Description

GELocos is for locomotive historians, railfans and modelers interested in General Electric steam- or gas-turbine, straight-electric or diesel-electric locomotives. Postings about the history, disposition, development and modelling of GE locomotives, locomotive prime movers, or electrical systems, whether North American or other in their application, are most welcome. This is an EMD-free zone. However, postings about locomotives constructed by GE, its subsidiaries or licensees (ie. EMC boxcabs, Fairbanks-Morse "Erie-builts"), or relying on GE electricals (ie., all Alco products) will be tolerated and encouraged. If you plan on joining this group your Yahoo! profile MUST be up-to-date and have real information in it. Applications with blank profiles will be ignored. If you do not have a Yahoo! profile, you must include appropriate information to support your application in the comment line of the application process.

I would probably use this paint scheme, which is what GE has used on several of their Evolution Series demo units, both AC and DC:

Group, I am going to kitbash a ES23DC in N scale. I would like to hear from you what kind of paint scheme GE might have of used if they had built this model.

Indeed! Under constant power conditions the traction motor current must go down as speed increases. Power is proportional to the product of torque and speed.

The current does NOT normally go down at higher speeds and higher voltages.  The generator's output is controlled by varying the excitation as well as the
