And the fact that you shroud your comments in some critique of eskay's purity and authenticity as a blogging voice when money is the name of the game for you two is cynical and makes me throw up in my mouth just a bit. It's been years since Hashim turned his back on the "conversation" he evangelized for so long, Mike as far as I can tell was never in it.

You guys are consultants because you talk a good game and can fool corporate people who don't have to actually worry if the decisions they make will impact their family eating next month.
Eskay on the other hand created his own hip-hop media brand and made it a household name, the only rap blog that really matters to whats left of the tattered music industry. And he's eating well off of his operation. He should do anything but listen to you two.
Until Hashim can actually offer real advice on what a site should do to compete with nah right (the purported topic of this thread) or you offer a legitimate and helpful critique of nah right, then i will stand by my statement that you're coming off like two bitter bitches talking loud and saying nothing.

Well again I'll default being the new person in the group. However, I
know for a fact having worked in the social media space for 8 years
that Hashim is a very talented voice and consultant and that's why he
gets paid for what he does and would be totally someone I would hire.
As for me I started blogging in 2005...in 2007 I took all that I
learned and become a community manager and grew the community that I
managed to over 200,000 active users. In 2008 I started consulting on
social media and have been hired by Samsung, NFL, Turner Broadcast,
Readers Digest, and billed 6 figures in 2008 having translated my
blogging, community building, and social media learning into real
profit.
Greasyguide.com it me is an experiment and allows me to test out a lot
of what I do with brands. At the top of 2009 I'm managing a
multi-million dollar account with TV and online. It's all about what
you have an how you can translate that to your business. I don't
really care if Greasy bring in 100 visitors a day...it's not that
serious and I have fun. I learned as a community manager that you have
to do the same stuff as your customer in order to talk to them on the
same level. So I blog so that when I do outreach I can fully
understand what bloggers need, want, care about, and think. It's been
invaluable research.
Anyway I will move on from this thread and keep my mouth shut.
