This is due to how banks and creditors view a corporation vs. a sole proprietor ("DBA"). When you conduct business as a corporation you are viewed as a sophisticated business person, whereas the longer you conduct business as a DBA the more likely you will be considered an unsophisticated business person by banking and lending institutions.
Usually, as a company begins applying for loans and credit, it will be asked to provide a personal guarantee from an owner or an officer. For this reason, great care should be given to personal credit scores, as this will have a role to play in the company's credit building process. BAD OR POOR PERSONAL CREDIT WILL NOT STOP YOU FROM BUILDING BUSINESS CREDIT; HOWEVER, IT WILL SLOW DOWN THE PROCESS.
