Welcome to Grand Forks Railfanning! Don't let the name fool you, as we encompass a lot more ground than just the cities of Grand Forks and East Grand Forks! From up north to Grafton, Drayton, and Walhalla, west to Devils Lake, Rugby, and Minot, east to Crookston, Bemidji, and Thief River Falls, and south to the Fargo-Moorhead, Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Valley City, and Wahpeton-Breckenridge areas, all things rail related both past and present are fair game in this group. In addition, topics which affect operations in the coverage area, such as derailments and line closures, are welcomed.

The coverage area includes the BNSF Railway, Dakota Northern Railroad, Northern Plains Railroad, Minnesota Northern Railroad, Canadian Pacific Railway, Red River Valley and Western Railroad, and the Otter Tail Valley Railroad, as well as all of the fallen flags that once graced these northern plains.
