"Death of a Partnership"
by Marnie L. Pehrson

What kills more Internet projects than any other factor? Personalities!
After owning my own business for 10 years, being a principal in two
partnerships, and heavily involved in the development of several Web-based
ventures and enterprises, I've had the opportunity of working with a myriad
of people and personalities.

No matter how great the concept or how innovative the idea, it's all useless
if the key players can't communicate with each other. In my experience, I've
found that the most common breakdown is between what I refer to as the Doers
and the Dreamers.

"How to Minimize Legal Liability In Your Online Business"
By Elena Fawkner

Have you ever had the edifying experience of receiving an unjustified spam
complaint from a complete nutter? I did, just this week. It seems to be an
unfortunate fact of life for those of use who run an online business.

The whole experience got me thinking just how vulnerable those of us running
online businesses are to those individuals whose sole purpose in life seems
to be to attempt to destroy other people's livelihoods. Their ability to
wield such power is, of course, only facilitated by the lack of natural
justice that seems to apply in the online world. Where else could you be
tried and convicted of a crime without even knowing your accuser or being
given the opportunity to present your side of the case?

"What Goes Up Must Come Down and Sometimes it Crashes"
by: Donna Schwartz Mills

It is as inevitable as gravity. Just as "what goes up, must come down," in
the computing world, systems crash. You may not know when and you may not
know why and you may not see any warning signs... but it will happen. And
chances are, it won't be when your work is done and you're just surfing the
net for fun. You'll get that dreaded blue screen when you're swamped with
tasks and have a big looming deadline.

"Maintaining and Troubleshooting Your Laptop Battery"
by: Bill Platt

The actual life of a laptop battery will vary with computer usage habits.
For most users, it is not uncommon to experience differences in battery
life, of anywhere from just under one hour to over two hours in each
sitting. If you are experiencing shorter battery life cycles, say 10 to 15
minutes, it may not yet be time to order that new battery.

"Market Research vs. Adaptability Research"
Paul Siegel

What is market research? What is a market? Can you define a market by
demographics? Or must you classify it according to the interests of
consumers? If so, how do you classify?

What is an industry? Is the browser part of the computer industry? Perhaps
the computer industry is part of the Internet industry, which owes a great
deal to the browser? Research is being done on a biologically-based
computer. Will this make biology part of the computer industry?
