I've been running more and more complicated programs lately that are
composed of many short line segments. Mach3 has a terrible time with
these programs and the actual feed is usually WAY less than the
commanded feed. This leads to long machining times and it's very hard
on the cutters. Does anyone have experience with EMC 2.0 and it's CV
mode? I really like Mach3, but If EMC has a better control method I
would gladly switch over. Art said at one time he was going to work
on a method to convert the line segments into NURBS to speed things
up, but I think that idea was placed on the back burner.

Mach3 doesn't have a terrible time with multi-line segments from my experience. There is no difference between segments and arcs. What PC and hardware are you...
Thanks for the response guys. I'm running a P4 2Ghz computer at 25Khz step rate. I used VisualMill for CAM and always set it up to cut within 0.001" or so of...
... If you have a simple example that will run on a 4"x4" X/Y plane, email it to me and I will test it on our EMC2/ARCNC100 Taig mill and post a video on our...
Emc2's trajectory control has been totally rewriten. It has fixed quite a few of the bugs from the original emc planner. You can read about it here. ...
... Hi: Getting 25IPM from a 100ipm program isnt unusual with very short line segements. Nurbs is about the only way around it, but it too has a cost of not...
So Art, would this mean that the through put constraints of the G100's Rabbit 3270 are really not a big problem unless your trying to convert a very big...
Thanks for the reply Art. I hate to keep bothering you about it, that's why I have been asking about EMC (blushing). I don't think the limit is my machine...

Just wanted to input my two cents, I am not familar with these two systems but my comment should be valid as it is a problem with many others. In some systems...
Steve: Yes, Quantum does help with that. In fact it was just updated to Mach3 current level today. If you select a max jerk ( in inches/sec^3) , youll find you...

Hello Again, Thanks for the ton of replies. Jon Elson helped me out a ton and ran some of my code on EMC2. For some reason Visual Mill put in a G61 in my...
OK, Visualmill output my code and popped in "F10" every once in a while which is not picked up by Mach3's display refresh, but does make my machine go slower...
... Yes, I saw that and did a run with the F10 upped to F30 and the F20 upped to F60. You have to get your CAM working so you can trust it, or you can't trust...
Jon, no doubt I need to learn the CAM better, and I really appreciate the help. Well, after commenting that my problem was fixed, I opened up some older code...
