UP symbols can be far more complex than ABBCC-DD where "A" is the train category, "BB" is the origin, "CC" is the destination and "DD" is the date.

Trains can have subcategories:
AABBCC-DD
Here, the first "A" is the category and the second "A" isthe subcategory. A good example for this is grain shuttle trains. Their symbols start with "GS":
GSSIRV-02 would be a grain shuttle from Salina, KS to Roseville, CA. 

Train symbols can also include a section number:
ZABBCC-DD

Here, the "Z" is the section number. First section doesn't include a "1", but second section would include a "2":
2GSSIRV-02
this would be a valid symbol. 

And then, there is a "special code" that can be added in the symbol too:
ABBCCX-DD
Here, the "X" is the special code. There are a ridiculous number of special codes, and they can vary depending on the train category. On manifests (for example), a "B" indicates the second train with that symbol for that origin date. For example, if Roper, UT sends out an MRORV-02 at 6am and then has enough cars to warrant a second train at 6pm, it would have the symbol MRORVB-02. 

The "P" special code indicates "perishables". It doesn't necessarily mean the train is a unit train of fruit, but that the train does include perishables. 

I'm not certain what the "W" special code was for on ENYCSW-02. On a work train, that would indicate a wrecker. So WNYCSW-02 would be a wrecker. But "E" is a light power move and I don't know what the "W" is there...

All the P means is that there's a block of perishable stuff on the train.  Those solid refer blocks run as a Z train.  That light engine movement down to Colo. Spgs. might have been some Operation Lifesaver job, or it could be a set of engines running down to drag a special out of Fort Carson.

A 'J5' CAD Passing was processed at an upline station, and this station is the next downline crew change point. The 'J5' CAD passing causes all scheduled times to be adjusted until the next downline crew change point. Thus, the pound sign is a signal that can explain why the event times may be out of sequence. All accomplished and scheduled event times up to the pound sign (#) are based on previous upline reportings. All scheduled event times after the pound sign will be based the 'J5' CAD passing time reported. When the actual event is reported, the scheduled times are adjusted based on the actual reporting.

UP symbols can be far more complex than ABBCC-DD where "A" is the train category, "BB" is the origin, "CC" is the destination and "DD" is the date.

Trains can have subcategories:
AABBCC-DD
Here, the first "A" is the category and the second "A" isthe subcategory. A good example for this is grain shuttle trains. Their symbols start with "GS":
GSSIRV-02 would be a grain shuttle from Salina, KS to Roseville, CA. 

Train symbols can also include a section number:
ZABBCC-DD

Here, the "Z" is the section number. First section doesn't include a "1", but second section would include a "2":
2GSSIRV-02
this would be a valid symbol. 

And then, there is a "special code" that can be added in the symbol too:
ABBCCX-DD
Here, the "X" is the special code. There are a ridiculous number of special codes, and they can vary depending on the train category. On manifests (for example), a "B" indicates the second train with that symbol for that origin date. For example, if Roper, UT sends out an MRORV-02 at 6am and then has enough cars to warrant a second train at 6pm, it would have the symbol MRORVB-02. 

The "P" special code indicates "perishables". It doesn't necessarily mean the train is a unit train of fruit, but that the train does include perishables. 

I'm not certain what the "W" special code was for on ENYCSW-02. On a work train, that would indicate a wrecker. So WNYCSW-02 would be a wrecker. But "E" is a light power move and I don't know what the "W" is there...

Keep in mind UP tends to "invent" station codes temporarily, at times.
So keeping a list up to date is not easy.
