================== ARTICLE START ==================
In this fast-paced world, more and more people are now
considering starting an internet-based business right at the
comforts of their own homes.

Whoever or wherever you are, it is now possible to do business
with anyone around the world. Anyone with a computer with an
internet connection can start a home-based online business or
e-business. The recent success of e-commerce and online
retailing has made the internet a huge market place. Everyday,
more and more people are now buying various kinds of products
and services online, 24 hours a day.

This technology is available for anyone. Whether you are a
student who wants to make an extra bucks or a full-time mom who
cannot leave the house to work elsewhere, this kind of business
is right for you.

However, before you start a home-based online business, you
should first decide what kind of e-business you want and how
much money you will be willing to invest.

Here are some tips you should consider before starting a
home-based e-business.

There are many home-based e-business ideas you can explore. It
all depends how much time and money you are willing to spend.
The key to start a home-based e-business is to start small and
invest as little money as possible.

Selling information is one such idea. It cost little or no
money to prepare into an e-product and sell it.

Advantages when selling information or e-products includes:

• No products to stock since you are selling software-based
products
• No warehouse
• No office space
• No employees
• No merchant accounts
• No shipping
• You do not need to open your store everyday

Selling information or e-products virtually takes care of its
own. All you need is a website where you will sell your
e-products. Your e-product can be in the form of e-books that
can be instantly downloaded by people for a fee, or can be in
the form of membership based website where you set-up a
protected directory with your HTML pages on it.

Another form of home-based e-business is selling your skills.
For example, you might be a programmer; you can sell your
knowledge in programming or develop your own program and sell
it online.

Freelance positions are also a profitable home-based business.
If you are good at writing or web design, you can offer your
services to websites seeking design or content. This type of
business can be quite profitable once you have developed a
client base.

Another kind of home-based e-business is the affiliate
programs. Companies sell their products use affiliate programs.
This works by posting a link of the company’s products in your
website. You earn a commission when a customer clicks on that
link and buys the product.

To get started making money with affiliate programs, find a
subject you are interested in, like digital cameras. Then you
have to start a website about the subject. After the website is
up and running, you have to find companies that sells this
product and register to be an affiliate. The company then gives
you some code to paste in your website to make a link. You can
use either text codes or pictures for this. However, text code
is usually more effective for converting to sales.

These are just a few examples of home-based online business.
Opportunities are virtually limitless for home-based
e-business. All it takes is hard work, and a little luck.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is a business
philosophy, not just a technology - understanding your
customers' needs enables you to build better relationships and
increase sales. Using the philosophy of CRM helps "to get and
to keep more customers who stay with you longer".

Although a sound customer relationship management strategy has
to come first, it can be effectively supported by CRM software.

The benefits of software?

Excellent customer service is about being aware of customer
needs and reacting to them effectively.

CRM technology helps you to understand, anticipate and respond
to your customers' needs in a consistent way, right across your
organization because it provides you with management
information. It has been said that the creation, distribution
and manipulation of information is all that management is about
and it is certainly true that without information about what is
going on, when, by whom, with what, at what cost, at what
margin etc. a business will almost certainly fail.

CRM technology also needs to be integrated into the business
process. Organizations can only benefit from the discipline CRM
imposes if it is.

As the management at Customer FOCUS have noted: "Changing your
system means you are leaving behind something that everyone is
comfortable and familiar with. Replacing it with a modern
business operation & management system such as Customer FOCUS,
is like getting out from behind the wheel of your familiar old
Ford Mondeo with the worn leather seats and jumping into the
cockpit of a Boeing 747. When installing a CRM system the right
combination of critical factors need to come together at the
right time. If they do your project will be a success and your
business will take off to new heights. If certain critical
elements are ignored by you or not given enough importance, you
could find your project resembling a smoking crater!"

How does a CRM system help?

CRM will help your business if you view it as a set of tools
that let you to do more for, and get more from, your customers.
CRM can help you with:

1. Operational efficiency - to be more productive. All
businesses need to make their existing resources more
productive, improve quality and service. Indeed surveys suggest
that, for example, sales people spend as little as 10% of their
time actually selling.

2. Customer responsiveness - to meet demanding customer's
increasing demands. Customers are becoming used to shopping and
interacting with businesses over the Internet and email and they
expect instant responses and rapid, personalized service.

3. Cost containment - to do more with fewer resources.
Continually evolve to keep pace with change and competition and
make sure the investments you make today support you tomorrow,
without the costs of 'elephant' upgrades.

A good system, like Customer FOCUS, also provides:

1. One system for all tasks. No separate spreadsheets,
databases and different software packages that you can access
from anywhere - work from home, remote sites or even customer
sites in your live business system.

2. The information you want when you want it. For example the
identification of target customers or prospects in minutes
delivered in your own report design as print or spreadsheets
that are automatically e-mailed to you and / or your chosen
colleagues.

3. Contact & quotation Information on all prospects and clients
- enable your sales team to use to reduce the time they spend on
admin and increase the information available to other areas of
the business. Proposals can be generated in minutes and then
stored and referenced by probability, value, margin or date.

4. Electronic integration - produce everything from quotes to
statements as e-mails direct from the desktop. Link with
Microsoft Office, Outlook, the Internet and your XDA to ensure
you gain the full benefit of other packages on or off site.

5. A fully customisable system. Your own customer, prospect,
supplier, product & service and staff databases, diary,
planner, quotations, enquiries, sales order, despatch and
invoice, manufacturing, purchase, receipts, projects and job
costing, CRM operations, service and support, marketing
planning and execution, general ledger and accounts all in your
own language as all wording & drop down menus can be easily
customised to suit your business and industry.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
With the rise in the growing economy there has been increase in
the development of the infrastructure. For this construction
work has been on rise, which have led to the demand of
construction equipment. Construction equipments are of various
types and serve different purposes.

Heavy construction equipment include bulldozers & track
loaders, rubber tire loaders, cable cranes, hydraulic cranes,
stationary cranes, graders scrapers & rollers, paving
equipment, rock crushers, screeners & washers, trenching
equipment, etc. There has been technical advancement also in
the attachments and part required for the construction
equipment. Three are various types of buckets, blades, couplers
cutters, forks, grips, hammers and shovels.

There has been a growth in companies opting for rental
construction equipment or leasing them. The main reason behind
this is lower capital investment and lower maintenance.
Moreover, good construction equipment is available at great
bargain prices. This construction equipment give good
productivity paralleled to new equipment. Also the smaller
fleet ar able to squeeze out construction equipment.

Apart from purchase, leasing and rental of the construction
equipment, there are also security issues attached to them.
These days companies and constructors are much worried about
securing their construction equipment. Since construction
equipment do not have any tracking number on them thus recovery
of any stolen construction equipment is very difficult. Most of
the time the construction equipment is recovered several
kilometers away from the construction site. But recovery of
equipment is very difficult. Thus a new system of putting the
tracking number has been put into effect. Earlier, for security
purposes companies used to tie up the construction equipment
with chains and padlocks but of late these have been proved to
be inefficient.

Now-a-days construction companies are asking the manufacturers
to instill laser-cut identification labels with key
identification numbers. These key numbers would prove to be the
tracking number just like engine number and chassis numbers in
automobiles. A proposition of seventeen-digit global numbering
system has been put forward in the construction industry to
prevent stealing of construction equipment. This would ensure
recapturing of stolen construction as well prevention of
shipment of stolen construction equipment to other neighboring
countries.

Advancement in the construction industry has led to development
of operator comfort--air-conditioned cabs, steering wheels that
can be tilted and devices to prevent noise pollution. Producers
are featuring global positioning satellite technology for
improved surveying and for use in driver-less trucks operating
on a fixed route.

Increase or decrease in the construction sector directly
affects the sale or purchase of the construction equipment. If
the economy of the country is growing at a healthy pace, it
leads to development of new projects as well as upgrading the
older ones. All this requires construction equipment either to
be purchased or leased by the construction companies. Further,
an association for the inspection and certification of used
construction equipment has been formed. This has been done to
promote online sales of used heavy construction equipment. This
is required by the companies taking up projects at various
locations in the foreign land.

Home businesses can be expensive, but there are businesses that
don't cost much to start as well. Here are a few ideas.

One inexpensive way to start a home business is to set up a
website. The site can be used to sell a product or to give
information. With an information site, you can make money by
joining an affiliate program. Setting up a website can cost
well under $100, and can even be free, but you will spend a lot
of time marketing your site. If you know nothing about internet
marketing, there are websites and books that can help.

Another home business idea on a budget is selling at online
auctions. If you start small, the cost in both time and dollars
is minimal. Begin with items you don't want around your house
anymore, or buy a few items at garage sales. Sell a product you
make if that appeals to you. Eventually you can connect with a
wholesaler, possibly one who will dropship items. This takes
away all the work of wrapping and shipping your products.

If you have typing skills, offer them to local businesses.
Often there is a need, and businesses can get it cheaper paying
you by the job rather than hiring an employee and paying
benefits.

Consider tutoring on a subject you know well. This can be an
academic subject or a creative subject, such as music. If you
do this in your home you will have very little, if any, startup
costs.

Think of what you know and like to do best. Then find a way to
offer these services or information to the public. Find a home
business idea on your budget and start doing what you want to
do.

will be too late.
People keep asking me for easy work from home ideas, so I have
decided to gather some of the high income business
opportunities. It hasn't been an easy task because of the
variety of different business opportunities from home.

marketing is simply connecting between sellers and buyers of
online products. I personally know people who are making huge
money using simple affiliate marketing techniques.

programming task available. You should know basic computer
programming and have creative ideas. Just start playing with
one of the website designing software programs and then offer
your services to little businesses.

3. Content writing - Unique content is the online king. People
all over the world write blogs or unique content sites, place
google adsense in them and make money while they sleep.
Certainly one of the easy work from home ideas.

4. Herbalife work at home - Herbalife is the leading MLM
community and herbalife marketers make lots of money selling
herbalife health nutrition products from home.

5. Filling online surveys - Maybe the easy home business
opportunity is just filling online surveys about any subject
and making money out of it.

6. Selling product on EBay - Millions of people make money on
EBay selling and buying products. Selling anything on EBay is a
worthy and easy work from idea.

7. Trading domains - Locating free or expanding good domains,
buying them in low cost and selling them on online auctions
could be a great easy home business opportunity.

8. Stocks and commodities trading - Anyone can be a trader
today. All data is available online. Just start trading with
small amount and learn methods like technical analysis.

9. Online casinos - I am not sure business opportunities from
home is a right definition for online casinos but the fact is
that online expert gamblers have made millions.

10. Other online services - The possibilities are endless. Just

There is a tool available for making money which is so powerful
that you'll never find a successful entrepreneur without one.
This tool is inexpensive, available everywhere, and you
probably already have one you aren't using. I'm speaking, of
course, about the humble notepad.

If you think I'm exaggerating the importance of this little
item, visit an office supply store. Take a look at the
notebooks and notepads they have for sale. There will be two
basic types in various sizes: simple paperback notebooks for
students and elaborate vinyl or leather versions for
businessmen. Next, ask yourself this question: Who would buy a
$79 leather-bound journal when there is a perfectly good $1.29
notebook not three feet away?

Someone with money to spend. Someone who considers it to be
very important.

You should take recording your thoughts seriously too. When you
have an idea that might make money, write it down -- period. No
matter how busy you may be, no matter who you are talking to,
scribble out 5-10 words and put the pad away. Don't be
embarrassed. If anything you will appear more professional and
go up a notch in the eyes of your peers.

Even ideas that seem completely out of reach should be
recorded. How many times have you had a conversation with
friends that included "Wouldn't it be great if somebody came up
with an [insert great idea]?" Well, someone just came up with
it. The fact that you aren't a software programmer doesn't mean
you can't have a great idea for a program. Pretend that you have
a dedicated staff of writers, designers, and engineers at your
disposal -- because some day you might; and if that day comes
the handful of words you stashed away will become a goldmine.
There are big ideas and small ideas, use the ones you can and
keep the rest for later.

Thanks to the Internet you are not limited to pen and paper.
Use the notepad utility in your phone or PDA if it has one, and
place a text file on your Windows desktop that you can use for
quick notes. Another useful method is to create a special
folder in your inbox for notes. Set your email software to put
all messages in it that have subjects starting with "Idea:".
Anytime you have a flash of inspiration all you have to do is
email yourself and your thoughts get neatly collected in one
place. This has the added advantage of making it easy to search
through your notes with your mail client's "Find" feature.

The utility of a notepad is determined entirely by the
discipline with which you use it. Most people are bubbling over
with ideas that last only a whimsical moment or two and then are
forgotten. Don't let yours slip away, instead keep them close
and they will become an invaluable part of your long-term
success.

What would you do with……

• An extra $200each month? Pay a bill?
• An extra $500 each month? Pay cash (instead of credit!) for
things you have been wanting?
• $ 1,000??? Now you can dream a little here……

This kind of extra “fun money” is definitely within your reach!

You can make these amounts each and every month right where you
are sitting now, in your own home. All that is required is to
fill out simple, quick, Paid Online Surveys.

You have no doubt filled out some sort of survey before. Did
you get paid for it though? Take another look at dollar figures
above.

So think about it, filling out paid online surveys at home, on
your own computer. You do the surveys YOU choose, do them when
you want to. No boss and no deadlines.

The paid survey company we work with are currently paying
between:

• $10 and $95 per online survey! (Up to $95 /hr. !)
• $25 to $75 per hour to shop, eat, or see a movie !
• $10 to $35 per hour just to drive your car!

The obvious question is ….Why would some company pay me to do
these things????

- It costs companies a small fortune to develop, launch, and
advertise new products! If they hire people (employees) to test
the products or try them out, the results are not always
reliable and unbiased.

- Gathering YOUR valued opinions and paying you, even at the
rates above, are just what these companies want. They can reach
many different types (all ages, sexes, etc.) of consumers
faster. For them it is all about direct access.

Is there a catch?

NO! These are legitimate businesses that need to know what you
honestly think about their product before they go into large
scale production and distribution. They need consumers opinions
in order to make informed marketing and advertising decisions
They are more than happy to pay for this service.

There is no free lunch! You will have to work, but how hard is
completely up to you. Most surveys take 20 minutes, some a
little longer, but they pay you for it too.

A few tips as you continue on….

• You could get your name enlisted in as many companies as
possible. This will take some research in order to find the
best ones with decent paying surveys. There are many to sift
through, we did the same thing.

• Or you can make your life easier and look to an organization
that has a database of 250 to 450 companies in their network
that offer paid online surveys.

• Registration in an organization like this will carry a
minimal cost of $25 to $35, but you benefit from the quick
access, ongoing support, updates, and bonuses.

• We recommend you register, then choose the companies whose
surveys appeal to you, and register with them individually.

• No further payment is required at this point, and in a flash
you will be receiving surveys in your inbox!

Avoiding scams…..

• Unfortunately, there are paid survey companies that are
unreliable, have no customer support, and just collect fees
from ambitious newcomers.

• Learn to recognize these paid survey scam sites. These are
full of outdated directories, lame resources, useless phone
numbers, and dead-end email addresses.

• One sure sign of a rip-off is the lack of any guarantee
whatsoever.

After extensive research, there is one paid survey company that
we found, and highly recommend. They offer an unconditional, 60
day, money back guarantee. They have outstanding customer
service and support. They are constantly updating their survey
database and offer a special $25 sign up survey for new
members! They offer the best resources for making real money
doing paid surveys online!

The field of Human Behavior Organization emphasizes the
importance of human resources in any business organization. The
business filed offers too much focus on manpower development for
it is the lifeblood of an existing industry.

This consideration provided several honchos in trade enterprise
to create spin off departments to cater on different structural
framework of human resource management development. Some of the
most generic or common filed are the one below:

• Human Resources Careers
• Human Resources Certification
• Human Resources Consulting
• Human Resources Law
• Human Resources Management
• Human Resources Outsourcing
• Human Resources Program
• Human Resources Software
• Human Resources Studies

Human Resources Careers

The new millennium recognizes the importance of human resources
personnel in their contribution to supplying the best manpower
supply in a thriving industry.

Organizations in the business world rely on Human Resources
management teams in overseeing business functions such as
hiring, training, conducting interviews, relaying of
company-related business trends and issues and employees’
benefits and the like.

Individuals who work inside this type of industry are tasked to
making sure that the provided workforce are adept in their
respective business roles and are able to function optimally
under any condition.

This type of thinking is oriented among professionals whose
function are those of above. They keep the company they are
working with able to stay on top despite of existing
competition against companies who competes with the same
product or services a certain company is caters for.

Human Resources Certification

The field of Human Resources Industry evolved into creating a
body of professionals or individual industries that take care
of providing reliable certification activities whose purpose is
to provide, attest and authenticate suitable capabilities among
professionals in this field.

Human Resources Certification board’s certifying examinations
are guided and are guided by core values and principles which
an individual aspiring to be part of such industry should pass
in order to gain the desired testament of ability.

Human Resources Management and Human Resources Consulting

Management and consulting groups take on the function of most
of the above jobs typical of an HR staff member.

They work hiring the best professionals in the field as
demanded by a corporate client. They make sure that these
individuals are retained and that their continued career
development is ensured.

Tailoring benefit plans is also one of Human Resources
Consulting firms’ structured course of function. They regularly
check medical health benefit plans that is beneficial for the
company without sacrificing the overall quality of health
premium option features given to employees.

This department is also in charge of regular relay of company
policies to each employees and making sure that satisfactory
conformation is met. It is also their task to remind erring
employee of regulations that are intentionally or accidentally
infracted and make the necessary adjustment as well.

Human Resources Outsourcing

Outsourcing job functions, or taking internal business
functions to business industries via another firms or overseas
proved to be more cost effective than having a single Human
Resources team handle all job at hand.

The study conducted by The Society of Human Resources
Management (SHRM) provided conclusive evidence of how
outsourcing human resources personnel and various HR functions
could cut average company cost on HR spending and free them
from other legal risk.

This type of initiative also gives core HR professionals the
chance to focus on a more important HR functions and company
goals.

Human Resources Program, Human Resources Studies and Human
Resources Software

If Human Resources Management is the lifeblood of various
Business Industries, Human Resources Programs on the other hand
is the lifeblood of Human Resources Management.

HR is less capable of ensuring that its tasks and objectives
are met without following a program at hand. Programs are
effective when they bring results to the organization.

An independent HR Consulting industry study in Missouri
explains how HR programs help professionals in this field in
realigning HR policies to that of the company they are working
for.

These programs are carried out to effectively implement job
functions and seek on ways to improve them. Compensations,
health benefits, relaying company regulations and management,
staffing and culture change is communicated through designed
programs.

Being an organization itself, Human Resources management and
policies are directed by programs and these programs are
expected to produce results, otherwise they are discarded.

As most of us know there are thousands of affiliate programs on
the internet selling all sort of different things. It is a great
way for sellers to market their wares, just get affiliates to
sell for you and pay them a commission, usually anything from
20% to 50% of the asking price.

It is also a great way for people looking to make money online.
Just become affiliates. Becoming an affiliate is usually free
and easy to get started and in a lot of cases there is help
given by the sellers and of course each seller looks attractive
and in a lot of cases we are told "we are the best"...".we have
the highest conversion rates" and any other "advise " that
encourages us to affiliate with them and not their competitors.

The fact is though that a lot of products from sellers are just
not up to standard of making money for us,the affiliates;sure we
get a sale here and there ,but to be a successful affiliate we
need a lot of sales.

For the person looking to become an affiliate for the first
time and indeed for those of us that are not as successful as
we first thought we might be, it can be a real challenge
selecting
the person or company to affiliate with.We must look for
honesty,do they pay on a regular basis?,does their product sell
well?Do they have good coversion rates? What is their
cancellation rate?and most importantly,what percentage
commission do they pay? those are probably the most important
details we should know at the outset of our investigations.

There is a website www.bestmoneymakersonline.com.. where a lot
of thought and research has gone into telling us some of the
affiliate sites that ...without any doubt ..do what they say
they do. Each and everyone of them are hugh moneymakers in
there own right. On looking at the site we will find that most
of them are from the most successful operators online
today.Operators that as sellers are making millions per year
and the affiliates are in a lot of cases making thousands per
month.

If you want to make a little extra money per week. If you want
to make a lot of money per week or if you want to become a very
successful affiliate making thousands per month this website is
a good place to begin. It is not a big flashing or noisy site
..but it IS one of the best I have seen for straight talking
advise that we as affiliates need whether we are just starting
out or whether we are older hands that are not making the
success we thought we might. To be a success we MUST get with
the STRENGTH...we MUST affiliate with the programs that... DO
WHAT THEY SAY THEY DO.

Thank you for reading this article,I hope you have gained some
information that allows you to become successful in this
potentially lucrative and easy to operate business.

About The Author: My name is Ken Saint,I have seen the highs
and lows of affiliate marketing online for over 5 years. I know
from experience the way to start and succeed is to get with the
strength right at the outset, get with those that do what they

If you want to share in the riches of America's wealthiest
citizens, it may be an excellent financial policy to buy shares
in the companies that cater to society's upper income tier,
Citigroup Smith Barney suggests.

The brokerage firm gave this advice based on findings showing
that the richest of the rich, who earn an average $302,000
(U.S.) or more per year, take up a disproportionately large
piece of the money pie. Statistics from the 2004 Survey of
Consumer Finances reveal that the richest 10 per cent of
Americans make 43 per cent of earned income and own 57 per cent
of U.S. net worth. By contrast, the poorest 40 per cent make
only 10 per cent of the nation's total income.

“The rich are in great shape, financially,” Citigroup analyst
Ajay Kapur declared in a recent report, noting that the
net-worth-to-income ratio for the richest 10 per cent of
Americans rose to 8.4 in 2004 from 7.4 in 2001. “Furthermore,
if the rich will be getting even richer in the coming years,
this bodes extremely well for businesses selling to or
servicing the rich, be it for example luxury goods, stocks or
private banks.”

To take advantage of this fact, the brokerage firm recommends
to its clients that they invest in shares of companies that
sell luxury items to the rich. For example, France's VMH Moet
Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA, a luxury goods retailer whose lines
include Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, and Givenchy, is one of
Citigroup's top picks among luxury companies. The other is
Swiss-based Compagnie Financiere Richemont AG, a retailer of
luxury watches, jewelry, and gold and silver writing sets.

The Citigroup report claimed that over the last two decades,
the rich have become the dominant drivers of income, wealth and
high-ticket consumer spending in countries such as America,
Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

A number of factors are behind this trend, including a rising
company profits, the high growth in assets, tax concessions by
market-friendly governments, and improved productivity. In
countries where these conditions prevail, the extremely wealthy
have prospered, the report noted, whereas in nations such as
France, Japan, and the Netherlands, official egalitarianism has
kept the rich from becoming much richer during the same period.
As long as neoconservative policies continue to hold sway, the
world's capitalists will become wealthier yet in the coming
years, as they continue to benefit from globalization and the
increase in productivity.

Globalization and increased productivity improve the finances
of top corporate executives and the lawyers and bankers who
serve them. Other people in the top income tier are sport stars
such as golf, football, and baseball players, music and
entertainment icons, and fashion models, designers and
celebrity chefs.

Citigroup concludes that the huge divide between income and
wealth “helps explain some of the conundrums that vex so many
equity investors, such as why high oil prices haven't slowed
the global economy, why consumer confidence might be low yet
consumption remains robust in the U.S., why savings rates are
low, and why the dollar depreciation hasn't done much for the
U.S. trade deficit.” These concerns may vex the average income
earner, but these people are not driving the retail market for
luxury goods.

Although the wealthy are few in actual number, their purchases
amount to a disproportionately large amount of all consumer
spending, Citigroup said. And because this small demographic
group is growing steadily richer, “they are happy to keep
consuming.” For example, middle-to-lower income Americans, who
have a relatively larger share of their assets invested in
their homes, are more influenced by a housing slowdown than the
wealthy, who have a lesser percentage tied up. And since the
wealthy are not influenced by factors such as high oil prices,
weak consumer sentiment, or current account deficits, the risk
attributed to stocks by equity investors may be overly high,
Citigroup said.

As a result of its findings, Citigroup recommends investors
purchase stocks in a basket of luxury companies, including
Zurich-based private bank Julius Baer & Co. Ltd., jewelry
seller Tiffany & Co., and Porsche AG, which features expensive
sports cars.

Halogen lights have become popular as an overhead projector
light. These projector bulbs provide high-intensity light that
gives the presentation better lighting and dimming that ensure
positive image precision. Here are the characteristics of the
projector bulbs that you should consider in purchasing one. The
projector bulb comes in many design, brand names, model, wattage
and voltage. To identify whether the projector bulbs would fit
your projector equipment, make sure learn your projector bulbs
before purchasing. These bulbs have been used in:

- Business presentations
- School reporting
- Home-based cinema

1. Type and Shape

Check the base and note its type and shape. Make sure you know
what the brand and model number of the projector bulbs for your
projector - they should be listed in the user manual. If you
happen to have lost your user manual, try the company website -
they likely offer for download the user manuals that you can
print off. This would ensure you don't go to the store and end
up coming back with an incompatable bulb. If you are not aware
of the brand, describe the shape of the projector bulbs base to
the attendant at the light store. You could specify by telling
the assistant about the shape of the bulb itself.

2. Size Matters

The size of the glass bulb is important. Basically, projector
bulbs differ in the sizes of the bulbs' envelope or casing. The
size of the projector bulbs would distinguish your bulb purchase
if it is a foreign brand, if your projector is used in movie
projectors or for slide show projector alone.

3. Knowing Is Half The Battle

The tungsten filament is a wire that reacts to the heat that
occurs when the lamp is turned on. The shape of the filament
would help you ask for the exact model or projector bulbs.
Since each model makes use of varieties of wires and places the
wire in different locations on the bulb, it would be easier for
you to break down your choices for your projector bulbs’
purchase.

4. The voltage and wattage

These items determine the overall output of the projector
bulbs. The projector bulb that gives out brighter light does
not necessarily mean that the wattage is higher than the bulb
that produces a dimmer light. Make sure that you are aware of
the consuming voltage and wattage of your projector bulbs.

Note:

All of the bulbs that are purchased for projectors are coded
into three letters (e.g. ELH, DEK). These letters are assigned
to all models that have the same filament reactivity, wattage
and voltage. Since the material of the glass base does not have
anything to do with the codes, you could choose your own style
and could still purchase the exact bulb needed. These codes
have no connection with the brand of the projector bulbs. This
is done because choosing the perfect projector bulbs is vital
in the handling of the projector, the bulb manufacturers follow
a coding for their costumers to purchase easily and avoid
confusion. Knowing this three letter code would be an advantage
for you and the assistant at the store.

- It is advisable to purchase a lower-powered projector bulb
- Bulbs last up to 2,000 to 4,000 hours, depending on the usage
amount of the projector
- Projector bulbs are made up of halogen lights

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Q: Tim, I have spent the past few months trying so hard to
start an ecommerce business. I have read virtually everything
you have written. I have listened in on more than one of your
teleconferences.

I have clicked and spent and clicked and spent and clicked and
spent. I filled the laundry basket and sold on eBay. I became a
Clickbank affiliate (I think I am an affiliate of almost the
entire Internet).

I know that it's ironic that I want to make money on the
Internet considering I have not one drop of technical skill in
my body, but I am a single mom: bottom line is my kids NEED
me... and I really and truly am relentless when it comes to
getting what I want (in other words, what I lack in technical
skills I make up for in persistence.)

Please, please, please...just give me one word or sign or
anything...that this CAN be done by the little people (such as
myself). Otherwise, I will return to my 5am job that exhausts
me so much, I can't even tell my children apart anymore (which
isn't flattering to a daughter and son who are almost 5 years
apart in age!).

This Internet thing is kicking my butt and from what I have
studied, you are the "Dr. Phil" of the ecommerce wannabes,
successes and everything in between. (Please don't be offended
by the comparison with Dr. Phil....I merely use this in the
most pop-culture way possible).

I swear, I am ready to sacrifice my PC in the backyard firepit
and return to my old typewriter: that is how frustrated I am.

Thanks for letting me vent (must be an estrogen thing).

-- Mary (real name withheld)

A: Hi Mary, The first thing you need to do is close your eyes,
take a deep breath and let it out slowly.

(repeat as necessary :o).

First, let me say that I understand your frustration, but it
has been my experience that most people in your situation
(including yours truly when I was first starting out) create
much of their own frustration because they put themselves under
too much pressure to succeed quickly. Their situation is not a
happy one and they want to change it TODAY. When that doesn't
happen, frustration and anger can set in.

Everyone wants to hit home runs the first time at bat. They
want big money and they want it fast. When results don't come
as quickly as they think they should, they say, "This Internet
thing doesn't work and those who claim to make money are
scammers!"

I have been an Internet marketer for 3 years now. The first
year I did miserably. I lost about $5,000 trying to figure it
all out on my own. One day it occurred to me that succeeding
would be much easier if I knew what the heck I was doing.

You see, I, like so many others, didn't take the time to
educate myself on Internet marketing. I saw others making money
online and figured if they could do it, I could, too.

I just found the crowded pool and dove in head first. As you
expect, I almost drowned because I had not taken the time to
learn how to swim. Heck, I couldn't even float...

So I stopped what I was doing and became a student instead of a
practitioner. I discovered that I was making every mistake in
the book because I had not taken the time to learn what to do,
and more importantly, what not to do.

After losing a ton of cash, time, and sleep, it finally started
to make sense.

I remember finally making $100 profit from eBay in one week for
sales of my own ebook (CD Money Machine).

I had made hundreds of thousands of dollars in other ventures,
but that $100 was the hardest money I had ever made. That's why
it meant so much to me. It told me that FINALLY I was doing
something right.

I took that $100 and plowed it into more auction listings and
just kept repeating the process.

Then I moved beyond eBay to my own website.

Then I started to concentrate on developing more products,
creating my own affiliate program, pursuing more joint
ventures, expanding my marketing campaigns.

Success came to me, BUT ONLY AFTER I stopped doing everything
wrong and learned to do a few things right.

Like so many people before me and like so many of you now
reading these words, I wasted a year of my life and thousands
of dollars because I did not take the time to learn first, then
do.

I had unrealistic expectations of myself and the business. I
expected big bucks and fast results and when they did not come,
I looked for someone other than myself to blame.

It took me taking a step back and reassessing my entire
thinking to finally learn how to succeed.

And I succeeded in baby steps, not giant leaps.

There were no home runs.

There were a lot of foul balls and finally base hits.

That's how you succeed.

Here's the bottomline:

There is no such thing as a real get-rich-quick opportunity. If
someone tells you that you can start with no money and no
experience and make hundreds of thousands of dollars overnight
they are lying to you and you are a fool for believing them.
Yes, you can make lots of money in a short period of time as an
Internet marketer, but you're not going to get rich this week
unless you hit the lottery or your rich uncle dies. And you
have a better chance of getting hit by lightning than either of
those things happening. Be realistic, be smart, be logical. If
it sounds too good to be true, it is. An Internet business is
no different from a brick and mortar business: both take hard
work, dedication, perseverance, and an investment of time and
money. Just because your business is "virtual" that does not
mean that you don't have to put some time and effort into
launching, building, and running it. Yes, there are many things
you can do to automate the process, but you have to build the
business before expecting it to run on autopilot. You must have
patience, realistic expectations, and the ability to keep
plugging along even if you are not getting the results you
expected at first. The problem with we humans is that we are an
impatient species. We expect our grand ideas to play out quickly
and effortlessly. We expect things to happen at lightspeed. We
are a microwave society: nothing happens fast enough for us. In
business, nothing happens quickly. Until you understand that,
you will drive yourself to failure every time. You will start
ventures and quickly abandon them. You will grow frustrated and
you will fail. This is the biggest lesson you can learn here, so
read this several times and ask yourself: Is he talking to me?
When someone is unhappy with their current situation they are
prone to desperation, which leads to unrealistic expectations,
which leads to failure, which leads to anger, which leads to a
dead end.

I know because I hear from them all the time. I receive emails
like:

"Tim I'm broke and in debt and if I don't make $1,000 by Friday
they will take my house! Tell me what to do! You are my last
hope..."

And...

"Tim, if you don't tell me how to make $500 today my wife is
going to leave me. You have to save my marriage..."

These are not made up statements. I am not trying to be funny.

These are actual quotes from emails I've received. And I receive
hundreds like this every month.

There is nothing I can say to these people (other than "I'll
mail you a check") that will make them feel better about
themselves and their situation.

When I reply with the truth, that I am not their salvation and
they need to study and work a plan of action, often these same
people reply with hate mail.

If I don't tell them what they expect to hear or offer to solve
their problems I am the villain. I become the target of their
venting. And that's fine. They have to blame someone if they
aren't willing to take responsibility for their own lives.

The difference between you and these people, Mary, is you are
really trying.

You're learning and practicing and testing and TAKING ACTION.

That puts you in the 1% of people who actually have a chance to
make it.

You tell me the things you've done, but you don't tell me
anything about your results.

Have any of your efforts paid off, even in small ways?

Large success is built upon a foundation of many small
successes.

Have you taken the time to actually learn about Internet
marketing, affiliate programs, pay per click, etc.?

It's one thing to signup with a bunch of affiliate programs. It
is another thing entirely to know what you should do after you
sign up.

Other than listening to me and other so called gurus, what have
you done to educate yourself on the Internet marketing business?

What books have you read? What websites have you visited? What
forums have you been to?

Education is the first step.

I'll say it again: you must learn to swim before diving in the
big pond or you will drown.

No one is going to throw you a life jacket.

No one is even going to notice that you're drowning.

It's sad, but it is entirely true; you are on your own.

Here is my best advice for you: Stop trying to make money until
you learn all you can about the Internet marketing industry.

Read books, study the successful marketers, do a Google search
for 'Internet marketing forums' and spend time reading what
others have posted. You will find people in those forums who
have been there, done that. Post questions, ask for advice,
join the community. You will find kindred spirits and people
more than happy to help you learn and grow.

Finally, if technical ability was a prerequisite for Internet
success 99% of the so called big dogs (this pup included) would
be back working day jobs.

The key to Internet success is not technical, it is mental.

You can hire someone to write an ebook or hack together
programming code for you, but you can't hire someone to do your
thinking for you.

Success is about having a plan of action and working it through
to the end.

It is about learning to effectively market your products.

Remember, you can have the greatest product in the world, but
if you lack the ability to market it, no one will ever know.

On the other hand, you can have a horrible product, but if you
are a master marketer you will sell a ton.

Ever heard of Microsoft?

It's easy to find products to sell. The key lies in having the
ability to market them, and that is a skill that must be
learned before you do anything else.

Don't give up on your dreams, just slow down.

Stop putting so much pressure on yourself.

If you don't make a million dollars by Friday guess what: life
goes on. Your kids will still love you, even if you can't tell
them apart.

Set goals in baby steps, not giant leaps.

Think long term success, not short term efforts.

Instead of getting frustrated with yourself, pat yourself on
the back and say "Dang girl, you are taking action... You are
doing things to give your kids a better life!"

Did that sound like Dr. Phil?

I have more hair, he has more money. :o)

Keep the faith and don't give up.

Ah, the garage sale! That little slice of suburbia that ties
communities together, brings friends and neighbours to your
doorstep, and helps your turn the cast off flotsam of bygone
years into money in your pocket. These familiar scenes of
summertime are a great way for people to buy the stuff they
need at a fraction of the retail cost.

Similarly, garage sales are a great way to get rid of stuff
that you no longer use or need. A garage sale is a favourite of
collectors, bargain hunters, and the random passer-by with an
idea of seeing what there is to buy at low, low prices. Having
a garage sale can be fun or stressful, useful or
counter-productive, profitable or costly.

There are many reasons for having a garage sale. Perhaps you
want to sell all those unused "treasures" taking up space in
your house. Perhaps it is to clean out the house prior to an
imminent move. Perhaps you simply want to make a few extra
dollars. Some people simply do it for an opportunity to meet
the neighbours and do a little haggling. A garage sale is very
useful at all these times and for all these reasons.

With a garage sale, you need to give the people what they want
(reasonably decent stuff at cheap prices) to get what you want
(floor space in your house). While the phrase “one man’s junk
is another man’s treasure” is true, there is another fact that
is equally true, and even more important.

Junk is Junk … and nobody will buy it…. usually.

You can always try to sell broken or non-working so they can be
used as parts for repairing other things people may have at
home. Just be honest about it and price it as a broken item.
You’ll be surprised just what kinds of things people will buy.

People who go to a garage sale have many things they may be
looking for. Some are just on the lookout for good stuff at
great prices. A few will just be passing by and spot something
they have always wanted but could not afford until they saw it
at your sale. Some are dedicated garage-salers armed with maps
of advertised garage sales, hunting for specific items or items
they never knew they needed. Some will attend simply to meet the
folks from down the block. Some will even attend your garage
sale just to have items for their own garage sales. Whatever
their reasons, you need to attract buyers who will see your
items, like your prices, and walk away with the things they do
actually want and need.

But setting up a garage sale properly and pricing your goods so
that they sell fast and furious at a price you like…well those
are topics for other articles.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
When you check the statistics, only a very small percentage of
Americans ever try to own their own business. To be sure, a
great many more of us are trying our hand at owning a business
than in days past, but the vast majority of Americans still
work for a boss.

Why is that? When I ask people why they don't start their own
business, most don't mention a lack of money or even a lack of
skills. Most will tell me something like, "I'm not the kind of
person who can own their own business."

When you start asking them WHY they aren't the right kind of
person to be self-employed, most say "I don't like to sell. I
can't be pushy. I don't feel comfortable talking people into
buying something. It all sounds like too much work."

In the past, I would have told you that you are right; being a
business owner wouldn't be right for you. You're probably
saving yourself a lot of money, work, and heartache by staying
in your job.

But today things have changed. I no longer discourage anyone
from going into to business for themselves. The simple reason
is it's so EASY now to outsource the parts of business you
don't feel comfortable with.

Don't like to look for new customers? Prospecting is a vital
part of any business, especially for a new business that NEEDS
more customers. But today, you can outsource prospecting to
online systems that advertise for prospects, get their
information, then separate the tire kickers from the solid
potential buyers.

Don't like to sell? No problem. If you're not good at closing a
sale, there are teams that can do all that for you. Some
services have very experienced rooms of sales people who call
your prospects for you, sell them over the phone, close the
deal, and send you a check.

Don't have a product or service you can sell? Don't worry about
that either. There is a huge and increasing supply of successful
firms who give you products and services to sell. In fact,
they'll store the products, take the orders, ship the products,
and send you a nice commission.

Gone are the days when you have to rent an expensive office,
hire employees, or keep boxes of product in your garage. Also
gone are the evenings of spending hours on the phone calling
total strangers, and sitting through boring sales meetings.

That is how business was done in the past, and a BIG reason why
so many people opted not to go into business for themselves.
Today, those objections have evaporated. Just about anyone CAN
successfully operate their own business. Simply outsource the
jobs you don't like, and concentrate of the aspects of the
business you enjoy.

In a very few years that Internet has been exiting, it has fast
become a virtual shopping site where everything from the most
common to the hard to find items can be found. Incorporation
services are one. Most businesses choose to incorporate because
of the benefits that can be derived from it.

Not long ago, only big businesses were incorporated. These
businesses can provide the best compensation packages and
benefits that are near to impossible in smaller establishments
that are not incorporated.

During the middle half of the 1900’s, other smaller businesses
started picking up the idea. One of the reasons that
incorporated businesses enjoy is tax exemption and tax holidays
that translate into big savings that can be used as additional
capital.

During the 70’s the reason to incorporate even small businesses
had been so attractive that small businesses started to
incorporate. Later however, congress started curtailing the
benefits that the big corporations are enjoying that today,
even small organizations can start having additional fringe
benefits. This resulted in smaller entities having parity with
big corporations in terms of tax deductible benefits without
being incorporated.

While parity has been achieved, there are still many reasons
for incorporating.

One is image. A good title like President or the CEO of a
corporation can command respect among clients. Clients would
normally prefer to talk with the top executives of a company
than any other person with a non-corporate title to back him
up.

Another is the protection of a corporation when buying
services. To soften the exposure of the company, many are now
requiring independent contractors to incorporate themselves
before their services are accepted.

An incorporated business has a wide range of powers. It has its
own legal personality separate from its stockholders, owners and
investors that is mandated and protected by state laws. It can
Enter into contracts and buy and sell properties and goods
subject to lawful transactions.

When legal problems arise, anyone from the company can
represent the corporation in behalf of the company.

An incorporated company is liable for its own debts. The
directors, shareholder and owners are shielded from the
company’s debt and can not be sued in behalf of the company.
The company will have to bear the burden of is own debts from
its own resources except in cases when an individual guarantees
the corporate debt or as mandated by the court.

Corporations are granted a separate personality that it can go
on even after the death of the owner and the shareholders.

In short, there is money to be saved privileges to be enjoyed
when an entity is incorporated.

While books have been written whereby an individual can
incorporate himself without a lawyer, the safest and surest way
is still to have one. The expertise of a lawyer encompasses
consideration for commercial law, laws on taxation, securities
legislation, limited liability, local and national ordinances
and a wealth of knowledge regarding business consideration.
Furthermore, laws are being changed, proposed and amended from
time to time that the law that a non-attorney is familiar with
may already have been replaced.

A registered agent will be required for companies that are in
the process of incorporation. They act as the representative
for accepting service processes that include official
government communication that are presented to the company,
legal proceedings and legal notices.

Incorporation services can also provide you a registered agent
when you require one.

Garage Sale Hints for Displaying Your Merchandise

Garage sales are a common thing from early spring until just
before the winter snows begin to fly. We’ve all been to dozens
in our life and for the most part I’d say most people feel
pretty comfortable that they could put on their own reasonable
garage sale if they wanted too. Well we’d like to think that
the following list of garage sale hints will help out those of
you who are perhaps a little inexperienced in selling.

One of the most common mistakes that people make is in the way
that they display the items that they are wanting to sell. If
you spend just a few minutes thinking about what you are
selling and how to best organize it, you will sell more stuff
at a higher price. So…

Once your tables are set up either inside the garage a few days
before the sale or outside on your driveway the day of the sale,
it is time to put your merchandise out on display in a way that
makes it easier for people to find and buy what they are
looking for.

It is really critical that you don’t simply put everything out
randomly, in big piles, or scattered all over the place on the
ground. Ideally, you don't want people moving things around on
their own. Take it from someone who used to work in retail:
left to their own devices, people will make a royal mess of any
organization system.

If you can keep people from rummaging about, in, and underneath
your carefully organized displays, you will save yourself a lot
of reorganizing headaches later. Starting out with easy to
access displays that are organized logically is a good thing.
Here are a few other hints to keep in mind as you put out your
garage sale items.

- No clothes should be thrown on the ground
- Small items should not be placed in boxes under the tables
- Everything for sale should be displayed when the sale opens
- Group items by price.
- Divide the tables into areas for different price ranges and
put a sign up letting people know what that range is
- The arrangement should make it easier for your customers to
find what they need, what they want

These garage sale hints should help first-timers to have
everything run smoothly. Just be sure to put like things
together and give people enough space to move around.

I am often asked to assist with writing business plans. While a
business plan is often needed when you are getting financing for
your business, I find that most business owners don’t find them
very useful. Why not? Because usually they are written from a
very long term frame (typically five years) and once they are
written, they are put on a shelf and never looked at again. I’m
going to suggest some ways that you can get more out of your
business plan.

1) Review your business plan frequently. Business plans aren’t
meant to be static. They are mostly a long-term strategic tool,
but to be effective you need to look at them regularly and
update your strategies. How often? I’d suggest quarterly. Look
at which of your strategies are working and which aren’t. Do
more of what works and less of what doesn’t. Ask yourself why
some are working and some aren’t. What can you learn to make
your business stronger?

2) Add a lifestyle component to your business plan. I have yet
to see a business plan that includes your ideal lifestyle. Does
a bank care about your lifestyle? Probably not. But you should.
Take time this week to add a lifestyle page to your business
plan. At a minimum, include how many hours you want to work,
where you want to work, how much vacation you’d like and what
schedule you want. Then go through your business plan and make
sure your business strategies support your lifestyle
strategies. What you may find is that you’ll have to add
strategies for hiring additional staff, streamlining
operations, and creating better business systems.

3) Turn your business plan into an action plan. Your business
plan is all about long term strategy. It’s the big picture
about how you’ll run your business. Take that long-term
strategy and turn it into a short-term action plan. For each
strategy you have in your business plan, write a short-term
action plan. Include what the actual activity will be, what
resources you need to do it (employees, money, time, equipment,
etc) and write out a detailed plan for it including deadlines.
This plan should be for the next three to six months. The
action plan should include every step you will need to take to
accomplish each goal in your plan.

The first time you do these exercises may take between two and
eight hours. It depends on how much detail you provide. My
experience shows that the more detail you include the more
effective your plan is. The next time you do this (remember to
review and revise this quarterly) it will take a lot less time.
Each time you do this will build on the time before and your
planning will become more and more effective. Now you’ve got a
business plan that works.

If you’d like a sample business plan that works, please email
me and I’ll send you one that you can use as a model.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
For a long time in my life I never started a business. I always
thought about it but never started it.

Then I wasted my time going to school, learning courses I know
I will not need. Doing what others wish me to do.

Somehow, I know they're wrong and I am right. Somehow I know
that if I don't like a course, I shouldn't learn it. It will be
more efficient if all of us learn what we'll be good at.

Somehow, I know that the reasons why I have to do homeworks are
not so I become smart, but because others do not want me to move
too fast so they ensure that everyone moves at the same speed in
governments' regulated education.

Somehow, I know, that I know what's good for me.

Yet, I had not been rich. Because I hadn't taken any action
about it. I just complained about it, but still follow the
scripts that societies want me to do.

Then finally it happened. One friend I helped taught me a
simple business.

It's a stupid business. I buy products from shops at customers
price, and then sell it on eBay for a slight profit.

Bad business plan. Bad business. It went belly up within 2
months with thousands of dollars lost. All the little profit
don't make up the losses when one thief stole my properties.

But you know what? Though moneywise I lost money, I get
something from that business that none of my thinking,
complaining, and fidgeting has given me for years. I got
something so valuable that it's what got me rich.

That valueable thing is business experience and the only way
anyone will ever get it is by doing it.

From that business experience, I know stuffs that only I know.
I learn that there are more money in information than in goods
itself, for example.

Then I modify my business and start other businesses again.

A multimillionare that I consider a teacher taught his student:
Believe, Courage, Action.

Calculations are good. However, the richest among us are not
necessarily the most calculative. Those who will become rich
are those with guts to take action and some calculated risk.

When we take action, the first thing we do, we won't get things
perfectly right. And that's fine. We got experience. That's what
we're getting. After all those experience, we'll then discover
ways to find out what works.

There are so many things that theoretically will work and make
money in business. You know what?

If everybody knows it will work, either you'll have a lot of
competitors, or you'll have envy bigots blocking the method
somehow.

The perk of trying it yourself and learning from experience is
that you know something only you know will work. That's a huge
plus.

There is only one way to know whether things that theoretically
work will actually work or not with huge assurance. You try it.
If it works, then you make money. If it doesn't work then
you'll get experience.

So if you've been thinking of doing a business for too long.
Here's an advice for you. Just do it. Just do it.

Now of course life is about balance. Experience can be very
expensive. I lost $3500 for a fraud. It cost me countless time
and money to get that vermin to jail. So yeah, you should learn
from others and be calculative too. However, for most of you
that never even tried a business, here's an advice. Just do it.

Start a small business. Start from something you'll know will
work. Then build confidence and experience from there. When you
get more natural confidence and experience, then start doing it
bigger. The best way to get confidence is to be succesful in
smaller scales first. So stop thinking and start doing it, even
in small steps.

I make a small internet business tutorial anyone can try in
http://fasterfinancialfreedom.com/?id=449. That alone is not
going to get you rich. That kind of info is unlikely to be
free.

However, it costs very little money for domain name and
advertising. It's something you can try. It's the sort of thing
that my friend has given me, a small business tutorial, that I
want to give to you.

Give it a try and see what you'll discover. At the least,
you'll know whether business is for you or not.

Money goes to its own level. The only way you'll get richer is
if you're smarter and more connected. That requires you to keep
trying and learning new things. Keep trying.

Whatever the mind can conceive, the mind can achieve.

Keep trying, keep planning, keep learning, and keep being open
minded. And just do it. Eventually, you'll be there where you
want yourself to be. And never give up.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Despite this, there are legitimate wholesalers who will work
with and for you to help get the merchandise and support you
need in a professional manner. You need to know the facts about
wholesale trade, wholesalers and middleman, and finally know
the resources to explore in order to get started.

Wholesalers exist for the primary reason of moving the goods
between the manufacturers and retailers. They normally take
care of the logistics and shipment of the goods between the
factory and those who sell them.Often wholesalers are the
primary distributor for the manufacturer and may have an
exclusive relationship with them. The most important fact to
realize about most wholesalers is that they do not
advertise. You will not find them listed in many search engines,
or if they are listed, they are buried deep within the
results. In addition, a wholesaler will not normally advertise
in any media.

Wholesalers are in the business of moving large quantities of
the goods to resellers and other retail outlets. Moving small
quantities of goods creates overhead for them, as they are not
setup to deal with that type of business. This is not to say
they will not sell smaller quantities, but you may find that
you will have to negotiate and pay a higher price per
unit.Given all this, an honest wholesaler will work with you to
find the right channel for you to buy the merchandise if you are
willing to work with them. Often they may direct you to local
distributors whom they sell too depending on the quantity
involved. You should not get discouraged if they do this as it
is normally the best way given the quantity involved.

All too often people will come upon middlemen passing
themselves off as a wholesaler.Middlemen often do not carry any
inventory and merely enter your order into the system so the
goods can be shipped to you. They charge a markup, often
between 30-50 percent, and offer no value added service for
you. These are the people you will find cluttering search
engines and advertising using every available method. They do
not have your business interests in mind and are only there to
push as much merchandise as they can while maximizing their
percentage. To put it another way, they are like dialing the
operator to make a long-distance call.Sure, you will get the
call to go through, but you will pay a high premium over
dialing direct.

So how do you go about finding a quality wholesaler? The best
place to start is with the manufacturer of the product you are
interested in.They can often refer you to their distributor
and/or wholesaler. From there they will determine the best
channel for you to purchase the goods through, whether it is
from them or through a local or regional distributor. Remember,
manufacturers want to get their product out there and have sales
departments that assist you in such matters.Don’t be afraid to
go directly to the source, you may be pleasantly surprised!

To get started making wholesale connections there are a few
questions you should ask of yourself and your business. These
will help define not only what you need for your business to
grow, but also will help the manufacturer and wholesaler get
the products to you:

·What volume will I be doing? Is it ten units or ten thousand
units?

·What facilities do I have available for delivery and receipt?
Wholesalers often ship in pallet quantities via commercial
trucking and do not deliver to home addresses.

·How often do I turn over inventory? You don’t want to have
10,000 units of an item sitting in inventory for months or
years.

·What is my market area? Don’t underestimate the answer to
this. Wholesalers and manufacturers are very strict when it
comes to what area you are marketing in because of contracts
with other retailers and other financial agreements.

If you are just getting started in establishing a relationship
there are a number of online sites that can help you understand
the basics of wholesalers and purchasing. However, be very
careful of using any type of search engine to gather
information. They are flooded with middlemen and others who
have nothing to do with wholesale trade and will often lead you
down the wrong path before you even get started.

Some of the resources we recommend include:

·National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors ·American
Wholesale Marketers Association

·Manufacturers Association Directory

·The National Retail Federation

Wholesaler-Buyer relationships can be difficult to establish,
but with a little bit of research and a lot of dedication to
tracking down the details you will have a profitable
relationship for both you and the wholesaler.

My idea of fun is to work from home. I decide when to get up,
what assignments to accept, how many hours a day I want to put
in, and when to walk from home to office to home by simply
crossing the threshold from one room to another.

Prior to relocating to Jaffa I ran a work from home business:
typing, proofreading, editing, and translating. I could work in
the middle of the night if I felt like it. I would simply put on
a bathrobe and slippers and patter downstairs to my home office.
I could also organize my work day around my home chores. As a
single parent raising two teenage daughters this was a great
arrangement. I won’t deny that sometimes my dual
responsibilities clashed. Still, I was my very own work from
home boss!

Having made a career change I now write website articles for
all you wonderful people out there. I work out of the confines
of my cozy Jaffa apartment. I can work in the nude if I so
desire. It wouldn’t make any difference to anyone. I think I do
my best work from this home job set up and I believe this to be
a real earn extra income opportunity. However, time will be the
judge of that.

Meanwhile my friends, enjoy!

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Whether you are just thinking about, or you have decided that
you would like to start running a wholesale business, there are
a number of items that you should spend considerable time
planning and researching before going full steam ahead. Proper
planning and fact-finding up-front can not only save you from a
lot of headaches in the beginning, but can also mean the
difference between a successful wholesale business versus a
monetary disaster waiting to happen.

In this article we will provide you with ten tips to help guide
you along the way as you begin planning for your business. They
are presented in chronological order so that you can use them
as a way to plan out the proper steps along the way. Remember,
success depends on many factors – and the most important factor
is your determination and energy you put into making your
business a success!

Step 1: Ask Yourself Why?

Why do you want to get into the wholesaling business? It is
because you would enjoy working with other businesses and
manufacturers being the main point of contact between the two?
Or is it because you think it is an easy way to make money
quick?

Wholesaling is a demanding business, and can require lots of
up-front capital, warehousing, logistics planning and customer
service skills. As the main channel between the manufacturer
and retailers you may find yourself dealing with hundreds of
thousands of units of merchandise needing to be shipped across
the country on a moments notice. Large retailers often pay on a
Net-10 or Net-30 schedule, meaning payment is made after the
goods are delivered. What would you do if a retailer did not
pay or went bankrupt before you received payment?

Step 2: Study Your Competition

It does no good to enter a market where there already exist
established, credible wholesalers for a given product.
Retailers want to know they have a dependable supply source
that meets their terms and often will not change wholesalers
for an established product. Just because you build the
warehouse does not mean they will come.

Use your local Chamber of Commerce, the Internet and even visit
with retailers to find out what wholesalers exist in your area.
If you want to specialize in a specific product, contact the
manufacturer directly to find out who handles wholesaling for
them already in your region. There may be none in your state,
or there could be three down the street.

Step 3: Assess your Financial Situation

Wholesaling can require a lot of up-front capital and
expenditures before you even see one cent of income. Do you
have the resources to spend on setting up a relationship with a
manufacturer who will most likely require you to buy in huge
quantities from them? Can you afford to wait up to 30 days for
payment? Do you have the money to invest in shipping freight or
setting up your own delivery service?

Be sure to look past the startup costs as well. Employees,
taxes, property rental and insurance are just a few of the
things you will need to factor in as ongoing costs.

Step 4: The Business Plan

A solid business plan is the foundation of any business. You
need to make sure that you have spelled out what you intend to
do and how you intend to get it done. Not only will banks
require this for financing, but often other businesses you deal
with will want to see it as well. It should be the guidelines
that you follow every day in your business to achieve the goals
you have set forth.

For this part, it is often wise to work with a business lawyer
or seek professional advice from business consulting services.
A good resource to help you find people in your area with the
necessary skills and background is the Small Business
Administration, located on the web at http://www.sba.gov.

Step 5: Apply for Licenses, Taxing Certificates and Other
Necessary Paperwork

Nothing is as certain as death and taxes. It is no different in
business, with one exception. As a wholesaler you will be
required to pay taxes and other fees to your state and to the
federal government.

The one exception is that you will be granted tax-exempt status
for the actual goods you are moving between the manufacturer and
other retailers. This can be a tricky process and is handled at
the state level.

Again, for this part you will want to make extensive use of
your state taxing authority as well as local Chambers of
Commerce. One wrong mistake here can end up costing you not
only money, but possible your entire business.

Step 6: Establish Your Facilities

Location, location, location. Businesses must exist somewhere
and like most things in life there are rules and regulations on
where they can be. Will you be having semi-trailers coming to
your location at all hours of the day and night? Will you have
a storefront for vendors and clients to come calling at? What
about electrical, water and sewage needs?

Zoning laws exist to make sure that the right structures end up
in the right places. Nobody wants a warehouse next door to them
in a residential neighborhood. Work with commercial real-estate
agencies to find a suitable place for your business.

Step 7: Establish Your Relationships
You have the facilities, you have the financials – now do you
have anyone supplying you product or customers for that
product? Work with manufacturers and retailers to build a
relationship. This can be one of the most difficult parts of
the experience, and is where the rubber hits the road.

In addition, relationships extend beyond your customers and
suppliers. It is good practice to establish relations with your
local Chamber of Commerce, retail associations and labor
organizations in your area.

Step 8: Marketing

Wholesalers traditionally don’t advertise. That doesn’t mean
you shouldn’t market your business to others, after all how can
you build relationships or expand on existing ones? Wholesaling
guides are published and distributed to many retailers and this
is where the bulk of your marketing efforts will be directed.
The other half should be in going to retailers directly,
meeting with buyers and outlining your services. Just because
you have a customer today does not mean you can rest on your
laurels.

Marketing works hand in hand with building a relationship and
maintaining it.

Step 9: The Machine in Motion: Servicing Your Customers

Product is coming in, retailers are placing orders – we’re all
done right? Not exactly. Getting the product to your customers,
answering questions about delivery timelines, working with
vendors to obtain new product lines, it is a complex and
demanding part of the business.

In today’s “just in time” marketing model a delay in shipment
could mean the end to a business relationship. You must keep
your customers informed of any status changes, pricing concerns
and product movements from your facility to their loading dock.
This is where backend systems come into play by maintaining
records and logs of all activity with that customer. Do not
underestimate the value of a good Customer Relationship
Management system (CRM).

Step 10: Employees, Accounts Receivable and Other Financial
Matters

Once everything is up and running your next focus is your
business financials. Employees need to be hired and fired.
Payroll needs to be met. Money must come in, and money must go
out. Here you should invest in financial talent and services if
you do not possess them already.

One oversight can mean the loss of hundreds of thousands of
dollars; a missed payroll deadline could mean your entire
business comes to a halt. It is critical that you constantly
keep an eye on the books and on your expenditures. Know when to
tighten the belt, and know when to expand.

If you are operating a home business, you want to take
advantage of those tax deductions that are rightfully yours.
Working at home allows you to deduct portions of bills that you
are already paying to live there.

Certain home expenses can be deducted if you actually work in
your home. It is simpler to do this if you have a room set
aside solely for the business. Figure out how large that room
is in proportion to the house, and you can deduct some expenses
using that percentage.

For instance, if your office space takes up 10% of your house,
you can deduct 10% of your heating expenses for the days you
work. (If you do not work on weekends, you cannot deduct for
weekends.) You can deduct items such as mortgage interest
(though not your mortgage itself), electricity, telephone,
insurance, and expenses for maintenance and repair. In general,
you can deduct the percentage of home expenses that directly
relates to the home business.

You can also deduct costs for your internet service provider in
proportion to the amount you use the internet for business. If
it is used completely for business you can deduct it all, but
be certain before you do this that you are not using it for
other reasons. Do not forget the other business costs such as
office supplies, furniture, software, subscriptions, or other
equipment, if these items are used exclusively for your home
business.

If your business requires you to leave your home office, you
can deduct the cost of mileage, other travel, meals,
entertainment, and anything else that goes along with the cost
of living on the road. During the year, make sure you keep
documentation of your mileage and the cost of lodging, food,
etc.

What about the bigger ticket items? When making home business
tax deductions, you can also take into consideration insurance
premiums (if you are self-employed and pay for your own
insurance), the money you put into retirement plans, and half
of what you pay towards your social security. And if your
children are seventeen or younger and are working for you, you
can deduct their salaries as business expenses.

This sketch of tax deductions is of course only a starting
point. For more information, be sure to check out the IRS web
site and to consult with your tax professional.

Creative selling is an individual accomplishment.

It embraces you and the power within you to think and create.

These qualities and attributes are individual, and no one
but you can develop them.

Cut loose and free yourself from all negative thinking, from
all petty restrictions and all pygmy notions and all corroded
resistance. Negative thinking retards you and holds you back.

Open up the channel to positive thinking, and let the creative
power flow through.

Cast out all your doubts and uncertainties.

They are of no value. Turn the power and dominion of positive
thoughts on all your doubts, worries, and dreads. Start to
develop the power of creative selling, and expect nothing but
results.

Rejoice and be glad that you have the ability as well as the
opportunity to sell. It will be a thrilling experience to sell
and serve. You will find that you feel like a new person.

You will feel like starting anew every morning. What seemed a
burden and a task will became an interesting and profitable
adventure.

In the attributes of latent ability and creative power the men
and women who sell have undeveloped resources to make the
economy of this nation hum with unlimited prosperity, spin with
increasing activity, and furnish more ofthe good things of life
to a greater number of people for many, many years to come.

With new and better products coming into the market every day,
and with new wants and new needs being uncovered almost hourly,
everyone who sells or who prepares himself to sell has an
unparalleled opportunity to partake of all the good things of
life and share in an inexhaustible abundance.

Opportunity is not only knocking on your door, but it is
ringing the door bell, urging you to avail yourself of the
greatest aggregation of untapped wealth and prosperity that
this nation or any nation has ever known. The potentialities of
selling are greater today than ever before. Greater, too, are
the rewards of selling. So - JUST DO IT.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
There are many ways to make money at home. You can either start
your own home business or apply at a company that employs people
who can work from home..

The most common ways to make money at home is by starting your
own home business. Because of the internet, it is now possible
for people to communicate faster wherever they are in the
world.

Therefore, it is easier for people to start their own home
business and sell their product or services more effectively.

However, starting a home business is not as easy at it seems,
you also need to invest a little time and money for your
business to work.

If you plan to make extra cash at home, here are some
guidelines, much like making a feasibility study, to remember
in order to put you on the right track.

Firstly, you need to create a business plan. To do this you
have to find out how much money you want to make and the goals
you want to reach.

Be realistic, starting your own home business does not mean
that you can become a millionaire overnight. Determine how much
extra money you want to earn and how much you are willing to
invest.

Research what kind of home business you are willing to
consider. Make a list of these businesses and try to figure out
what suits you best and figure out the demands for each kind of
business. Choose one that is easy to set up and one that does
not require you to invest a lot of money.

Choose one that does not need much maintenance, for example,
perishable goods like fruits and vegetables are a great income
generator, but there are too many competitors and it also
requires you to spend large sums of money for storage.

Look for a business that does not need these kinds of special
care. Remember, you are in a business to make money not lose
it.

To help you decide, here are some types of businesses that are
great moneymakers:

Import-Export Business

Since we can communicate with anyone from around the world, you
can look for a business that exports quality handmade products
that are cheap. You can then import these products and sell
them by using the internet with a larger price tag.

There are many quality handmade products with great designs and
artistry all over the world. For example, you can sell exotic
looking carpets from the Middle East that cost $20.00 each,
including the packaging fee, and then sell them in your country
for a lot more.

Affiliate Programs

This type of home based business has been around for quite a
while and it is still popular. This is because this is one of
the easiest ways to make money..

You just have to create a theme-based website and find a
company to sign up as an affiliate that is relevant to your
website’s theme.

For example, your website is about fishing, what you have to do
is find a website that sells fishing equipments or fishing tours
and vacations.

Once a visitor clicks on the advertising and buys their
products or services, you instantly earn commission for the
sold product or service. You are paid by just referring people.
The key to this business’s success is targeted internet traffic.

There are many types of work-at-home businesses. All you have
to do is find out what tailors your needs. Having your own home
business can be either a part time job or a full time job.

It is also very convenient especially if you are a single
parent who cannot afford to hire a nanny for your children. By
doing online business you can make extra cash and take care or
look after your children at the same time.

Who among you can live without money? Isn’t it impossible? Does
it make a difference if you have a single cent or a bundle of
green money in your pocket? Indeed, it does make a difference.

Parents cannot buy the needs of their children, cannot send
them to school and cannot give them what they want. The only
solution is money…

Even if you are already surrounded with all the things that you
need, if you do not have money, you cannot do anything else.
Don’t you realize that it is quite disgusting when you just sit
in a corner of your room?

Laziness should not be part of a person’s lifestyle. People
must learn how to maximize their time and effort. They should
go on with the flow of the water. Remember that when there is
work, there is money. You have to grab the chance!

There are many things you can do to make money. If you get
annoyed working at an office where you hear the voice of your
boss everyday, you can do something else.

Remember, it is pretty cool if you start exploring new things.
You just need to be inspired, innovative. It is also
self-fulfilling if you are able to achieve your goals with your
own efforts and ingenuity.

The best place where you can start making money is at home.
This is a haven for your family, but you can also make use of
it in a more functional manner.

It does not mean that you have to give up your career right
away and quit your regular job. Making money at home is making
use of your spare time rather. In other words, you can do this
during the weekend. Surely, you will get fond of it later.

Here is one idea are to turn your personal computer into a
money machine.

1. Look for an affiliate program. You should choose one that
pays at least $15 per sale. A good starting point is comission
junction or clickbank.

2. Once you chose an affiliateprogram get your affiliate link.

3. Now it is time to start doing keyword research. Make a list
of keywords people most likely will search for when looking for
the product you are promoting.

4. Write an attention grabbing ad.

5. Sign up at Adwords.

6. Set up your adwords account by adding the keywords you
researched and by adding the ad you created.

7. Wait for the orders to start coming in.

8. Refine your ad and keywords to make the most out of your
campaign.

This is just one idea to make an additional income from home.
Adwords advertising still works great. All you need to do is
make sure you are promoting a product that converts and keep
the cost per click as low as possible.

The extra money that you will earn will somehow help to sustain
your everyday expenses.

Kids need to be kids and enjoy their time as children. But, at
the same time, as they get older, they also need to learn to
make money and function in our society as responsible adults.

Oftentimes, they get a job at a Burger Joint, where they learn
how to listen to a boss, and how to work with others, but then
they may also have to give up some extracurricular activities,
study time and time with family. Not terrible things, but
enough of a challenge that many families are helping their kids
start their own businesses.

Why? Let’s compare the lessons your kid is learning working at
a burger joint verses starting a business.

1. Responsibility.

Burger Joint: Yes, it teaches responsibility. You need to show
up for work and do a good job or your boss and co-workers will
get mad at you.

Entrepreneur: Teaches you responsibility as well. You need to
work hard or you won’t get paid.

2. The Value of a Dollar

Burger Joint: You learn that time is money.

Entrepreneur: You learn that creativity, ownership of
responsibility and hard work is money.

3. How to Market Yourself

Burger Joint: Teaches you how to fill out an application and go
on an interview to market yourself. You do this once and then
you’re done.

Entrepreneur: You have to market yourself and your business on
an ongoing basis if you want to make any money.

4. Customer Service

Burger Joint: Service with a smile or your boss may reprimand
you.

Entrepreneur: Service with a smile or you don’t get repeat
business and your income drops.

5. Banking Skills

Burger Joint: You learn how to collect a paycheck and how to
deposit it into the bank.

Entrepreneur: You learn how to budget for advertising costs,
taxes, and expenses and weigh them against your profits. You
learn to deposit your income into the bank and write checks to
cover expenses. You learn how business works.

As you can see, both options have benefits. As for which option
you’ll choose? That’s up to you and your child.

A big advantage of working from home is the tax benefits of
operating a home based business. Working from home allows you
to deduct portions of bills that you are already paying to live
there.

You can deduct home expenses if you actually work in your home.
It is easiest to do this if you have a room set aside for your
business. Figure out how bit that room is in proportion to the
house, and you can deduct expenses using that percentage.

For example, if your place of doing business takes up 5% of
your house, you can deduct 5% of your heating expenses for the
days you work. (In other words, if you don't work weekends, you
can't deduct for weekends.) YOu can deduct items such as
mortgage interest (though not your mortgage itself),
electricity, telephone, insurance, and expenses for maintenance
and repair. In general, you can deduct the portion of expenses
that directly relates to your business.

You can deduct costs for your internet service provider in
proportion to the amount you use it on business, too. If it's
used completely for business you can deduct it all, but be
certain before you do this that you are not using it for other
reasons.

The nature of your home based business is not critically
important. What is most important is for you to review the
related IRS regulations and make sure that your business and
the manner in which you intend to operate it will qualify as a
home based business.

The tax benefits of operating a home based business enable you
to deduct things you would otherwise be paying in full. If you
are considering a business from home, it's a good way to lower
your costs. This is just one more advantage of working from
home.

Warm regards,
Kenny Anderson

About six months ago (September 2005) I started looking on the
web for ways to make money from home; I’m an online college
student who has a lot of time on his hands. I was surprised to
see so many different avenues of income possibilities; I
quickly realized a lot of these programs were scams. I’m a
young guy who was new to internet marketing; I fell for the get
rich quick schemes and lost a couple hundred dollars. We all
hate loosing money but when you are going to school and not
working that money becomes even more important. I was very
depressed, but decided to not give up; once I realized I had to
work hard and research what was out there, I began to see
results. I became interested in finding a proven way to make
money from home and then offer people the same opportunity. My
major in college is Human Resources; it’s in my nature to help
others better themselves; I have definitely been doing that
since I started internet marketing. With the web flooded with
several different ways to make money from home; it’s important
to separate yourself from those other programs like your own.
What I try to do is point people in the right direction and
allow them to lean on me for help. It’s great having my own
website but that’s just something people see on a screen. I go
a step further and allow people to contact me with any
questions they may have; sometimes all people need is a little
help.

It’s a shame we have to come across a lot of people who like to
make a quick buck off of those just trying to find their way in
life. Internet marketing is very competitive and if you don’t
know what you’re doing, you’re in big trouble. Working From
Home Works!!! You just have to find that right person and
program to help you get started. If you find a good program you
can start out by putting in about 8 to 10 hours a week; once you
start grossing some income you can step it up and make it your
full-time job. When I graduate in July of ’06, I will be able
to work from home full-time and use my degree to get a side job
of my choosing as a hobby. Working from home is great but it’s
important to get outside and get away from your computer once
in a while.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
I know at first glance this sounds obvious, but it may be worth
it for you to think about your prices. At least just for a
moment.

How did you decide on your current pricing? Did you conduct
market research to understand what prospects would pay? Or did
you compare yourself to your competitors and base your price on
that? Or was it a crapshoot, and random shot in the dark?

These are the ways most people do it, and they are all wrong.
Because the price you set for your products and services is
more important than you think.

The following few paragraphs are a bit number heavy, but stay
with me because this will be really valuable for you to
understand.

Let's say you sell a high margin product - information products
and software are two good examples. Your price is $60, and your
costs are $10 - that means your gross margin (selling price -
your costs) is $50 each time you sell one unit. Let's say
further that your overhead is $5,000 per month. If you sell 100
units you'll break even, right?

Now you want to sell more, and decide you can take some
business from a competitor by lowering your price -
temporarily. You lower it to $40 - a 33% price cut, and not
uncommon.

Your costs remain $10 and your overhead is still $5,000, only
now your gross margin is $30 - 60% of what it was before. And
how many units do you need to break even now? 166! That's 66%
more unit sales required to make up for the 33% price cut!

But what if you're feeling very aggressive and you cut your
price in half (also not unheard of) to $30. Now you have to
sell 250 units - just to break even! That's 2-1/2 times as many
as before. How easy do you think that's going to be?

Let's use a different example - something that has real
manufacturing costs. This time, your product sells for $100,
and your cost of goods are $50 per unit, for a gross profit of
$50. Same $5000 overhead, same number of units to break even.
Now imagine you cut your price 20%, to $80, leaving you with
$30 of gross margin. You need to sell 66% more units. Ouch!

What if you cut the price to $70. This 30% price cut means you
have to sell 2-1/2 times more units - just to stay even.

Let's go further...

Competition is really heating up and you think that matching
them cut for cut is the way to go. The price for this amazing
widget of yours is now a bargain basement $60.

(Shucks, that's only 40% off your original price. Salespeople
and business owners do this every day.)

How many units do you need to break even? 500.

Five hundred? That's five times your original number.

Do you really think you can sell five times what you did before
- at least without significantly raising your overhead and your
variable cost of sale?

How many times have you done just this in response to
competitive pressures?

How many times have you cut prices because you thought it would
help you sell more?

:(:(:(

What we've just done is a simplified version of what's called
margin analysis, and I hope it gives you a glimmer of what can
happen when you mis-price.

For the most part, your price cuts don't automatically enable
you to sell 66% more than you did before, and generally - at
least not in this universe - you don't sell 250% more, and
never, ever do you sell 500% more with this kind of price
cutting.

But there is some good news - and it's very good.

Let's look at what happens when you raise your prices.

Remember your high-margin product. It sells for $60 and costs
$10 to make.

Through good product positioning and excellent marketing you
raise the price to $70. That's only a 15% increase. Now you
only have to sell 83 units to break even, and if you sell the
same 100 units, your profits go from $0 to $1000. Nice
increase...

And that "hard" product - the one with $50 of costs? Raise the
price tag 20% to $120, your margins increase to $70, and now
your breakeven drops 71, and you make $2000 if you sell the
same number of them.

See how this works?

:):):)

You can do this same analysis in a bit more sophisticated way,
considering your marketing costs, sales or affiliate
commissions, travel expenses if you have them, and so on. You
can see the actual pricing effect varies quite a bit depending
on these details.

If you have a high-leverage, pay-only-for-results affiliate
model, a very high gross margin and almost no fixed overhead,
you have a lot of price flexibility. You can cut the price 25%
and only need to sell 15% more! That's not too bad at all.

But only in that type of model. If you have a office, some
staff, and a physical product - in other words, fixed overhead
- lower prices can kill you - and you won't even see it coming.

And higher prices?

They can make you rich.

By now you are starting to see the tragic effects of
mis-pricing on the downside, and the marvelously enriching
possibilities of raising your prices.

This only works, of course, when you can also increase your
value proposition...

Stay tuned for part 2.

Follow this link at the bottom of the page to get a copy of an
excel spreadsheet to play with. Get the spreadsheet, plug in
your own numbers. It will really blow your mind. Also, feel

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Have you ever heard the expression, "Throwing good money after
bad?"

Have you ever worked on something you knew was a bad idea, yet
continued to pour time and energy into it? And every time you
tried to stop yourself from going forward, you said, "but I've
got so much put into it!"

When we make decisions about the future, many of us base a good
part of our analysis on the resources we have invested thus far.
It's a natural thing to do; you've put time, energy, money,
perhaps other things - and perhaps most important, your
reputation - on the line, and it's quite reasonable to consider
the totality of that investment when thinking about what you do
next.

Actually, it isn't.

It isn't reasonable at all.

The only reasonable thing that to consider is the impact of
your actions on the future.

Say you've spent the last several years and a bunch of money
into a venture that simply isn't performing as you hoped. You
haven't hit any of your success marks, and in fact, you're not
sure the project is worth anything at all. So by and by a new
opportunity comes along - one that is filled with potential,
and in some ways seems like a perfect match. But you have
difficulty letting go and jumping in. Something's holding you
back and that something is the specter of sunk costs.

You feel like you shouldn't just walk away from all the cash
and time you've already invested. You feel as if everything
you've put in should somehow make the venture worth something.

I've got bad news for you...

It doesn't.

The venture may be worth something, but its value has nothing
to do with how much you've spent to date. It is worth what it
is worth, and for good, bad or otherwise, the amount of money,
time... whatever... has nothing to do with it.

That's the fallacy of sunk costs.

Sunk costs are sunk.

They are gone.

They are spent.

The assets you've created may have some surplus value, like
unused inventory. Or they may have salvage value, and just like
the 5-1/2 tons of gold bullion on the HMS Edinburgh, that value
might be quite large. You wouldn't just walk away from assets
with salvage value like that. But in many cases the value of
your sunk costs is a tiny fraction of the original price.

No matter the value, none of this has anything to do with
decisions about actions you will take today, tomorrow and the
next day, which must be weighed on the merits of highest and
best use.

Ask yourself the question, "What is the highest and best use of
my time?" or "What use of my time will make the greatest
contribution towards my aims and goals?" Ask this question
without regard to what has happened until now.

Perhaps you've spent the past three years developing some
software that you thought was going to change the world. Three
years later, it works, but not brilliantly. In the meantime, a
competitor has built a superior solution that runs rings around
yours in the lab and in the marketplace and things are looking
pretty grim.

But you have just stumbled across a brand new business idea -
that has nothing to do with your software business - that you
can implement quickly and profitably. What do you do?

Many people, would, quite reasonably say, "I've spent so much
on this product, and I'm so close - I'll just keep working on
it.

But you know that would be wrong. It would not be the highest
and best use of your time; it wouldn't give you the greatest
return on your actions. That would be a decision based solely
on your attachment to the past and your attachment to your sunk
costs.

Be unreasonable. Make each decision as if there were no past
attached. Make each decision based on your highest and best use
- your greatest contribution. Evaluate each decision based on
how it will impact your ability to get what you want, not on
what you've spent to get where you are.
