Welcome to the HEADS UP NOR CAL!

The HeadsUp NorCal group is a train reporting group for ALL of Northern California. It was created as a "headsup" site modeled after the HeadsUpCoastFans list (a train reporting list for California's ex-SP Coastline). Specifically, this group covers the UP, BNSF railroads plus all connecting Shortlines in the following regions: the northern California-Nevada border to all points West AND from Salinas / Fresno to all points North (California-Oregon border).

Although most message postings appear to be focused on main corridor reports like UP's Cal-P from Oakland to Sacramento, the Bay Area's Niles/Hayward line, the upper Coast line, Altamont pass, Donner Pass, the ex-WP High Line, Sacramento Elvas, Roseville, the Shasta line, the northern Valley line or BNSF's Stockton Sub plus trackage rights on the above UP lines - ANY railroad operations in Northern California are on topic for message postings. Ideally, if you see a train, use this group to help other railfans by posting specific train-spotting info such as recording the locomotive number(s), train ID (if known), direction headed, time seen, location, etc.

ALL MEMBERS are required to read and agree to the RULES by visiting the HEADSUP NORCAL RULES PAGE. Here you will find helpful guidelines such as how to post train movements. Please keep non-related content (outside Nor Cal) that can be discussed on other groups off this list. Discussion is permitted but keep commentary short and concise as defined in the "Rules" link above. All comments and/or questions for the moderator can go either in the "message" section or via email. Thank you.

The King Tut exhibit in Seattle closed in January. So perhaps this unit will return from LA minus the Tut advertising. Sent from my iPhone ... [Non-text

I have no good info either way. Maybe someone who has watched the pattern of BNSF reroutes can chime in. I would guess the BNSF would go Sac sub and the UP
