The best SEO book is actually just called "SEO Book". How's that for SEO, huh? Get it here: http://seobook.com

Also, read an incredible interview with the author:

In the Chris brown issue of Vibe, Will.i.am proposes a new music industry model where artists sell or give away their music directly to fans, and corporations sponsor these music stores.

So, artists or labels would have something like the Def Jux Pharmacy (http://store.definitivejux.net) with ad campaigns subsidizing it?

Not a bad idea.

When Rawkus announced that they are "signing" 50 new acts to the label, I thought it was interesting idea. My guess is they were planning to use all of the content created by these net based acts and sell advertising around it. My further guess is that they are finding it not worth their time and money to deal with the issue, concerns, questions, and personalties of 50 rap groups.

Anyone has info about this?

Thanks for reply though – I REALLY do appreciate it.

I'm haphazard about keeping up with what's happening now in SEO but if
I was trying to stay truly up-to-date I'd start checking out the
different blogs focused on that topic as well as blogs like
problogger.net to see what resources turn up. I'm remember webmaster
forums were also a good place to dig into what's breaking now but
that's been awhile for me.

On the other hand, SEO is an ongoing part of anything I do online so I
think acquiring that basic knowledge and keeping reasonably up-to-date
is key to web biz. I'm just not on that breaking edge.

I'm sure other folks on this list have more specific blogs and related
sources with which they keep up.

I know a couple acts in the 50 and they tell me the official launch
is sometime in Nov.
The 50 acts however, are competing for 7 actual slots on the label
(being officially signed by Rawkus). A few heads believe these slots
have been pre-determined.

Here's link to a few to compare based on your budget and need:

I've used Goldmine and Sage.. which is great and pretty standard for
sales. The Entellium CRM and NetSuite CRM+ look good. I like things
that are web-based and allow customer login accounts. Terrasoft CRM is
good I've heard. Microsoft's is pretty robust but like most of the
stuff they do, it may seem like overkill.

9rules is kind of of like an ad network. They "represent" hundreds of high quality sites, though right now I don't see them selling ad space for them.

Now 9rules has a social network that helps you find content from all those sites (http://9rules.com/my/). it's interesting.

I was thinking about HitWise, have any of you tried it out and did you like it? I just want to be able to get an idea of how many peopel searched for a particularly query on a particular day. I'd also would love to find a Compete site that measure individual blogs, or smaller website that are at the local level.

there has been a lack of quality ads coming through blogads of late... i finally have time to wrap my head around it and see if blogads can play a hand at improving the situation.

who has added / dumped blogads in the last 6 months?

eskay - did you kill blogads from your site?

This is the longest I've gone without ads being offered to ProHipHop.
I checked and a lot of music blogs don't have ads but I haven't
looked at it more closely. I've been meaning to write them and see
what they have to say.

The fact that they don't have a default ad option is a real stumbling
block for continuing to work with them when they can't fill your
inventory and they can't provide alternatives. It ends up making the
whole situation way too unstable for most people's good.

Blogger ad options still mostly suck.

OMG. i just threw my iphone out the window.

if you feel like you missed the boat with the facebook application market, have no fear.  your pot of gold might reside on the adroid platform, which is basically the facebook platform on steroids.  on a phone.
