the peace of mind that we all
want and deserve. I will describe some later in this article and
also in future articles.

  * Have you had family discussions concerning what to do in the
case of different emergency scenarios? This is a high priority
and should be done on a fairly regular basis. Home invasion,
fire, terrorism, and weather related situations, blackouts, etc.
All of these common situations, and many less frequent, need to
be addressed.

  * After planning out your strategy you will need to find all the
necessary resources to make your personal world a safer place. It
is probably unrealistic to think that you will achieve %100.
However, with increased awareness and a few high quality
deterrents implemented into your home, you will make for a less
than desirable target for a criminal and they will seek out an
easier target.

  * Do some simple investigating regarding how much criminal
activity is occurring in your neighborhood. You may be well
advised to install a surveillance camera system to monitor
activity around your residence and street. Increasing your level
of presence near your home is one of the keys that thieves and
criminal types are very attuned to. You do it and they go
elsewhere.

As I have stated in my previous PERSONAL SAFETY articles,
awareness is a critical key to the prevention of becoming a
victim or being a survivor. With increases in technology and
decreases in cost of equipment, we can all benefit by staying
alert of changes and incorporating some easily implemented
protection for ourselves, our families and our businesses.

What happens at home while you are at work? What happens at work
after you leave? Who is at the front door? All these and many
more questions are becoming ever more difficult to answer and may
represent danger to each and every aspect of our lives. What
follows are five ways you can provide answers and proof of what
is happening while you are not around.

Five Ways To Quickly Protect Your Home And Business

1. Covert video recording cameras are now affordable, tiny,
easily installed and hidden. NannyCams and hidden camera
resolution is more than adequate to provide the necessary proof
to authorities or yourself to take appropriate action to remedy
the negative situation. This is true for HOME and OFFICE
situations.

2. Hidden cameras are available for automobile installation,
which will protect both your car as well as giving you a view and
record of your home or office entry areas and parking locations.
They are not costly and anyone can do the setup.

3. There is NASA developed computer programming available that
will allow you to monitor any of your cameras from ANY computer
and if you have Internet capability, anywhere in the world! This
includes work, home, and even using your laptop while on vacation
to see what is happening at home. DVR systems with up to sixteen
channel capability are available that will record endlessly until
the hard drive is full. Each camera will only use approximately
1GB per day.

4. While we have become immune to car alarm systems, there are
EXTREMELY loud alarms available for your home and office that
will deter any intruder. Coupled with personal safety devices
like stun guns, tasers mace, etc. this is a very affordable way
to provide some peace of mind to us as individuals.

5. Without proof there is no way to involve the Police to
investigate and apprehend the criminal who is responsible. If you
are hit once, the criminal then knows you are an easy target in
the future. Prevention begins with protection.

What does all this mean for you? Technological advances are
evolving at a literally screaming pace. Criminal types are also
evolving at a screaming pace. Each of us needs to protect our
personal space with whatever technology is available to put
ourselves and our work and home environments a "STEP ABOVE" the
rest of the crowd. In doing so, we take away our appeal to the
average (but intelligent) criminal. Do your own investigation
concerning what is available. Visit my websites and others. Ask
hard questions. Keep asking until you are satisfied. In my prior
articles I have dealt with personal protection issues and while
this is certainly of paramount concern to us all, so is the
protection of all our accomplishments and possessions. We all
need to be proactive in this regard. If we do this we will have
less need to be reactive after something happens.

As always, be aware, be safe but remember to think about these
issues and take the necessary steps to give you peace of mind for
your future.

Sexy songstress Shakira was born February 9, 1977, during the
month of the violet. But, if you're at all familiar with her
hip shaking moves, you know she's no shrinking violet. However,

she certainly has one thing in common with the violet - her
popularity. The African violet has long been one of the most
popular flowering potted plants.

The African violet is known for its soft, fuzzy leaves that
are shaped like hearts. The leaves may have smooth, ruffled,
or serrated edges and are light green or red-violet on the
underside. Some of them even have variegated leaves. While most
people recognize them for their unique leaves, they also grow
beautiful flowers in deep purple, lavendar, pink, yellow, white,

red, and bicolors.

Although very popular, the African violet also has a reputation
for being a finicky plant that's difficult to keep. They do,
indeed, have special care requirements, but none of them is
really that hard to follow. To keep your African violet healthy,

follow these easy rules:

* Place your plant in an area that receives 14 to 16 hours of
bright light each day. This can be artificial light or sunlight,

but should never be direct sunlight. If you're using a
fluorescent light, be sure to keep it at least ten inches from
the top of the plant. Yellow leaves are an indication that your
plant isn't getting enough light.

* Water the plants often enough to keep the soil moist, but not
wet. In general, you should avoid getting the leaves wet. But,
should the leaves get wet or need a gentle washing to remove
dust, place the plant out of the light until it is completely
dry. Don't use water that has been filtered through a water
softener or that has a great deal of chlorine in it. Instead,
purchase spring water from the store or leave tap water out
overnight before watering. Use room temperature water.

* Remove leaves as they become yellow or brown. Blooms should
also be clipped off when they begin to brown around the edges.

* Grow violets in small pots. A 4-inch pot is usually sufficient.

Make sure you place the pot away from drafts. Plastic pots are
usually best as the violet's leaves may actually begin to react

to clay pots after a time.

African violets make an excellent gift. They're a lovely plant
that most people appreciate receiving, but if you're making a
gift to an inexperienced violet grower, make sure you include
a bit of information about their care. Your florist may have
a booklet or care card to provide the information. If not, you
could include a small hand-written or typed note to let the
recipient know how they can keep their new plant happy.

Some Useful Tips For Starting Your Home Based Business

By Kirk Bannerman

When starting out in their first home based business adventure
people almost always suffer information overload in the early
stages of trying to get their business up and running. I often
refer to this as the "taking a drink from a fire hose syndrome".

During the past few years I have helped thousands of people start
their own home based businesses. Many of these folks have become
quite successful and others, for various reasons, have failed to
achieve success.

For the first time home business entrepreneur there will be a
great deal of "newness" to virtually all aspects of getting their
business started. When you combine all of this "newness" along
with the natural sense of excitement and eagerness, it is easy
to understand how people can easily fall prey to the feeling
of being overwhelmed and lost.

To a degree, the confusion/frustration/overload situation
frequently encountered in the initial startup phase is often
similar to the old saying about trying to run before learning to
walk.

The steepness (is that a word?) of the learning curve depends
not only upon the particular type of business that is being
undertaken, but also upon the background and skills of the
person starting the business. In any event, when first
starting out, people will usually try to move forward too
quickly.

I caution people to come to grips with reality and to be
realistic in their expectations. Far too many folks read
advertisements that are hype and imply quick money, and lots of
it, from a home-based business start-up. It will certainly take
at least a year, and in some cases two to three years, before
you should expect to begin to truly make a significant profit
from your business.

It takes a lot of time to successfully market and promote a new
business. Starting out a new business with the expectation of
earning a full time income from a part time effort is not very
realistic and is likely to lead to disappointment.

If you are planning on starting a home-based business with the
intention of spending a great deal of time with young children
or caring for a sick or elderly family member, a full-time home
business (and income) may not be a realistic objective from a
time availability standpoint. Try to reconcile your income
expectations with the amount of time that you have available to
devote to starting your home business.

You can expect to experience periods of doubt in the early stages
of developing your business...did I pick a viable business
opportunity?...am I doing the right things to develop my
business?...when will I start making a profit?, and so on.

A person working at a home based business may also experience
occasional periods of feeling isolated...a feeling which
is probably brought on by the lack of interaction of a work
force or office environment.

Whatever type of home based business that you choose to start,
you can rest assured that there will be some bumps in the road
leading to your success. You should expect to experience the
"two steps forward and one step backward" thing and try to avoid
the ever-looming temptation to become overly discouraged when you
take one of those backward steps. It is very easy to lose sight
of the obvious fact that as long as you have more steps forward
than backward you will eventually get ahead!

Product Mislabeling Makes Recalls Likely

Article Description:

What happens when drug or medical device manufacturers mislabel
their products? The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regularly
monitors labels for false claims and errors, often pulling whole
lots of product for which it finds a problem. Case in point: a
recent nationwide recall of Encore Tablets, a dietary supplement
sold in health food stores, via the internet and by mail order
nationwide and in Canada.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regularly monitors labels
for false claims and errors, often pulling whole lots of product
for which it finds a problem. Case in point: a recent nationwide
recall of Encore Tablets, a dietary supplement sold in health
food stores, via the internet and by mail order nationwide and in
Canada.

The product was recalled because it contains potentially harmful,
undeclared ingredients. According to FDA, the undeclared
chemicals poses a threat to consumers because they may interact
with nitrates found in some prescription drugs (such as
nitroglycerin) and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels.

In a similar vein, approximately $2 Million of a potentially
harmful "cosmetic" eye product was recently seized by FDA. The
product, a batch of 12,682 applicator tubes of Age Intervention
Eyelash, may lead to decreased vision. Age Intervention Eyelash
is sold and distributed by Jan Marini Skin Research, Inc., of San
Jose, Calif.

FDA considers Age Intervention Eyelash to be an unapproved and
misbranded drug because Jan Marini Skin Research has promoted the
product to increase eyelash growth. Before any new drug product
may be legally marketed, it must be shown to be safe and
effective, and approved by FDA.

FDA also considers the seized Age Intervention Eyelash to be an
adulterated cosmetic. The product contains bimatoprost, an active
ingredient in an FDA-approved drug to treat elevated intraocular
pressure (elevated pressure inside the eye).

Also in recent months, the labeling has been revised for the
diabetes drug Avandia. FDA announced that the manufacturer of
Avandia (rosiglitazone) has agreed to add new information about
potential increased risk for heart attacks to the existing boxed
warning. Avandia, which is used to treat type 2 diabetes, is
manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline.

FDA is allowing Avandia to stay on the market while a new
long-term study to evaluate the potential cardiovascular risk of
Avandia, compared to an active control agent, is conducted by
GSK. The company agreed to add new information to the drug's
labeling, warning of the potential for increased risk of heart
attacks.

Mislabeling has also hit the dietary supplement industry, when
approximately $71,000 of dietary supplements was recently seized
at FDA's request. U.S. Marshals seized the goods from FulLife
Natural Options, Inc., of Boca Raton, Fla., which marketed and
distributed Charantea Ampalaya Capsules and Charantea Ampalaya
Tea.

Although these products were labeled as dietary supplements, they
were being promoted by FulLife for use in treating serious
conditions, such as diabetes, anemia, and hypertension. These
claims were evident in the products' labeling, including
promotional literature and FulLife's Internet Web site.

FDA considers these products to be unapproved new drugs because
they make claims related to the prevention or treatment of
diseases in the products' labeling.

Following an investigation of the firm's marketing practices,
FDA officials advised FulLife that the claims related to
prevention or treatment of diseases made these products subject
to regulation as drugs. Despite FDA's warnings, the firm failed
to bring its marketing into compliance with the law. During
subsequent inspections, FDA inspectors found that the offending
claims were still being made.

The seizure at FulLife is the second such enforcement action in
two months taken by FDA against dietary supplements being
promoted with drug claims to cure or treat diabetes and other
diseases or conditions.

They also seized an estimated $41,000 worth of inventory of
Glucobetic, Neuro-betic, Ocu-Comp, Atri-Oxi, Super-Flex,
MSM-1000, and Atri-E-400 capsules being promoted and distributed
by Charron Nutrition of Tallahassee, Fla., for use in treating
diabetes, arthritis, and other serious health conditions.

Whether products are cosmetic, medical or herbal, the best way to
avoid having product seized and losing money is to get labels and
marketing materials right the first time.

Poker online freeroll tournaments are a huge way to leverage a
player's way into major tournaments and to win big money at no

active players and to recruit new ones. Generally by playing a
number of hands using real money, invitations are extended to

Poker online freeroll tournaments are a huge way to leverage a
player's way into major tournaments and to win big money at no
cost to the player. Casinos and poker rooms offer them to reward
active players and to recruit new ones. Generally by playing a
number of hands using real money, invitations are extended to
play in tournaments at no risk. Players are also sometimes given
points based on their play that can be redeemed for cash entries
to the tournament of their choice.

It is always a good idea for players to review the poker room or
casino's policy for gaining free entries to these tournaments.
Sometimes by playing 50 to 100 hands, you can meet the
requirements or standards for being given a freeroll. Or by being
one of the top ranked real money players for the month, you can
receive an invitation. On occasion one can be given an entry
simply for being a member who plays with real money. The rewards
for entering such tournaments can be huge such as receiving a
seat to the World Series of Poker, World Poker Tour or other
major tournaments where the entry fees range from $10,000 to
$25,000. Others reward top finishers with real money cash and/or
satellite entry to other cash prize tournaments.

Choices expand greatly when using earned points with a particular
online poker room. Players accumulate these points mostly by
playing in raked cash games, multi-table tournaments and
tournaments that include a paid fee. These points, depending on
the poker room, can be redeemed for things such as actual cash or
prizes. They can also be the ticket for entering some of the most
prestigious poker tournaments on the Internet worth millions! As
these points are rewarded for each raked hand of play,
experienced players may want to focus on heads-up or shorthanded
games instead of the full-table games. This is because the pace
of these types of games are much faster and points can be
accumulated at a quicker rate. Also higher limit tables generally
play faster than smaller limit games that attract newer players
who may not wish to risk the larger amounts per hand. Plus the
single pot games over split pot should be a better choice for
accumulating points as the decision making is not as complex,
hence a speedier rate of play.

An experienced player should keep in mind that with so many
people getting into poker, the prize pools for online tournaments
often go into the six-figure range. And that it is worth it to
keep in mind how they can obtain greater options for freerolls
like what poker room to join with when considering where to play
poker. For beginning players the advantage in using freerolls
whenever offered or available is huge when starting out as it
gives additional leverage to the player's bankroll. Just keep in
mind, the more you play the more free entries that will be
offered to you.

OK...I was spilling over, outgrowing everything, the beautiful
bits hidden under mounds of muddle and it was time - past time
- to lose it! I thought about using dynamite to blast it away,
but that was too messy and probably illegal! I thought of
calling a small third world county and telling them I had more
than enough if they could use some extra - but that would
probably cause an international crisis. So I decided to do
it the hard way - one step at a time. Yes, it was time to
de-clutter my living room! And lest you think this a small
task, let me tell you that we are talking clutter with a
capital "C!"

I began by sorting through my stacks of books until I came to
a book on "How to De-Clutter Your Home," which had been hidden

under a book on streamlining your life and another on losing 5
pounds overnight. Armed with the book's list of suggested steps,

I sat on a stack of magazines and began to read.

1. Start with three boxes - one labeled "keep," one labeled
"trash," and another labeled "give away."

- Now right away we have a problem. If I could put all my stuff
into these three little boxes, I wouldn't HAVE a clutter
problem! So I got out my industrial-sized box of trash bags,
skipped the labels and with applause from my husband ( who
immediately ducked to miss the flying copy of "How to
Declutter Your Home" and fled a hasty retreat), I began to
   stuff.

2. If possible, move everything out of the room. Move back in
only the items you want to keep.

- When I called my husband to help, pointing to the next item
on the list from "How to Declutter Your Home," he dissolved
into gales of laughter and said, "You want to put what,
WHERE?" I muttered something about "where the sun don't
shine," handed him a hankie to wipe his eyes, picked up the
nearest pile and began to move.

3. If you are unsure about whether or not to keep items, put
them in a box for 6 months. If you still haven't opened the
box after six months, take it directly to a thrift store.

- Now THIS made sense - box up all my junk and put it in my
husband's space and let HIM deal with it! When my husband
realized - on my third trip to the garage - that I was moving
all my possessions, lock, stock, and silk flower arrangments
to live amongst the tools, "valuable stuff," and "they
don't
make 'em like that anymore" treasure in his space, he - well,

let's put it in a less explosive term - "freaked!" My copy
of
"How to Declutter Your Home" landed in my neighbor's yard
amongst the begonias, scaring the cat and causing every dog
in the neighborhood to begin a new game of "My bark is louder

   than your bark!"

It took two weeks, 10 trash bags, 9 boxes, two extra-large
pepperoni pizzas for my husband and the dogged determination of
yours truly, but I got a new, uncluttered and streamlined living

room. And the 50 pounds? More than 50 pounds of "irreplaceable
treasure" went to the thrift store or trash bin in the two weeks

of decluttering! So I am back to my old svelte self! Now, if
only I could get up enough courage to open that hall closet, I
might lose another 20!

Ask almost anyone on the street where "the happiest place on
earth" is, and they'll probably tell you it's Disney. But, a
behavioral research study titled "The Home Ecology of Flowers"
indicates that if you make it a point to live with flowers, you
might be able to answer that question with, "my house!"

The Home Ecology of Flower study was led by Nancy Etcoff, Ph.D.
Etcoff is a practicing psychologist at the Massachusetts General
Hospital Department of Psychiatry and a faculty member of the
Harvard Medical School and the Harvard University
Mind/Brain/Behavior Initiative. She teaches a class called "The
Science of Happiness."

The study involved 54 people in the age range of 25 to 60 years
old. The participants were asked to provide information about the
emotions they experienced, where they were at the time, whom they
were with, and what they were doing, and whether or not flowers
were present. Half of the 54 participants were given flowers to
place in their homes while they other half served as the control
group and received some other home dÃ(c)cor item. Researchers
took pictures of the participant's homes both before and after
the flowers were delivered to see if there were any changes in
how a room looked or was used.

After approximately one week of living with flowers or the
control item, participants rated their feelings for certain times
of the day. The results of the study showed that flowers had an
enormous impact on the emotions of people who lived with them.
Specifically, the study found that:
  * Flowers increase feelings of compassion. Participants who
received fresh flowers reported feeling more compassionate and
kind toward others.
  * Flowers decrease anxiety, worries, and feelings of sadness.
After having flowers in the house for just a few days,
participants indicated that, overall, they felt less negative.
  * Flowers increase energy, happiness, and enthusiasm in the
workplace. Even though the flowers were in the participants'
homes, they reported that they felt more positive at work as
well.

Though a trip to Disney would surely make most of us happy, we
can't stay there forever. However, we can make it a point to
live with flowers for the rest of our lives. Talk to your florist
about how you can use fresh flowers in your home everyday and
within your budget. Your florist will be able to help you choose
flowers that are in season to help reduce costs and assist you
with the perfect arrangements for the spaces in your home.

Angelina Jolie has become as well known for her efforts to make
the world a better place as she is for her movie roles. She's
done charitable work for many African countries. As such, she'd
probably be very happy to hear that one flower producer located
in Kenya has made the move to using environmentally friendly
geothermal energy to heat its greenhouses.

Oserian Flower Company is the largest flower producer in Kenya.
It's responsible for exporting approximately 400 million flowers
to Europe annually. With an operation that large, the cost of
supplying enough energy to keep the business running is enormous.
In Kenya, electricity costs about twelve cents per kilowatt hour,
but in more developed countries the cost is just two to five
cents per kilowatt hour. So, to help reduce costs, Oserian Flower
Company built its own geothermal power plant. Geothermal energy
is a sustainable energy that comes from wells dug into the
ground. The power plant is capable of providing over sixty
percent of the total power used by the company.

And, if reduced energy costs weren't enough, the heat the
geothermal power plant produces has added benefits, like
preventing fungal growth that can kill the valuable flowers being
grown there.

"The heating of the greenhouses reduces humidity from 100 to 80
percent, which in turn reduces the amount of chemical application
that would normally be sprayed on the crop to prevent fungal
diseases such as downy mildew and botrytis," says Managing
Director Ron Fasol.

In addition, the flowers Oserian grows are healthier due to the
geothermal energy used. The company points to the geothermal
energy as being responsible for a higher yield of flowers with
larger blooms, sturdier stems, more vibrant colors, and more
blooms. As an added bonus for the 5,000 employees of the company,
the use of fewer chemicals leads to a healthier place to work.

The cost for building the plant was approximately $10.5 million,
which was paid entirely out of private funds with no government
funding. It also didn't receive any charitable funding from
people like Angelina Jolie. Instead, the company used a mixture
of debt and equity to fund the project.

Jumpstart Your Success-And Keep It Jumping! 7 Great Questions to Move You From
Vision to Results

Tony came to me because he was stuck. Nan came because she was
drifting.

Both had desire, talent, and tried hard. But neither could pull
all the pieces together to create success. Each made progress,
then fell back; stuck again.

Why? They spent too much time and money trying to figure out HOW
to create success, and too little time taking action to create
real and lasting results.

Sound a bit like you?

Perhaps, like Tony and Nan, you ask the wrong questions first.

To jumpstart success, start with WHAT? And WHY?

HOW is important, but comes later, when "what" and "why" are
clear.

The seven questions below have helped thousands jumpstart
success, and keep it jumping. They can help you, too.

# 1: What Makes You Come Most Fully Alive?

What excites you? What energizes you at a deep level? What
truly matters?

Research on Harvard grads found that those who organized their
lives and work around their passions were MUCH more likely to
succeed (AND become millionaires) than those who focused on
making $1,000,000.

So what do YOU love? What are you passionate about?

Not sure? Try this.

Think about the best things you have done, or imagine you could
do. Write them down. Keep writing until you hit something that
makes you shiver with emotion.

Do not worry, yet, whether it is realistic, or doable. (We look
at reality in # 3.)

And do not confuse "lust" with "love." Most people do not love
money; they love what they can do or create with money. Write
about that, and keep writing until you hit something that makes
you feel like crying with joy.

Identifying true passions can open huge sources of power. It is
a major first step toward creating success.

# 2: If You Created It, What Would It Look Like?

Next, focus your passion into specific results.

Tony was passionate about skiing, but could not see how to build
a "respectable" career around it. Because he had a flare for
design, his father pushed him toward architecture, but that felt
"too mainstream."

When I helped Tony combine his skiing passion with his design
talent, he became a successful ski area designer. He made great
money, skied 5 days a week, and felt deeply fulfilled. Even his
father was impressed!

A wannabe writer like Nan might envision, "My recipe book about
organic hot dogs is #1 on the Amazon, Times, and Oprah bestseller
lists."

Making vision clear and compelling translates passion into
power.

# 3: What Is The Current State Of Your Result?

Imagine asking directions when you do not know where you are?

Not easy, is it?

To turn vision into a successful result, you need to know where
you are and what you have: strengths, assets, experience,
contacts, etc.

The key to knowing where you are is to "describe" reality, not
"judge" it.

If, like Nan, you know a lot about organic hot dogs, but have no
experience writing, do not judge: "I cannot write a book."

Describe: "I cannot write a book, YET."

Reality is your ally, not your enemy. Be honest about it. Truth
is power!

To ensure a statement is objective, ask, "Is this true?
Absolutely true?" If it is not true, it is a judgment.

Nan told me, "I have no skills." But, when we applied the test
questions, she saw that was untrue. When prompted, she was
shocked at how many she could list.

Current Reality also includes problems or obstacles, and fears,
doubts, and uncertainties. Acknowledge these, but do NOT dwell
on them.

Focus instead on what you want, what works, and what is already
in place.

Focusing on what you want and what you already have energizes
you. It makes you optimistic. It builds momentum that moves you
toward your results.

# 4: What Are Your "Next Steps"?

When you hold a compelling vision in mind with a clear
description of reality, a gap appears between them.

Accept the gap. Use the energy that arises out of it to build a
bridge from where you are to where you want to be with two kinds
of actions--strategies and tactics.

Strategies are large, often general action/results such as
develop "a marketing plan," or design "promo materials."

They include sub-results (a draft plan, rough promo materials)
that, when added together, lead to the larger result.

Strategies are essential guides to action. But, you do not do
strategies; you do tactics that support strategies.

# 5: How Do I Get To Small, Doable Actions?

Once your strategic steps are roughed out, ask, "What smaller
results and actions support my larger steps?"

Tactics are small steps such as, "research market," "clarify
offerings," and "develop a hook." Taken together, they yield "a
marketing plan."

Starting with small steps builds patterns of success. It gives
you confidence and momentum, which leads to larger steps.
Success leads to success.

You do not need to know all the steps, just your most promising
next 2, or 3.

Taking action changes reality. New steps become obvious. Take
them, note results, and ask again, "What are my next steps?"

This plan-as-you-go process honours vision AND reality. There is
no failure, just feedback. Your actions teach you what to do
next. Make up the path as you go.

# 6: What About Setbacks, Problems, And Adversity?

Successful people in all areas are those who deal best with
adversity. They turn obstacles into opportunity. How?

  * They see adversity as TEMPORARY. "This too will pass," they
say. They accept problems as part of reality, and move on by
focusing on desired results.

  * They take OWNERSHIP for their results, regardless of what
happens or who is to blame. Blame is for losers. Ownership is
key to success.

  * They see adversity as LIMITED to specific situations. They do
not let it, or feelings about it, bleed over into other areas of
life and work.

  * Successful people focus on what they can CONTROL, and take
appropriate action. They realize the wisdom in the old saying,
"We cannot control the wind, but we can adjust our sails."

By accepting adversity and focusing on results, successes use
problems and setbacks as "creative moments". They re-establish
the vision-reality gap, learn from their situation, and take
action toward results.

# 7: How Do I Know When I'm Done?

A clear vision includes success criteria. Our writer who wants
to be on the bestseller lists will know she has succeeded when
she achieves those goals.

Some people set financial criteria. Some set quality criteria.
Others set both. For many it is just a deep sense that, "this is
it--reality matches my vision.

Celebrate success, and use the energy of completion to start your
next creation.

By asking these 7 questions, Tony and Nan jumpstarted success-and
kept it jumping. You can do the same. The key is to ask and
keep asking them.

Start small, stick with it, and remember-success leads to
success.
